  1. Just finished my rear axle service (Yes Pete, I put bearings, seals, and new fluid into a D35C  ), and I just wanted to share my findings... Turns out, I had special gold flaked fluid in the rear axle, must have been a rare option from jeep. :teehee: It had nothing to do with my carrier bearings grenading at all. ;) So, next question, I have heard that diff bearings in the ZJ's are common, but is there anything else I should be looking at with both of these suckers bit the dust? I was thinking the somewhat grabby NP249, but not sure... Just a ZJ thing? Lets just say the ride home was the quiet I have been searching for. Only took 2 complete axle re-builds. :brows: Rob L.
  2. Sounds unplanned then? Met the father? Hopefully a good head on the shoulders... Rob L.
  3. X2. I would love a road trip right now. Michigan is beautiful country too. Rob L.
  4. Cool... he can go back an get it then... I saw one the other day for $6500 on a lot over near Rob... What lot would this be? Rob L.
  5. There was an XJ on govdeals.com awhile ago that was column shift with buckets... For the life of me now... I can't remember what was inbetween the seats... Could have been nothing, since it was a police package XJ, but might have been center console delete. :dunno: Rob L.
  6. The dash comes out super easy, once you have it out, its pretty straight forward... Rob L.
  7. Holy crap. Thats all I can say. Was EMS support close by while you enjoyed that? Rob L.
  8. Hmm, off road service? What could be serviced off road? I wouldn't think big equipment, the truck would be to small to haul anything substantial. Maybe like a quad/dirtbike shop? Truck seems to flashy/optioned out to be like a company car like a railroad or communications truck. I would say a small business that would be interested in catching an eye with a company truck... That bothers me now and I don't even own it. Did you try carfax? I think they give you previous owners. DMV might too, maybe a small fee involved. Interested to find out. Rob L.
  9. Its best to swap EVERYTHING over from the donor if going from renix era(86-90) to mopar era (91-92). Rob L.
  10. And this is where the fists come out, and politics rage... Rob L.
  11. I think the safety chains hook up the the structural support under the ball mount. Rob L.
  12. I got the whole shebang to pop out with a little help from a prybar. I just left the caps on loose so the carrier wouldn't kiss me when it finally let go. The whole bearing kit, with seals, races and whatnot, only costs about $80. Rob L.
  13. Rob L.
  14. Darn! I had the opportunity to buy one. I now regret it. What did you get for milage? Horrible I'm sure... Rob L.
  15. :agree: Modify some sheet metal hidden under the carpet, not your driveline. Rob L.
  16. I tried, looks like pete will have to tend to that one. Rob L.
  17. How'd ya like the 5.9 Limited? Rob L.
  18. Yeah, having a kid might ruin your plans. Just tell her you want the kids first experience to be in a comanche, and deliver it in the pickup bed yourself. Might as well start 'em young. Rob L.
  19. Did you pull the carrier out? My carrier and pinion bearings did the same thing on the front. Straight line they were somewhat quiet, turning they had a growl. Look for some pitting... Rob L.
  20. Payments might work. Maybe we can talk about it on saturday. Rob L.
  21. Have you pulled the centerpin to look at its condition? That might tell you right off if there is some grooves in it. Rob L.
  22. At this point, I REALLY need to sell another vehicle, be it crotch rocket or XJ, before I can afford that. I might be able to pinch some cash out, but not to where we agreed. :( Oh, and the alchol Correy? Bad experience? I probably won't bring any. Rob L.
  23. Oh, didn't realize he did it as a joke. But still. At least he knows his humor... and knew that that would just happen anyway. Rob L.
  24. I think thats ok. Is there any abnormal wear marks or anything behind the spiders? Silver looking fluid? Lots o' crap on the fill plug? Rob L.
  25. Besides the normal junk of having way too many jeeps/parts/and a want for more, I just reached the 500 post level with this one, offically giving me the addict title. Rob L.
