I don't think it would be a big deal, but I do a lot of metal work.

From what I understand Hellcreek springs should be available again in a month or so. Doesn't help you now but its an option depending on your time frame.

I thought about loosing the bed but its nice to have. My truck still sees road use so the bed comes in handy when I'm out running around, its also nice to be able to load it up with gear and go camping or exploring.

I have the same problem just not as bad. The fronts streched about 2" putting it around 114.5" WB Its nice to be able to climb anything I point it at but the WB makes it tough in tight trails and the exposed belly area sucks in the rocks. I've been thinking about bobbing 4"-5" off the front of the bed and shortening the frame to around 110" WB. Just not sure if its worth it for 4"-5" of WB.

Anyone Used Rustys Over The Nuckle Steering Before?
mnkyboy replied to CoryMJ89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There's a few guys on NAXJA running the froelich stuff. If you contact Kris directly he may be able to meet you somewhere and save you some money on shipping. He comes down to the portland area from time to time to pick up stuff. Pm Redrider2911 on NAXJA -
Is your socket metal or plastic, I think 90 was the year they changed so yours could have either. I replaced my stock plastic sockets with the later sealed metal sockets from a later XJ and have yet to have another problem with them.

They say their flats fit both two door and 4 door. Therefore if they claim the Cutout flares fit the two door and the MJ you could assume you could get the flats to fit with out issues. And people on here have already done it... The pictures above are worth 1000 words. The rear wheel opening is bigger on an MJ then a 2dr Xj, cut out flairs fit both because you are cutting the body to fit a larger flair. The flat flairs are ment to fit a stock wheel opening and will not fit an MJ correctly. It would be interesting to see what people are doing to make them fit.

Mnkyboys 89 Comanche project
mnkyboy replied to mnkyboy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
This weekend the donor rig finally showed up so now I've got a strong running 4.3l TBI, LB4. I also rewired my heater controls so now I have variable fan speed for the first time since I've owned the truck, the PO had hacked the wiring pretty bad and the the controls were broken so I replaced the heater control sub harness, control panel, fan,and resistor board then repaired the wiring under the hood. Works like stock now. I also changed around the electric fan wiring and tracked down my clunk in the front end, turned out the trac bar bolt holes on the axle had ovaled so I drilled it to a bigger bolt, now its nice and tight.- 798 replies

The weather could have been better but the event went well, we had 3 MJs show up and parts for a 4th MJ. We also had a dozen or so XJs and various other rigs stop by. People got a lot of projects done and some came up just to hang out. Thanks to all who attended,we are planning another one later in the year.

mnkyboy replied to CoryMJ89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks like the rustys kit isn't a bolt on either. -
This is a 2.5l starter.
-
This is correct, the bolts on mine go straight up like a GM.

IIRC, on mine I popped off the cover around the lock then broke the lock apart so I could manually release it. There is a clip that holds it in on the inside, once you get it open you can pop the clip and the latch assembly comes right out so you can replace it.

You would have to move the perches for it to work.

Comanche Of The Month - March 2013
mnkyboy replied to Automan2164's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
I didn't do a write up on it. Basically its part of a 07 Ford Focus intake tube with a cone filter hooked to it. -
I don't know why any Jeep 2.5l starter wouldn't work. Most likely the 2.8l starter would work too.

You need to find an RTI ramp or a forklift to flex the truck with, that way you can see what needs changed. If it was lifted properly tbe brake lines and shocks should be ok.
-
Some kits come with links and some come with sway bar drop brackets. For a pavement princess what's supplied will be ok but if you plan to wheel your Jeep get a good set of quick disconnects.
-
It will flex pretty well as it is, just remove the swaybar links before you go off road.

Mines been helping me wrench on things since he was little but he has grown up around it. Just yesterday he pulled a 242 for me.

Most of the pioneers seem to have the gas guage were the tach goes, I'm sure you could have got them either way. I said laredo/limited because they will have the full guages, not could or might have them. to simplify things.
