  1. This. Use SearchTemptest.com and make sure the 'ANY' option is selected and then run a search for "comanche commanche comanchee commanchee camanche camanchee" Gosh I get a kick out of this! can't even spell their own vehicles model in a forsale ad!
  2. These are great pictures. Extremely fun for a flatlander to look at!
  3. I find myself buying body clips and unique (to the vehicle) bolts and crap like that. I have a whole old fishing box fill of odds and ends. Emblems are another favorite but I have sense sold off my smallish collection. I honestly can say I have not been to the junkyard for almost 6 years. They bend you over on price so bad it rediclous. :fs2:
  4. Thank you for stopping that nonsense! Some forums that I go to occationally actually have a seperate section for dicussion of those types of things. I don't read them.
  5. Those last few are awesome!! Where where those taken? What the story on the water crossing/flooded road?
  6. I also would not waste the cash on regearing the 35 UNLESS you get the Super 35 kit with the c-clip eliminators. I have 2 buddy's with super 35s running 35 inch tires and they have never broke their Super 35. For a front axle, I wouldnt be scared to get one from a 00-01 if you cross paths with one. The LP is just a tiny bit weaker (from what i've read) then a HP. You are not really looking for strength hear, just a solution. I'm thinking you would be hard pressed to find a front 30 geared 3.73. I do believe ZJs with a towing package got those gears. That being said, I drove over 40k miles in my DD XJ on 3.55s and got around 17 IIRC. My MJ project, axles have 3.55s. Going to see how I like it and how it tows my boat, but I will probably end up going to 4.10s. Its only 500 bucks to swap gears if you have good mechanics in your Jeep Club!!
  7. I have a LUK clutch 'kit.' The slave that comes with the kit is supposed to be a good one from what i've found and read online. Since you may have to replace your slave, you might as well throw in a new clutch also.
  8. I'm looking at the cardone ones through auto zone... their specs on autozone show same diameter and weight. Alloy? If the photos are correct on autozone the 96 xj one appears to come off at an angle, but both need that 1/4" spacer correct? For me i guess the limit will be what I find at the JY. Unless i break down and buy a reman... the wj booster is more $$ and so is the MC Found a master/booster for around 74 bucks at my local junkyard. Out of a 99 WJ.
  9. This engine runs great, and since I've had it zero problems to date, and it gets 20 MPG to boot. I'm seriously considering the head gasket job, due to having to wait 6 weeks for my rear leafs anyway. Also open cooling coversion, upgrade master/booster for the brakes.....so everything is going to tore apart away....jeez decision time.

The one thing about 'snow' tires that I forgot to mention.. They are made from a softer rubber. They wear out quickly on hot, dry roads. Some folks have 2 sets of tires, winter tires and summer tires. I don't. Tires like the Cooper STT are made from the same type of rubber. They wear quickly (25k on my 31/10.50s and they where toast) but they are good in the snow!
  11. Mods should move this over to the DYI forums
  12. I had the pan off 2 years ago to replace the rear main. The pan was full of sludge. Cleaned it up, (considered just replacing) and installed it back shiny new. Huh. This gets me thinking for sure. This would be a great educational project for me for sure.
  13. Junkyard for the rear fenders. (OE) Fronts are same as a XJ obviously.
  14. That thing still has cab corners! Shes cherry! Find a XJ for a donor and fix that MJ one too!
  15. Called Hell Creek today to order my 3" lift leaf springs. 2 weeks late. Now I may have to wait up to 6 weeks for them. :wall: Oh well. Talked too a guy by the name of Tom for about a half hour on the phone. Very nice guy!! I couldnt help but order the springs from him. Hes "Hell Creek" on here. Anyway, since I'm probably not going to be seeing my suspension till the end of April or beginning of May, I started working on other things. Replaced the two vacuum harnesses today, along with installing a 97+ valve cover with new fancy fel pro gasket. Ran some engine flush through the engine, and changed the oil. Looking at this last pic, it should be white in the battery compartment. I need to find a good degreaser...I've tryed most everything I can use with my low pressure garden hose. Think ill have to load it up and haul it to a carwash.... Also did some research on brake upgrades. Picking up a master/booster out of a 01 WJ tomorrow. Should be able to get that bolted in, then Ill be on the hunt for a Liberty to steal the rear brakes off of for the disc swap on the 8.25 this truck is getting. Found my tires that I'm going to run on this truck. Jeep club member bought a new tow pig (traded a LB7 D-max in for a 6.7 Mega CTD) and took his tires off his old truck before he let it go. 265/75/16 Hankook Dynapro ATs. Once my buddy buys my built D44, ill pick them up. Sometimes deals just fall into your lap....
  16. Picking up a master/booster out of a 01 tomorrow! Now only if I could find a Liberty to do disks on my 8.25...
  17. Took a buddy of mine 27 to get from here to Vermont...Lots of big cities to travel through. IMO, you don't HAVE to drive your MJ up. There will be open seats. But you only have a 200 mile drive. If you trust to drive it across town, it would make it up here.

No chains, studded tires, none of that. In fact its illegal. Duluth, it will be handy to have 4 wheel drive because the city is built on the side of a hill. Snowy roads don't bother me a bit. I have lived up here my whole life. I've run all sorts of tires in the snow. The only ones that make a noticeable difference are the marketed "snow" tires. Never owned a set, driven a few cars with them and it helps out alot.
  19. I ran some engine flush in the system this afternoon. Changed oil with fresh Rotella and a Wix filter. Ill run it for a bit, then Ill try the marvel mystery oil. Thanks for the input!! I have run Rotella oil in this vehicle for about 6-7k. I cannot imagine that running that oil would make this worse being its a diesel rated oil with detergents. BTW, 218k on this engine.
  20. Guess my biggest worry would be the chunks falling into the engine... Thanks for the responses guys. I had a valve cover off 2 other 4.0s and a few 2.5s and never seen this much of a mess, thus the concern.
  21. I'm ready to take delivery at anytime
  22. Pulled my OE valve cover today to upgrade the gasket and the cover to the newer steel cover. I found a mess. Obviously I didnt expect it to be squeeky clean but... What can I use to clean this crap outa from around the rockers? Its not metal, almost like the old gasket melted to nothing and mixed with the oil to create a sticky, chunky oil mess all over the top of the engine. Could I use some sort of cleaner/degreaser? Or should I just scrap what I can out, put the new cover on and call it a day? I will not be able to keep the chunks from falling into the pushrod holes. Oil change right away?
  23. Is there a such thing as a 'map' of where all the grounds are? Upgrading you mean strip and use a fresh connector I imagine?
  24. That sounds pretty neat. Id definately like to check that out. Thats something I didnt even think of, take a looksee to see if any swap meets or interesting things may be going that weekend, up here.
