Before and after
kansashogan replied to kansashogan's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Well, it started acting up again so I said to heck with the electronic distributor. I'm not a patient person when things act up. I want to get in and go. Anyhoo I sold my old HEI awhile back because it was running good so I had to buy a new one. I got a DUI HEI. they are supposed to be top notch. I also bought their plug wires. This is nice stuff. While I was at it the paint on the rocker covers and breather still had overspray from when moron boy painted it so I repainted them . I'm going to clean the engine bay up while I'm at it. I had it running for a couple days to make sure the distributor was the problem and it was. I was trying to reroute wires and make things look good when it started acting up and I said to heck with it. The fuel injection is fine but the distributor is to sensitive to RFI.- 235 replies

Interior Leaking Bad - What could it be??
kansashogan replied to NEO auto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is something I done to help keep water from under the hood. I put a 1/4 inch rope in between the layers of the back hood seal so it sealed to the hood better. I wouldn't swear it works 100% but I think it helps. -
After I posted that, I looked at the classified section and figured they were the one and same. Thanks Pete.

It seems to me when I did mine the rod was adjustable already. I bought all of my stuff from Rock Auto. -
Lesson learned, thanks guys

Now, all the info is there just jumbled a little. You would think the Post office could have figured it out. No more international shipping for me. I could have sold these to someone on here but I told this guy he was first so i kept my word. Not much profit after this.

I sold some tail lights to a guy in Puerto Rico last week and got them shipped off. I got them back today because they said the address was undeliverable. WHAT? Just so happens I got a message from the guy and he says he hasn't recieved them. I just figured it out I think. The address he sent on messenger looks different from the computer to the phone screens. The phone screen puts it all in one long jumbled mess while the computer lays it out like we are used to. The info is all there just not all on the same lines.

In the mid eighties I was stationed at Camp Castle up by Camp Casey. Wild times.

I would say that if you are really into learning and willing to put in the time and effort to keep up on the things we all know it will need then go for it. There seems to be a lot of little things that need attention that previous owners just let go. It is an addiction. Look through this site at a bunch of the other guys trucks and see what they have had to tackle and see if it is something you want to get into.

Interior Leaking Bad - What could it be??
kansashogan replied to NEO auto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My sliding back window was leaking. When I took it out there were inches of sealant that were not adhered to the window. They also say the vents on the sides can leak. This sounds weird but what I did for insurance against that was put an eyebrow shaped bead of silicon above each hole and let it dry before putting the covers back on. -
No, I swear. It was really weird. They were arcing all over the place. If you read my build thread you can see the problems I was having.
-
Oh yea, if you get shocked they should be considered bad. A good way to check wires to is pull your truck into a totally dark spot and with it running pop the hood. You will most likely see a lot of arcing across where the wires touch metal. Look around where they plug onto the spark plugs. I held 3 of mine in my palm and they glowed green. I was shocked!

I have done a ton of reading regarding plug wires and i found some that I am considering. My situation is a bit different than most of you guys since the Holley injection and dual sync distributor seem to be very sensitive to RFI. The brand is Magnecore and they aren't cheap. They claim to have virtually no energy leakage. I will find a link and post it.
