WBKrazy replied to Gr8plainsDriftr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
not 100% sure, but didnt some 3.9 dakotas have the ax-15 as well? the bellhousing would definitely be different, and maybe the gear ratios as well... -
New owner looking for Peugeot advice
WBKrazy replied to GP2001's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
welcome! the ax-15 is a much better unit, but the pukegoat should be ok as long as you don't go crazy with the truck..... -
i hate using tire spoons! that way is good for an emergency trail repair but it's worth it to me to spend the money to have them mounted and balanced if I'm not out in the woods... i used to work at a truck shop where we mounted tires, removing a 295-75-r22.5 with spoons isn't all that bad, but try changing a 425/65/r24.5 with them... luckily where i work now we get the truck tires premounted on refurbed wheels

Repost from another site, thought this was pretty darn funny Why guys don’t want to be friends with a girl who breaks up with them… I know a girl who broke up with a guy and she told him she wanted to “still be friends.” He said, “No thanks.” She wondered why he couldn’t fall back to being just friends after they had a romantic relationship. I came up with the ”McDonalds Analogy” to try and explain it in a simple way that would help all women understand this tough question. Imagine if you went to McDonalds a lot and ordered a Big Mac Combo meal. A Big Mac, Large Fries and a Coke. You really like this meal. One day, you pull up to the drivethrough and order the Big Mac Combo meal and the girl tells you, “I’m sorry - you can have the Big Mac and the Coke, but you can’t get fries with that anymore.” You think about this for a moment, and sure - the Big Mac is the centerpiece of the meal, but McDonalds has some really good fries and you like their fries with your meal. So you say, “I’ve been able to get fries with that before, why can’t I have fries with my Big Mac combo anymore?” The girls says, ”Well, I just think it is better if you only have the Big Mac and the Coke from here on out.” At this point, a lot of guys are going to go to Wendy’s or BK and see if they can get fries with their combo at that drivethrough window. But there are some guys who REALLY like McDonalds Big Macs and they might think, “If I keep coming here and ordering the Big Mac and Coke, maybe she’ll change her mind and give me some fries with that later.” So they will keep on getting the combo without the fries until the deal breaker happens: One day that guy is going to order the Big Mac and Coke and then he’s going to pull up a little bit to pay, and someone else is going to pull up to the drivethrough speaker and order the “Big Mac Combo” and he is going to hear the girl say, “Would you like fries with that?”

Nice! I almost bid on one of these a few weeks ago, but I couldn't think of anywhere in the house where I needed a clock so I passed on it.. It's cool that they make custom ones too, you could send them as gifts or advertise your business with them.. :brows:

all that for $40? wow! the local yard i go to here wanted $60 for just a tailgate! i'm moving to montana!
-
yeah good luck man, hopefully you can find a good place

i say go for the fullsize doors in the back, everyone does 1/2's and it'd be cool to see one done differently...

i've always wanted to go there... it was my plan to drive the dalton highway the summer after high school ended, but lack of funds and a falling out with the kid who was supposed to be my co-pilot put the lid on those plans.... someday i'll make the trip

not 100% sure, but i beleive that the ignition switch is adjustable... the switch may not be adjusted to the right spot, but i think if you loosen up the 2 nuts that hold it on the switch can slide back and forth on the column, so it may be too far forward and not allowing the lock cylinder to turn all the way back...

i think all the xj seats will go back to the wall... mine do, but i'm 5'6 and i can't drive it like that :rotf:

nice mj, i like the 2 tone scheme... yeah, the doors are the same as 4-door xj front doors, and front end parts are the same as the xj, so door panels and such from one of them will work.... the ones with the storage bins were on the truck when i got it, don't know if theyre original or not but ive got no reason to believe they aren't.... as far as the seats go, i think its just an illusion because ive got them reclined a little, but you actually sit just a little bit higher on the buckets than the bench.. you might also want to put up a "want to buy burgundy interior parts" thread on here, you never know what someone might be hoarding 'round these parts... :brows:

i didnt use the rear bracket either, it moves a little bit but not all that much... i have a subwoofer wedged up against it tho, so it might move around a little bit more if i didnt.... :dunno: eventually i think I'm gonna get a couple small L-brackets and use those to secure the back...

no problem! here's one with the bench and a couple with the buckets, they're from a '94 4door... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found

the seat tracks for the xj and mj are the same, but the floorpan is just different enough that xj seat mounts won't work.... mj buckets are plug and play(if you can find a set) but barring that, 86 to 94 xj seats are the easiest to swap in, 95 and up seats have completely different seat tracks that you can't easily adapt mj mount brackets to.... it sounds hard, but it's really not....took me roughly 2 hours to do the job, and that included running to the hardware store for a cheap electric drill when my cordless drill's battery went dead, and vacuuming up all the nastiness collected under the old seat after i removed it..just be prepared to break a bunch of 1/4 drill bits drilling out the rivets for the mount brackets... i bought a 10 pack from harbor freight and broke 6 of them when the rivet drilled through and the brackets shifted... there's 16 total rivets that hold the mounting brackets to the seat tracks that you need to drill out(4 each on the buckets, and 8 on the bench...), and a couple spot welds that are easily broken with a medium sized hammer and chisel... once you drill all the rivets out and break the spot welds, you just bolt the mj bench mount brackets to the xj bucket seat tracks with 1/4 bolts and locknuts.. i wish i could help you with pics, but i didnt take any while i was doing the swap, twas done before i knew about this place and it's member's insatiable hunger for knowledge..

i love the rampages! a kid i went to high school with had one that he put a 2.2 turbo in, and that thing flew! and as far as the ridgeline goes, i'm still not sure why chevy hasn't sued them for copying the design of the avalanche.... :dunno:
