Thats kind of a cool look for a MJ. Its not everyday you see someone making it look like a fast car and not a mud truck.
  3. Yes I have used a piece of hose, but it is still hard to pinpoint. It sounded like it was coming from the valves, thats why I took the head off and inspected. Could it possibly be from the oil pump? I did have to swap my old distributor into the new motor, maybe I installed it wrong and made the oil pump make the noise??
  4. I know that you can grab any alt from a RENIX controlled MJ or XJ.
  5. Why would you want your reg and tittle to read 97? I don't about those guys but I have no desire to have an emissions inspection on my MJ.. :dunno:
  6. Posted this on JF with no good respones.. Ok so my 4.0 is a 93-94ish and its making a tapping noise like it is a collapsed lifter. I took the valve cover off and inspected the push rods to see if anything is out of the ordinary but found nothing. This motor has 93K on it and the valves ard entire inside of the motor are clean. Oil pressure is 45 at idle when warm and it drives great. This is no ordinary 4.0 tapping noise as it is very loud and constant. It does quiet down when its at 220 degrees but never goes away. Anyone have a suggestions on what it could be, I am stumped? I used a pair of long nose pliers and carefully pulled out the lifters and inspected them. I then put them back in exactly how they came out. I rolled all the pushrods to see if they were bent. Torqued the rockers back down to 22lbs. So I can now rule out the head for any noises. If it were rod bearings wouldn't it make it run horrible? The oils pressure is great and so is performance.
  7. How do you know there isn't any spark? Have you taken the wire from the coil and verified?
  8. Odds are its the rear main and/or the pan gasket.
  9. Why are you wheeling with a camper :dunno:
  10. 3900 when the poor guy who traded it in only got 400
  11. I think anyone who wants the 2500 parts from china should ask Sir Sam where he got his. I wouldn't buy anything from china unless I knew it has worked for someone else. I have spent way too much time talking and dealing with companies from china to know that the odds are against you for getting anything close to what you want. My .02
  12. I am looking for a running HO 4.0 for my Cherokee. I am located on the MD/PA line and will travel.
  13. Is it making a noise when it engages?
  14. How do you know its too deep? You would need to use shims if it is.
  15. New motor, fix any problems then install a 2" lift and better tires. It will be my DD since my MJ is too small to fit anyone in it.
  16. Ok that sounds about right, I wasn't sure from the video.
  17. I worked for a place that delt with CRAP from China, and that looks exactly like the kind of stuff that will not fit right and will prolly show up broken in the box.
