Stay the heck away from that tow strap with a hook. Thats just as bad as using a chain. I personally have never seen anyone use a Badlands winch on the trail. But what I have seen and heard from folks using cheap winches is as long as you can feed them plenty of power, they seem to work great.

Id do a 3.5-4in lift with some nice mud terrains in either a 31" or 32" size. Remember adding bumpers and other heavy components, is going to rob some of your fuel mileage! Doing that, you will save yourself from HAVING to mod the drivetrain, and it still makes for a comfortable DD. I DDed a 2000 XJ for a few years on 31s with a 3.5 Super Ride Rubicon Express Lift and it was fine. 40k miles on those AALs! Have fun with it!

I have used the Hobart 140 and the Miller equivilent in industry for a few year with both machines. Both ran flawless. The hobart lived on a barge, wet, hot, cold life! Now Ive had a lincoln 110 in my garage for the last few years. Used maybe twice a month. It just took a dump the other day. Will not feed. Gun is fine, must be something internal...... more food for thought!

Been researching and stressing a bit about paint for this truck. I'm not set up with any sort of painting or body tools, or a way to get this painted w/o making a huge mess. We had one of these rip through northern MN last night. 80mph winds, probably a inch or two of rain, quarter size hail.....all lasted maybe 20 min. Temp even up here in the north country is 97 today. Makes me sick. I'm hiding in the house with the AC blasting.

My front suspension is Iron Rock Offroad parts. Coils, LCAs, Double Shear Track Bar. Rear leafs from Hell Creek. I waited 6 weeks for them, but the wait was definately worth it. Just make sure you paint them as soon as you take delivery. I used the 3" lift springs.

If they do have one, they will not just sell the backing plates either. One guy got honestly pissed when I told him I wanted the backing plates. He told me I would have to buy the whole axle for 500 bucks. Some choice words where said and I told him he was out of his mind trying to get that much money outa a 8.25 and he hung up on me. That was the closest I got to set a Liberty backing plates besides her libby parked in the driveway.. :thwak:

I got an aluminum 3-row Advanced Adapter radiator on Ebay. fir just over $100 bucks, and free shipping. Try Rockauto.com, or Amazon.com, sometimes they have really good prices, and free shipping. Ron Rock auto doesnt list any 3 rows....save you a few min anyway.

Use Rottella 10w30 or 15w40 diesel oil with a WIX filter. Amsoil gear oil in the diffs, amsoil 10w30 in tcase and cheap auto parts store ATF 4 or whatever in the trans.

Ok.. The relay did fix 75% of the problem. It still chuggs but just a tiny bit. Its managable and did get the truck back on the road to DD status. I'm going to change the IAC. And the CEL light came back. Have yet to check to see if its the same code.

The FSM for my '88 4.0L Cherokee specifically says not to turn the flywheel. Really? Does it say why? We sure turned a bunch of them. IIRC I remember reading that they had a slight bevel to them. If they where machined flat, obviously the bevel is no more. Sounds like it will 'work' just eat the clutch disk up faster and will not operate like it should.

Its a jeep unibody thing. I have owned XJs that have done that as well. My guess would be the trackbar. Find yourself a plus size to ride shotgun with ya. Problem solved. :D :eek: :wrench:

Yes. On a 4.0 you cannot.
