  1. I went adjustable because I like being able to change my setup around.
  2. I would also post this over in the Naxja NW chapter, there's gonna be more people in your area over there
  3. A TJ axle would work but its low pinion,a YJ rear would work but the perches would probably need moved and they are c clip axles. I would get front and rear axles from a 4cyl 5spd MJ/XJ,also if you get lucky the AMC 20 from an Mj came with 4.10s and bolts in.
  4. It looks kinda cool but I would much rather build a CJ8. One of these days the stars will align and I will find a solid one for the right price on a day I have money.
  5. Problem with VW forums is they are huge compared to our tiny group so its like comparing CC to Naxja. When I'm looking for VW stuff I'm looking for info and answers more then to be part of a group. I've found that Vortex usually has what I'm looking for.
  6. the early Mazda 2600 4x4 was also mostly mitsubishi with Mazda skin. Its looks weird to find a 4G54 mitsubishi in a mazda truck.
  7. That guy has too much free time but it looks pretty sweet
  8. Not bad, definitely better then you could have done with a roller.
  9. You must have had some leaking injectors,IMO what you did would have little to no gain on a properly running MJ.
  10. Engine, transmission, transfer case, both axles and a killer stereo. Everything on it works so it's going to be a donor to two XJ'S and one MJ. :wrench: What drive train is in it? Most ZJ components would be a down grade for an XJ/MJ
  11. Looks like an engine donor
  12. If you lock your CAD on the front axle it should make it shift in an out like your XJ.
  13. I have the same issue, mine had trailer mirrors that the PO replaced with sport mirrors which I then replaced with XJ mirrors so I have holes from two different mirrors to deal with.
  14. I converted mine,it was easy.

That's definitly the cheaper option,I may do that till I can get a good deal on a feeder. I've heard stories of people getting feeders dirt cheap because people think they are small mig welders.
  17. they are super easy to install, what they came from doesn't matter. They are not a mustang injector they are a Bosch 19# yellow top injector and where used in a few different cars

It couldn't have been used much.I'm guessing someone bought it for a project, then it just sat. From what I can tell its around 20-25 years old,so its in great shape. She paid $100 for it.

I've looked around online a bit,I figured I would post here and get some opinions and to show off what the wife got me. I might check out some welding shops aswell when I get more serious about converting it.

I know I would like to do it,I'm just concerned it won't work right with my welder.

The 125 works good for somethings but I would like more power, on thicker material I usually do mock up with the 125 then take it to work to weld it up. It would be nice to do it all at home. I'm pretty handy with a stick welder so I could use it as is but I like the idea of having a larger mig.

We have a 375 amp Miller at work with a feeder on it,it welds nice.
  23. That depends,better for what?

My wife went to a yard sale saturday and bought me a 300 amp welder Its an old Montgomery wards stick welder that was made by Century I've been thinking about getting a wire feeder for it,I've found used voltage sensing feeders for $400-$500 but I wonder if its worth it. I've read that some older machines won't run a feeder very well and if it does run one I might have to run dual shield to get it to weld right. A 300 amp MIG would be nice but I already have a 125 amp mig so I may just run it as a stick welder. Anybody have any advice,opinions,ect...........
  25. The RC brackets fit fine but the braces they use don't, I just put a set on mine. I'm not a hardcore wheeler so I might just leave the braces off. RE sells their brackets and braces separately (or did before their recent troubles) so they may not be entirely necessary. They may be less necessary on an MJ with the extra factory bracing but without the braces they are gonna get hung up on stuff. I have seen drop Brackets with no braces get ripped off of XJs,I just looked at one that ripped the entire drivers side factory arm mount off leaving a huge hole in the frame.
