  1. I had a set of American Racing Outlaw 2s on my MJ when I first bought it. It made it look so much better because the tires came out a lil more than the fender flares. I believe they were 4.25" backspacing with 235/75-15s Sinkrun if Erik doesn't want them I am interested.. I liked my AR rims
  2. HUH WHAT!? You don't drink while working on your MJ?
  3. The resistor is located on the pass. side. It has 2 screws holding it and it will be right in front of your face when you look under the dash.
  4. Yep 3.55.. I have the right gear just not in the correct position. :hmm: I read another post I found that described it a little better for someone like me. :???: I will mess with it tomorrow after I address my 3 month old trans mount already making creaky noises!
  5. Kastein... I just think the beat up MJ in Worcester is suspect..Lmao (I was born and raised in Boston)
  6. Hey Paul, make sure you buy a decent mount. I bought one for $35 from Advance auto parts about 3 months ago and it just started making creaky and squeaky noises.
  7. O man... I did put the 89 speedo gear into the 94 trans, BUT it fell out of the housing and I have no idea what position it was in.. Should I just play with it until it works?
  8. I got a guy from the local paper to give me $100 for it picked up.. I would only get $154 from scrap, so I figured I would do that. I would have to rent a dolly for $30 and then another $10 for gas.. I'm loosing $14... but knowing my trans and truck will be safe= priceless
  9. I agree with jeepco!! Remove the rear drive shaft and crossmember and let the trans down a little.. It will be so easy to get it out then.
  10. I really am still amazed myself that they came right off.. I have an issue though. My speedometer and odometer don't work.. What do I need to do?
  11. Trans is in!! The wires were plug and play... I was sooo shocked with my MJ today. I removed the exhaust from the header and the bolts came off like they were new. I have never in my life seen an exhaust come apart that easy.
  12. Thought I would update.. Motor was knocking really bad, and it was all over the road.. Bought a 96 Camaro instead.
  13. About 15 miles 10 of which are highway.
  14. I better not try it.. lol I bought the cherokee for the AW4 because mine blew..
  15. You guys think my 89 4.0 Aw4 can tow the XJ shell I have? There is no motor or trans in it.. I can get more money for scrap if I rent a dolly and tow it there rather than them picking it up.
  16. That sounds like my father.. He told my step-mother he needed a 4x4 because he traded in his 04 Rubi TJ for a 07 Shelby GT. $9000 later he has the most mechanicly sound MJ I have ever seen lol..
  17. Just curious as to how everyone found their MJ and why they decided they wanted one. I bought mine for a winter truck because my Camaro is useless in a dusting and at the time I lived in Quincy, MA. I also bought an MJ because my father had one new in 88 and then we restored a 89 together a couple years ago, and I fell in love with Jeeps. I found mine on Craigs list under a posting titled Jeep Commander pick-up. $240 bucks later I drove it home 45 mins stopping halfway to top off the trans fluid because a cooler line was broken, spraying fluid everywhere.
  18. I worked for a mid-size company in MA repairing lawn equipment, dirt bikes, atvs, etc... I was always very nice to customers and always tried to help them out rather than screw them like most other places.. In return I had several happy customers call my boss and tell them how pleased they were with me! Long story short my second week there I received a $200 a week raise in salary and a $350 bonus every month.
  19. Thanks guys! I am hoping my swap goes successful... I took the driveshafts off last night and my U joints fell apart.. LOL strange because they didn't make any noise at all. I am just hoping I don't have to swap the TCU into my truck.
  20. What kind of gear oil do I use for the D30?
  21. Ok I actually helped my father do that on his MJ. Does anyone have a link to a good write up on how to do shim the CAD? Found one.. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18415
  22. Well I am installing a 95 AW4 and transfer case into my 89 MJ. My transfer case has vacuum lines running out of it.. How am I supposed to make the 95 T case work?
  23. Has anyone used the bolts that lostissues posted? If they will work I will probly get a set of those.
  24. Good luck!! Have any pictures?
  25. Well the jeep is in great shape other than that. There is no rust anywhere else but the frame is BAD in one spot.. Go figure! I can probly buy it for around $800.. I know a great welder down the street that can fab somthing up for me.. I guess I just want to know what you guys think about frame repair?? I will also have to see if that will pass inspection in PA.
