  1. Its hard to find a well kept car trailer. Most folks that own them, do not use them that much and they get negelicted. I was fortunate when I found mine. Buddy of mine bought it from a car dealership that used it for new vehicle transfers. Had brand new goodyear trailer tires. I had to put new brakes in it. Trailer new was over 3k, I paid 2,400. Once I get the MJ outa the garage, the car trailer is going in for a new paint job, LED lights, and I plan to redo the wiring for the brakes. My trailer is a 2004 MacLander medium duty trailer, licensed for 10k. Its got 8 lug axles and from the info i've found out, it sounds like its got 7k axles. I've hauled full size pickups on the trailer w/o even really squatting the trailer. You can find new trailers in the 6k-8k pound rating for around 1800-2000. Buy the biggest heaviest you can afford. You never know what you may have to haul someday.
  2. Yer running 35s. You should be checking those frequently! Glad you are okay!
  3. Ive pulled a 6000 pound truck and a 2000 pound trailer w/o any brakes. Just drive smart.
  4. Triple post! I'm ready for the software update!!
  5. double post or trippple?

  7. Finally got a solid day of work on this! First project was to get the WJ Master/Booster installed. Used a step bit to drill hole out to 5/8. Little firewall pinch seam massaging. Next project was to get the IRO Double Shear Track Bar installed and finish up the front suspension. (for now) Box coming off. Bought some of this after 3 hours of sanding on the paint and really not getting anywhere. Tried it out on a spare (junk) tailgate I had laying around. (Not yours Ben..) You can see in this picture that stripper stuff made short work of the hockey stick stickers on the side of the box. Also takes the paint off, but leaves the factory primer. I will still sand down the whole box. Found some bondo, in goofy spots around the gas filler door. Factory maybe?! That was the day. I have a solid few hours of pressure washing to do on the truck and finish stripping paint off the rest of the truck. Then off to body work, and finally paint. Gotta go get a new driver fender yet and some material to fix the drivers door hinges.
  8. "I just found out how rare these are and the price went (WAY) up." WOW No kiddin'! That was just at $3500 even this morning! :shake: Update: $6500 I should call and offer 1500.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. I know damn right ill be checking at ten gallons from now on.
  10. I bought a ball joint press from HF, works mint. I always get the 'middle of pack' pricewise for balljoints. Usually end up with a higher end of the house brand from my auto parts store. They usually have them on hand so its just easier.
  11. How dare you not have that garage kept!! :fs2: If my 5yp would find a new home, I'd have room!
  12. Ya people want stupid money for TJ D44 fronts......and they are not really worth it. Look around and you will find deals on JK Dana 44's, I got my JK dana 44 for $300, but it was missing the passenger knuckle, caliper brackets, and calipers/rotors. I'm going to have to spend a little bit for those, but I will still have less into it than I would pay most places, and could turn around and sell it for a profit if I wanted to when I was done. Its tough up where I live. I think there are probably a dozen JKs up here. Mall Crawlers... Totally agreed on the TJ Rubi 44. Would be a nice upgrade from just a 30 if you where planning 4.10 gears!
  13. More info here. http://mn-jeep.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26336 Only day of the year to get into the park w/o a paid registration pass. North Shore Wheelers will be the trail guides. Perfect for folks new to the sport!
  14. I couldn't believe what folks are getting for these 44s! Even a set of stock TJ 44s I ran across where 3500!!!

    Duluth MN

Get involved with a local club. Then you can have it done for nothing. Driveline Specialities in Duluth I know used to do gears....Not sure if they do it anymore. MN-Jeep is a good place for localish people. Most are from the metro tho. I belong to the Northern MN Jeepers...we have a few members from Duluth. Northshore Wheelers is another great club in the area. Both NMJ and NSW do NOT belong to the MN 4WD Association.
  17. How much more weight is a JK over a MJ? I would guess quite a bit. If you where to take the JK axles, build them like the JK guys do that keep the 44s, I don't think they would have any trouble standing up to 120HP and 37s. But in all honesty I'm thinking out loud. I'm currently looking for unique or different options in the axle department for my next project besides doing a D60 to run 37s. Lots of weight to contend with there. Also you would be keeping pure jeep.
  18. Brought the GF to work the other morning in the freak April snowstorm we got the other day. I ended up with about 10 inches at my house after it was all said and done. And when I got home...fired up the plowtruck and plowed the whole neigborhood.

  20. If it turns out folks want to try some wheeling, I most definately will be in my XJ. i will be wheeling... You said you where not coming in Aug. First part of October? The OHV site is a solid day of wheeling. If you have a minimum 33s and lockers, you could come run the Mesabi Mountain trail too!
  21. "I just found out how rare these are and the price went (WAY) up." WOW
