switching odometers from cluster to cluster....
WBKrazy replied to WBKrazy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the truck is an '88, the replacement cluster is from a 90, it's actually the one from the motor donor.. thanks for the info! -
yeah man coming up soon... me and mike should be starting the work in a week or so.. you're more than welcome to swing by and help us out!

R.I. here, on the MA border near Attleboro... i think it would be great if we could get everyone from this area together somewhere, even if it's not for wheeling and just a meet and greet...

excatly how did you "smoke" it? i think i oversped the motor and cooked something, i was going about 85 mph on the highway when all of a sudden it started popping/surging/losing power, until the fastest i could go was about 50... got off the highway at the next exit, and at this point you could tell there was a skip, and it was shooting a cloud of thick blue-grey smoke out the tailpipe.. i opened the hood, and EVERYTHING was soaked with oil, i think it came out of the breather at the top of the valve cover but i'm not sure.. started it up and figured out the #1 jug had a dead skip, spark getting to the plug but not firing... pulled the plug out and the end of it was covered with a ton of greasy black goop... threw a new plug in it, and the dead skip was still there, so i'm thinking that maybe the rings had it :dunno: :huh???: 85? One of those huge hills of RI must have helped you get the 2.5 to 85. it'll get up there.... it takes about 3 weeks but it will get there :rotf:

i had my gf with me and she has basic triple a, so i only had to pay for the mileage

well, i smoked the 2.5 yesterday :headpop: so i guess this means i'll be starting my 4.0 swap a little sooner than i thought.... can anyone point me in the direction of the 2.5 to 4.0 swap threads? i needs to do me some research, and i tried searching but to no avail......

picked up a 91 4.0 with 141k on the clock and an aw4 with the same from mike (comanche87).... here it is in the back of my other truck Image Not Found .... i have most of the stuff needed to do the swap, need a few more things, and i have one major question..... has anyone on here ever turboed a 4.0? i haven't seen any, but i haven't really been looking..... if anyone on here has and could give me tips it'd be greatly appreciated.... i've been thinking about building a turbo kit while the engine is on a stand.... kinda torn too, between keeping it 2wd, or picking up a 242 and 4wd front axle and building a syclone clone.... :brows:

what a bullshyte waste of taxpayer dollars this whole program is... i watched a ton of youtube videos yesterday showing engines being detroyed and i think out of all of them i saw only 5 or 6 of the cars being traded looked crushworthy.. all this scrap iron theyve just created could have helped families that can't afford new cars.. and by reselling them you could recoup some of our money thats being doled out hand over fist to everyone but the people who need it.. gotta love the government, only they could come up with a plan like this... "say there, skeezix, i've got an idea: why don't we buy old cars for TWICE what theyre actually worth, and then destroy them!" "why thats brilliant!"

well i guess the kids are safe now lol..... i wonder if theyre selling all the bigwheels from the neverland ranch? :brows:

i always thought the comanches were cool, this kid russ i went to high school with had a red one, a pioneer i think, and he lived near me so i caught rides home with him every once in a while... i bought my mj last spring, when gas was at 4.00 a gallon and climbing.. i was looking for something good on gas... i know what youre thinking, "who the hell buys a jeep for the gas mileage?" yeah I'm that guy lol, but at the time i had a 91 bronco and an 01 crown vic, and i had $1k saved up to buy something good on gas... saw the mj on craigslist, it was a 2wd with a 2.5 and a 4spd.. and that is where the addiction started.....

i may be going up tomorrow and sunday, i was wondering if anyone else from here was gonna be there......
