  1. Having flexed this truck in person I can say that the flex is not that impressive,I had 4 MJs here at the time and this one had the least flex. Its got very stiff YJ lift springs up front and MJ lift springs in the rear, we lowered the truck a little but its still sitting around 9" of lift. It's really too bad the shop did the leafs. The front axle that was used is about as good as it gets for a link swap, very long short side and tons of room to put everything.
  2. The same guy still owns it, not sure why he hasn't kept up the build thread. He did end up doing the AX15 swap as well as a SYE and a custom rear drive shaft. It's too bad what happened to this truck. The shop that did the work ripped him off and gave him back a barely driveable truck, he called us a while back and said the truck was on the side of the road in Portland, it axle wrapped so hard that it shattered the drive shaft which flipped around and ripped a hole in the gas tank. We towed it to our shop and put in a new tank and had a new custom shaft built for it, we also addressed a bunch of serious issues from the build, the front axle was mounted so far off that the wheelbase was about an inch off from side to side, one front fender is damaged due to the axle being too far back on one side. We took the axles out and redid alot of what the original shop did, everything is staight now and the truck goes down the road as it should, we were going to do a bunch more work to it and we had talked about eventually converting it back to links. The main issues currently is the brakes and the axles, the builder hooked the 3/4 ton brakes to the stock master and booster, they work but not very well. The axles are right out of a 79 F250 and the rear has leaking axle seals, it is also badly in need of tires.
  3. It works pretty well, definitely drives better then it did with the shackles.
  4. I've seen them with over 200,000 miles and still going.
  5. This is a very clean MJ and it has had a ton of work, the swap was done by a shop in southern Oregon and they did a very poor Job. Since then the rear axle has been rehung with a Ruff stuff swap kit and has a proper driveline angle. Originally the front had the shackles on the frame side and the pinion angle was so far out that the truck hasn't had a driveline since the swap, the front axle had to be realigned and recentered, the shackles have been replaced with liquid Iron slider boxes to rotate the axle back to fix the pinion angle. It may require a high angle CV but it should accept a front drive shaft. The truck drives pretty much exactly like a SAS toyota, it's not bad but its not like a linked MJ.
  6. Your better off swapping clusters, the renix cluster isnt plug and play with the HO stuff. Renix has a cable driven speedometer and the HO is electronic. I imagine with a pass through speed sensor you might be able make the renix cluster work but it would be alot easier to swap in the HO one. My original plan was to hybrid the renix and HO harness together and run dual senders with the renix cluster, it ended up being easier and alot cleaner to use the newer stuff. Never got into fuel sender stuff as far as crossing them, I was going to use the sender for what ever cluster I went with.
  7. I have a 91 fuel pump and sender in my original renix tank, everything fit the same. I am using a 91 wiring harness spliced into the renix rear harness with a 4.0l cluster and everything works. Mines a 2.5l but it shouldn't matter.
  8. Mine is a 2dr post, you could also get them like this in 63.
  9. If no one has an answer I will try to remember to look tomorrow, I have my old TBI unit still hanging around.
  10. I've had enough 4.0Ls and parts laying around that I probably could. Hopefully once my MJ is back together I can work on this project, I have had alot going on so the Falcon has been on the back burner.
  11. Haven't got much done lately but its starting to look like a truck again. I really need some tires, those bald 35s look horrible.
  12. I have commercial accounts with a few different suppliers.
  13. I ran the stock shaft soa with lift shackles for years, never had an issue.
  14. Part# on the bushings in mine are 2125 on the lowers and 2130 on the uppers , should be able to match that or cross it.
  15. I don't care for tapatalk either, I've been using various forums and bulletin boards for over 20years so I like the full site option. Too many years of using forums on the PC.
  16. I use the full site on my phone too, i don't care much for the mobile version. I'm on the Facebook groups too and I can tell you that you will get much better tech here and the ability to be able to search old post makes the forum way better then Facebook. I am probably one of the main tech posters on the Facebook MJ groups and I would most likely refer you here for swap info.
  17. You can just replace the pins with new ones, no need to swap boxes unless the box is damaged.
  18. I'm from Chugiak but now live in Washington.
  19. That was right after I built the suspension, I had just pulled it out to check some clearances. Once its all set up and the shocks are in it shouldn't go quite that far.
  20. Mine are welded over the rockers.
  21. AX4/AX5 have the iron center section,AX15 is aluminum.
  22. I think I have pics of in here somewhere,Its a godspeed hydraulic hand brake for a drift or rally car that I have tied into the rear brake curcuit.
  23. I swung by the hardware store and picked up some nuts and bolts so now the front suspension and steering are all bolted together properly. I also cut a hole in the tunnel for the doubler so I can add a shifter and I mocked up a YJ 4wd shifter for the 231,then I installed the driver seat too see if it would clear the t case that's now coming through the floor,it bolted right in with no interference and it looks like if I get creative with my hydraulic hand brake I may be able to keep my center console too.
