  1. Plastic pulley on jeep started in like 97 or 98. They're poop in my opinion. I swapped the one on my 5.9 to a metal one
  2. Joe Bonnamossa /endthread
  3. Do all of Crusier's tips. Then sell me your rims.
  4. Got the exhaust ready. Recently finished my 99+ Intake w/ Renix wiring swap, write-up to come. Picking up exhaust tomorrow after golf, and getting it all welded up. Video to come of that
  5. Personally, if you have a junkyard around you, I'd get some from there first. You can probably get 3-5 for $30 or so. That is if you have a good place around you. I'm lucky enough to live within minutes of about 6 "U-Pull" places. Makes finding parts nice :) But if you're unable to do that, I'd consider buying the more expensive one if you plan on keeping the vehicle for long.
  6. Measure twice, cut once.
  7. Well, that's a lot of money. How much do they sell for just as a decent set, not new?
  8. See the above post, but I have a fresh wire running from where the old sensor was to the front of the engine where the new one is. I'll post back when I swap sensors.
  9. My temp sensor is on the front of the engine as it is a 98 I had previously tested it like you're saying, and as expected itnpegged the gauge full hot. I grabbed a couple extra sensors at the junkyard today. I'll be installing them after I finish up the exhaust. Thanks for the help guys!
  10. Looks sweet. I'm going to be adding a basket to the top for lights/camping gear/limb-riser mounts. I really like the NB rack for SUVs though.
  11. The only reason to swap a diesel in, in my opinion, is for the vanity/self accomplishment reasons. Personally, I'd rather put something easier, and more fun, in with minimal effort. (Read: SBC!)
  12. Thanks guys. I knew it would be turning the same direction no matter which way it was routed. Something scares me about the temp gauge not working! And to answer your question Stroker, I never took the sensor out.
  13. I'm nervous about my belt routing. Long story short, I just did a 99+ intake upgrade on an already Frankenstein assembled engine, and had put a power steering pump from a 96 on the engine to fit the new intake. Here is how I currently have my belt routed...when I started the car and drove it after the swap, it ran great, but the temp gauge does not work, where it did work before. I find it hard to believe that the sensor went bad during the course of the swap. My fear is the water pump is not pumping because it is turning wrong or something, but logically this doesn't make sense as the belt is going to turn it only one way any way. To my knowledge, all accessories except the P/S pump are 98 components Notice the idler is on the driver side, between the power steering and the crank. This is the only idler pulley I have, and this is the exact route of belt I currently have. This is the other belt route I'm coming up with, but I do not have the second idler pulley next to the A/C... I'm just afraid that something is wrong, and the temp gauge isn't working because for some reason the belt is routed wrong. The WP is turning the same direction in both routing images...I just need reassurance I'm not an idiot, LOL. Thanks in advance.
  14. Anything is possible with enough time, money, and resources. I have looked for viable diesel options since I bought the MJ...so far the only reasonable swap I've seen is a SBC. Everything else seems like it's too expensive for the payoff.
  15. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/where-oil-pressure-sending-unit-4-0-a-925760/ That should show you where the unit is. Rockauto is your friend for alot of parts.
  16. Oil gauge is probably the sending unit. It sits right next to the cap and rotor if you have the 4.0. If I were you I'd google some schematic reading lessons. Maybe YouTube. Schematics for everything on a XJ/MJ is readily available. Once you learn how to read schematics, look up the proper schematic for your problem, then take it one issue at a time. Highly doubt you need a new wiring harness
  17. Nice. I love people who don't know what they're doing and make such terrible mistakes
  18. Wait for 703s. I put them in mine and after about 60 miles it made a world of difference. I'm sure partially due to nice cleaned injectors but the idle is better and all around runs better. Worth waiting. If you have a decent junkyard you should be able to find 703s fairly easy.
  19. Jack car up take skid plate off tank if it's there knock locking ring out by spinning. PB blaster it a few times, maybe twice a day for a few days. this will help alot. pull out and turn pump to avoid damaging float.
  20. So what shift knobs are people using? Re-used stock ones acceptable. I'd like to have something nifty, but I can't find anything good.
  21. Comanches look so good in white. What color white is that?
  22. This is why I have Z34 louvers on the way for my MJ :)
  23. For the price, and I can't believe I'm saying this, Rough Country is cheaper. That one does look stronger, and does come with the tubular upper part. Not sure if it comes painted though. The paint on the rough country one seems pretty tough.
