  1. Wix makes Bumper to Bumper store brand filters. For my 350 SBC they are 2.50 each. They have a cut out display with a Fram, a wix and their store brand and the Wix is the best but the store brand is a close second. The Fram doesn't compare.
  2. That diesel looks like it was meant to be there. Good job.
  3. I gutted it and am fixing anything bad.
  4. Back in 1981 when I was junior in high school I was one of the luckiest kids alive. Our high school had an on the job training program. I hit the jackpot when I got to work at the local Chevrolet dealership. After just a few weeks I impressed them enough that the Service manager told me he would give me what was left of the shop operating fund (I think). Some weeks it wasn't much... well, I guess it never was. I was doing oil changes and undercoating and getting new cars ready for the lot. Soon I was doing more and more things and they hired me for the hours I worked after noon when I got there. To make a short story long I started buying tools off the Snap On truck. I still have all the sockets and a long 3/8 break over ratchet. I paid like $68 for the ratchet back then if I remember correctly. The stories about them being better are true. I wore out the screwdrivers and the local Snap On truck guy wouldn't replace the blades so I eventually got rid of all them except one. I still have one of the pry bars also. My Grandfather had a transmission shop and when he died my Aunt let us have a few of his tools. I picked out one of his Thorsen 3/8 ratchets and it is my favorite. I bet it is 40 years old and it works like new. I would take some pics of them but I literally have my garage jacked up and on Tuesday I poured a new floor so everything is in the basement and dispersed anywhere it would fit. I helped my son put in a new tub the next day not knowing it was going to rain everyday since so it is still jacked up. My employer made us burn two weeks of vacation this week and next so I will get it done but it is annoying.
  5. I don't feel so bad now. I was getting around 13 pretty consistently and I was sure I should be getting more. You would think we should get more since they are so light weight. I have gotten as high as 16mpg one time with the Sniper. For what it's worth you won't recoup your money in gas savings but it is nice to go out and fire it up and take off right away when it is cold out. By the way, good job with your truck, I am glad young guys are still interested in modifying vehicles and having fun and learning new things.
  6. Andrew, I looked and didn't see your address anywhere.
  7. Kansashogan@hotmail.com. I will ship it Monday, provided of course if you pay.
  8. I have a complete wire harness for an '86 with a 2.5. The radio wires are cut in the under dash harness and the speaker wires are missing on the end by the door. I'm thinking the harness under the hood with the fuse box is in good shape, just needs loom. There is slight corrosion on the terminals in the fuse box but not bad. 300 bucks shipped to the lower 48. I have the entire harness for the truck if anyone else needs something.
  9. Here is what I have. All there and in good shape. 100 bucks shipped to the lower 48.
  10. Looked like a good start until the dash. Good luck with it.
  11. I put a Holley Sniper on my 350 and seen around a 2mpg increase. It still sucks but is better. Have you tried just setting your total timing? I also have Vortec heads and I set my total timing at 34 degrees. That seems to be a consensus among the sbc gurus on the web. Don't even worry about the initial timing.
  12. Let me see what I have. I'm parting an '86 and I think it's all there.
  13. Never seen that before. Pretty cool.
  14. I agree. This thing is awesome.
  15. Would you get this thing put together!!! I'm tired of drooling.
  16. I'm all about quality tools and I cheaped out and bought the Harbor freight battery blower to blow off the deck. Works good. Then I bought their pole saw and I have put many hours on it and it is still going. Just recently bought their hedge trimmer and have used it a fair bit. All came with batteries. I have 10 acres and keep about 8 of them real nice and trimmed and I would buy another if one of them broke.
  17. I've been pecking away at things and this thing is running great......finally. I was looking around at ways to wire the starter differently and found a way so it doesn't run on. Way nicer. Then I bought a smaller vacuum bulb and got it mounted. It also rolled over 25,000 miles on the odometer a couple weeks ago.
  18. Good luck, keep us updated.
  19. My wife has a 2016 Toyota Rav4 and she loves it. 72,000 miles already and not one issue.
