I don't use it a whole lot but i have had a 10k ENGO on my MJ for a few years now with no issues.
-
My MJ was a 2.5l 4spd,i swapped the 3.55s for 4.88s,it performed pretty well on 33s.

converting an 89 tbi to 93 mpfi questions
mnkyboy replied to 89MJ4spdman2wd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
91-93 MJ or XJ should work, the dash harness changed a little in 94. The dash harness will go from the firewall plug to the rear harness plug in the kick panel,if you get the dash harness that matches your engine harness you should be able to splice in the rear harness and everything should work. My 91 harness plugged right into the column and everything else under the dash. -
Ruff stuff weld on brackets

We used F150 rotors on the 9" and still had to cut the brackets down to make them work. -
Ruff stuff weld on brackets

The brackets would likely need modified unless you could find a suitable rotor,i just used basically the same bracket to put disc on a Ford 9" and i had to cut the bracket down to work with a smaller diameter rotor. On my old D44 i ended up just making brackets and used D30 calipers and rotors. -

So your trying to hook the engine harness to the connector on the firewall, your going to need the pin outs for your truck and the XJ harness then you can see what pins needs moved. When i did mine i took the entire engine and under dash harness from the donor rig then all i had to do was tie it into the rear harness connectors which are in the driver side kick panel. -

Renix is what you have,HO is basically what your swapping in. The write up is for 4.0l swaps but the info is the same. What engine harness do you have? What is it out of? -

Do you have a donor harness? You should be able to swap in an XJ or MJ MPI harness then wire it to the rear harness with the info in the link i posted and be good to go. I have 91 MJ engine and dash harnesses spliced into my 89 rear harness running 95 YJ engine management on my 89 block and head. -

I used a 91 2.5l mpi pump and sender in my 89 tank. -
Weird that they would have the same part# ,Wranglers mount with four bolts,I've also heard the ratio is different. I imagine a YJ box would fit,i have one here that was manual steering that the owner converted using an XJ box,he just didn't use the 4th bolt.
-
XJ is the same but manual boxes can be hard to find. You can usually convert to power steering for less then a new or reman manual box goes for.

Looks like a 2wd front axle.

I ran the CAD axle till i grenaded a 5-260x joint and shaft,i looked into deleting the CAD and putting in the 5-297x shafts but it ended up being cheaper/easier to swap axles. I picked up a non CAD axle with the bigger joints in it for $150.

Rons machining has the carrier for $65,they usually have the gears for cheap too. http://www.ronsmachiningservice.net/carrier-cases/dana/dana-30-bare-open-differential-carrier-case-3-73-up-706008x Or call Robert at RWK haus supply. http://www.rwkhaussupply.com/magento/

Mnkyboys 89 Comanche project
mnkyboy replied to mnkyboy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Got a few minutes to mess with the MJ,i took out the stock rod for the master cylinder and made a longer one from the 1/4"-28tpi bolt i picked up. After getting the booster bolted back on i decided to bleed out the front curcuit as a test, the rear circuit is capped off since i haven't ran new lines back there yet. After fighting with a siezed bleeder that snapped off i got it bled out and everything seems to work fine, now to hook up the rear circuit and the hydraulic hand brake then the truck will be ready to stop its new tires.- 798 replies

2.5 worth rebuilding

Alot of us with 2.5l's are on there, you can't just join the forum, you have to Message Jeff on Facebook and he will add you to the forum. Kind of a pain but it makes for a very problem free forum since you have to go out of your way to be there. -
Warrior Products front bumper

It's an ok bumper if your just after the look, from what I've seen it doesn't hold up well to abuse. -
2.5 worth rebuilding
mnkyboy replied to 86 chomanche upgrade's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 2.5l when it was still TBI turned 33s pretty well with just a regear to 4.88s. Revolution gear recently released 5.13s for the stock axles so you could go even deeper. -
90 MJ 2.5 and 4x4 swap/upgrade
mnkyboy replied to 90comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I put a 91 harness in my 89,alot of stuff including the 89 steer column plugged right in. I also swapped the harnesses without pulling the dash. -
Had a brain fart,it could have either case in 92 with the CAD. All 228/229 and 242s are non CAD 84 and up. 92 up are non CAD so if it has a 231 it will still have the smaller 260x joints unless it has ABS then it would have 297X joints, around 95 they all got the 297X joints.
-
The 92 probably has a 242 case, likely also has ABS so the axle in it has bigger u joints then your CAD axle so you would be getting a shaft upgrade at the same time as ditching the CAD.

10 ga or 3/16" center unibody stiffner
mnkyboy replied to 64 Cheyenne's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mine are 3/16" and on customer builds we use 3/16",lots of people run the 10ga ones though with no problems.
