  1. I don't understand why you don't just buy it from Summit? I mean why are you going through all the trouble of emailing back and forth with 4wd.com? Why not just buy from Summit?
  2. I think I will just put everything in nuetral and leave the shaft in. I have a dolly reserved for friday so hope he still has it then. It seems to be a pretty decent truck, he says it was driving last week and just blew a rod through the motor. Has around 160K on it.
  3. Why would you buy that kit for $423 when you can just buy a Borla muffler from summit? I don't think that pipe for an XJ will fit on the MJ.
  4. So just put the Trans and Transfer case into nuetral and tow away? What are you talking about covering up?
  5. I lost out on my 96XJ deal, but I found a 92 fully loaded XJ for $250 with a blown motor. The Jeep is about 50 miles from me and I hope I can tow it with a dolly behind my 98 Dodge Caravan. I was just wondering what I should do to the Jeep to prepare it for towing? I was thinking just leave the key on to unlock the steering wheel, and remove the rear DS.
  6. Yep still can use it if you have a welder or want to go get it welded. IMHO it would be better so you can get rid of that pesky vent window, and be able to fit your arm out the window.
  7. Any 4 door XJ door will fit before 1997. A 97+ door has a different door latch.
  8. PA?? I live in MD but all my vehicles are registered in PA and all they do is check safety items for inspection. I have never had an emissions inspection for ANY vehicle older than 1996. $350 for changing a dist. cap, wires, plugs, and maybe fuel filter?
  9. You are a very lucky man!! Wish I could find a women that enjoys nice cars as much as I do!
  10. That is a sweet M715 but they should have taken the shovel off before painting. lol
  11. Did the 19 year old yo boy have any of his 5 kids with him when he blew the motor??
  12. Thank you Eagle but I just went to buy it about 2 hours ago and when I showed up a couple guys were loading it on there car dolly! :fs1: I can never catch a break!
  13. Everything you need for the motor/trans swap will be the same as your MJ. You might need to get a different driveshaft though.
  14. I can't believe someone cut up a perfectly good XJ.
  15. There is a 60A maxi fuse in the under hood fuse box, It says Ignition on it. The guy who owns it started it while I watched the fuse, it fired ran for about 2 seconds then I saw the fuse pop and then it shut off. If you look at a wiring diagram it is the fuse on the POS red wire coming from the batt to the fuse box then goes directly to the ignition switch. BATT---------60Afuse--------Ignition I guess what I am trying to ask is.. If the wire itself is good from the fuse to the new ignition, then could it be a short somewhere in the circuit when in the RUN position? I would guess that the fuse is only blowing when the key is in the RUN position so therefore it would have to be something in that circuit. :hmm:
  16. That is one clean looking MJ!
  17. I just went and looked at the XJ. It is in great shape and I think I might have drooled a little. He had the steering column apart and a new ignition installed but no luck. As soon as it starts the 60A fuse for the ignition blew.
  18. In your gas tank...
  19. Ok guys.. I found a 96 XJ with 137K no rust and in great shape. The guy says that it starts and runs for a minute then the ignition fuse 60amp under the hood blows. Have any of you had this problem before? I'm thinking of buying it but the electrical problems on cars aggravate and confuse me! O its a 4.0 auto
  20. I have my own small home improvement business. I am such a nice guy 15% of my profits from any job go to the Comanche!
  21. Hey sam.. Is this the first time you bought from one of these places? I am just curious as to how it works. I found a good web site that has damaged vehicles for sale in my area.
  22. Failing fuel pump clogged injectors :dunno:
  23. Even if the compressor won't run(low freon) the fan will still come on. When you switch the A/C on the fan will come on regardless of the A/C working or not. I would get the right wire diagram for your truck and see which wire tells the fan to come on when you turn the A/C on.
  24. Could be your steering box if it has power steering. My steering box had a bad spot where it would do the same thing your describing.
