    Floor Jacks

No love for harbor freight? I bought their 3 ton. Works great and has been for the last year. And it was cheap enough to scrap and get a new one if something happens....my Crapsman floor jack quit working one day. My other small jack is a no name that's at least 15 years old; works mint. I like spending big money on parts, not tools! My cheap harbor freight jack, engine picker, 6 ton jack stands, Pittsburg hand tools have treated me great!!!!
  2. seriously?? cause ive been thinking all along that frame stiffeners were gonna be par for the course when youre getting into the 37"+ club. the LII frame stifferners are nice, but is nothing on the lower area, around the LCA's needed?? Yes. The MJ uniframe is stronger overall then a XJ. But it's not a bad idea to ad some extra beef when you are throwing heavy axles and tires under a MJ IMO.
  3. Good eye. There is actually 3 of them there. 2 whites and a red. One white is going on the first scrap load this spring due to serious rust issues. I gotta get my parts inside been everything has been kinda mess lately.
  4. Ahhh October.. I'm open EVERY weekend except the weekend Ben posted, :wall: but I can most likely change my vacation. If October it is, as most know that will be probably be peak fall colors. Gilbert OHV is a solid day. Yes even you folks with 2wd Jeeps, will be able to get around and watch the "wheelers" without a problem. The park is a old mine dumping area with old haul roads for core roads with many trails right off the road. You'll have to purchase a ORV reg for 37.50 to drive your rig into the park. The permit is good for 3 years. This also applys to the MMT. (see next paragraph) Also, by October the the Mesabi Mountain Trail should be open. This trail was built by my club and I the last few years. Information can be found here: http://mn-jeep.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19085. Once again, as of today the trail is not open, but should be open by June. This would be for the more hardcore of the bunch (33s and lockers minimum, although some may argue 35s minimum). I do have a 'bus' (XJ) so moving people out to watch a few MJs in action is possible. This is also a whole day. As you will see, we have a 'rest area' complete with a park style grill. If we decide to center this around Gilbert, there is a nice campground called Sherwood Forest right on Lake Ore B Gone with ORV access to the park. Also if someone decides not to drive there beloved truck into the park, you could take your ATV.. But I do have lots of room at my house for camping also. Like Ben stated above, there are also LOTS of old logging roads with lots of nice areas to travel through. Like a mini UA type of deal. Mixture of highway and 2 tracks that run MILES through the woods. I would take my 2wd tho.. I've lived up here my whole life and know most of them. We have lots of old glacial lakes and rock formations up here. Also, 60 miles away in Duluth, there is the shipping industry that is fun to watch. Lift bridge, lots of unique shops etc. The shopping part is not really my thing but...yea. Thats alot to think about. Lots of things to keep a few Jeepers that have never been to area busy, is the bottom line. Any questions, feel free to ask.
  5. Paying in that much your age? I think the max I have paid in was 15 dollars to state...I'm 23.
  6. Worked for a bit today to finish up the front suspension save for the track bar. Got a call to go into work tomorrow so It killed my ju ju for the day. Back on four wheels for now. Also spent a little time attempting to clean up the greasy mess on the drivers side of the engine compartment and the frame rail where the track bar mounts and back. Had a beer and called it a day. Still gotta order spring perches and Hell Creek 3" leafs. Maybe next week.
  7. Best prime rib in northeastern MN
  8. This Jeep is now FOR SALE only on CC. If anyone is interested please contact me about it. I will only sell it to someone that will put it on the road. It doesnt owe me nothing. Just lost interest in this one I guess. Truck is 95% rust free with a clear title in my name. As of 3/17, for sale ad has been expanded to my local Jeep forum.
  9. Yeah, this is the problem. Hard to find decent stuff up here that isnt rusty or banged up already. Anybody ever shipped fenders successfully? Was it affordable?
  10. I think it was the junkyard owners truck. It was not in a area that could of been pilfered for parts. His grandson was driving it for a few weeks and decided he didnt want a truck, wanted a car. Stripped the donor 30 tonight and got it laying under the jeep. Got forced to go out to dinner with my sister and brother in law. :shake:
  11. New build thread with actual progress happening! Circa: 2008 I bought this truck a few years ago. I moved from Northern MN to Casper, Wyoming a few years ago to work as a welder for a company that builds mining equipment. I was looking at CL one day and spotted this truck on there for 800 bucks. Drove 200 miles in a snowstorm to go look at it at a creepy junkyard in Cheyanne by myself. I bought it the next weekend and drove it 200 miles home. (to casper) Truck had 212k. 88/4.0/pukey/2wd. I ended up moving back home shortly after buying this pretty much rust free, awesome running, grandpa owned since new, truck. A buddy of mine's boss drives OTR; he hauled it home for me. Pic the day after I got it at my apartment in Casper. After I got it home to MN. With the painted snowflake wheels gone! Overlooking a local steel mine. I used the truck as a couple times a week DD for work which was a 40 mile one way commute. I did regular small fixes on the truck but it proved its stone dead relibility over and over. Changed the rear main seal on a sheet of plywood in my parents dirt driveway was the biggest fix to date. Did nothing but change oil and put gas in, in 2009, 2010. 2011, I found some turbines with decent tires and mounted them up. Pulls my ATV trailer nice. Sold my DD XJ. Been driving my CTD as a DD most of this winter. Working on my MJ plow truck and wheeling XJ took up most of my time this winter. Finally got the garage cleaned out last week and pulled it inside. Started pulling parts. 2wd front gone! Ordered some parts, More pics of what I'm dealing with: Under passenger side rear window. Cracks..... Tail lights need attention Thats pretty much all I got for now. Plans: "Restomod" Combination IRO/Hell Creek suspension parts to get to 3" of lift New UCAs and LCAs New ball joints, hubs, brakes on 98 XJ HP Dana 30, 3.55 New brake lines Replace all hoses/vaccum lines Valve cover (97+ steel) with new gasket Open cooling conversion Fix Drivers door hinge New driver front fender Might replace doors or at least the driver door New bumpers F and R JCR front basic and homebrew rear bumper with receiver hitch Get rid of junky tool box and replace with MJ rollbars or new toolbox 265/75/16 tires on TJ Rubicon wheels Chysler 8.25 swap with disc brakes Bright White paint New windshield and rear slider New WJ master cylinder/booster (gotta do more research on brakes) Maybe a clutch (hoping this one will make it to the trans swap) These are the plans for now to get the Jeep roadworthy again. I have not decided what I would like to do for a transmission/t-case yet so it will stay 2wd for now. I plan to use as a DD in the warm months. Future hopeful plans, NSG370/NV3550/AX-15 swap with 231 or 242 case Line X bed liner Interior work, rebuild bench seat, new steering wheel, shift boots 4:10 gears (axles have 3.55s now) Bushwacker Flat Flares I'm not very good at telling 'stories' like this so please if I missed something important, please speak up. :wavey: Stay tuned...
  12. Anymore input? Gotta order a Driver fender for my 88 and I don't want junk! Unless I find a OE fender thats nice.
  13. My 88 was about 40 bucks/month. My 00 XJ was also 40 bucks/month. My 08 Dodge, WAY to much. :headpop: Just waiting to turn 25 so things drop.
  14. hmm. Is adoption the new official CC word for buying/selling nowadays? I've heard that from neohic, and now you! I like it. Nice ring to it.
  15. I like Stacey David and his show. Always have. Those truck U guys could do without adding "dude" or "man" to every sentence!!
  16. Did you taste it? :jump: Seriously, most likely water got in through the vent tube and mixed with oil to give you what you have there. If the air temp is cold, it would be worse.
  17. 1988 MJ, 4.0/Pukey/2wd 18-20 mostly highway 2004 KJ, 3.7/auto/231 10-13 city 2008 Ram 6.7 Cummins, 13-14 before now 17-23 depending on speed. I find it amusing the biggest, heaviest vehicle that I have, gets the best mileage!
  18. Thanks for the input. I'm sure someone on here has used their floor pans. I'm talking less than a 100 bucks for parts, but I don't want to order them again!
  19. I'm looking for some quality replacement parts. Headlight doors and a Drivers side fender to start. I have played with parts from Certifit (sortafit) before and was less then pleased with the quality. Can anyone tell me about Sherman Resto parts?
  20. thats great. but you probably had to work a 13 hr shift in the fall :fs1: Yep. Only if it falls that way on my squedule. I actually work 13s. I start an hour early to start pickup inspections. So I will work a 12 technically, usually a 13 hour shift every other day.
  21. Do you happen to have a part number? If the thing breaks, its never more then 100 feet from the garage so its not going to be a big deal. Thanks for the input, I will not be doing that to something that I drive and depend on thats for sure.
  22. Interesting. I wonder if the NV3550 is the same with the first gear thing. Would be nice for plucking a boat out of the lake ie. the low first gear.
  23. I work midnights that night, 6p to 6a. We only work a 11 hour shift.
  24. Yes is the short answer. Will need to swap the pedals, install the TCM, (mounting holes are already there) you may have to use the x-member from the automatic jeep, drive shafts.
  25. I'm not so sure there is much of a difference. Might be 1/2" or so. I have 2wd MJ springs outa my 88 laying next to 4x4 XJ springs out of a 98, and they are VERY close. I'm thinking the 1/2' difference is because the settling of the MJ from the last 24 years.
