  1. I needed a new hard drive today, as I filled both of my 500gb ones, so I went to get one was going to get another 500 gb but they had 1tb for 64$, I remember those being closer to 120$ 4 years ago when I originally built my computer I'm pleasantly supersized at how much prices have come down, maybe in a few years I'll be able to afford a few solid state drives.
  2. Keep in mind that I used seats out of a 90 xj but i just drilled out the weld of my mj bench then welded them to the xj seat slider and worked just fine. I have a few pics in my build thread.
  3. so I spent some time working on my MJ today and I finally got my motor back in :D here are some pictures :)))))))))))) looks like I beat the firewall enough, because its fitting :) I reused the rubber mount from the donor XJ because they where still in got shape, not dried out or rotting unfortunately by the time I got everything in it was too dark for pictures, so those will come later.
  4. you seem to be getting lucky with all those 4.10 8.25, there are 0 4cyl xj where I live, like none I've only ever seen one and it was an 85.
  5. You're right, I'm disappointed in myself, it was one sentence and I didn't even read it right :/
  6. didn't shelbyluv do this swap on one of his trucks?
  7. The person won't let you try and put one on to test? because I taught the same thing when I picked up a set of 15" nissan rims for my corolla last november and I still haven't been able been able to sell/trade them, thought my initial investment in them was 0$ so I'm not really out anything other than some room in my parts shed.
  8. I like how the teeth for the door key are non existent :P
  9. you have bats in your garage?
  10. nice car, good call going non turbo.
  11. with an auto they probably want flexplate ;)
  12. mine all stock for now. but I do have a set of 31s laying around.
  13. I might. Ill take a look after work tomorrow.
  14. Yeah... on the bright side my corolla is really nice to work on other then the rust. Which i think is actually worse then on my MJ.
  15. most of AMC's cars were being built in eastern Canada by the time my jeep was built...
  16. quick rant, got all the motor mount swapped from 2.8L to 4L but why the hell the the topside bolts 9/16th and the bottom 15mm, why couldn't they both be the same :/ preferably 15mm because canada.
  17. this is a picture of my firewall, where is it that I need to introduce the hammer too? thanks you. Nic
  18. Too long! :D Honestly, the gearing part was easy.. getting bearings off and on was the most pain in the butt part. Not having the right tools for that was the largest time sink. I'd say I spent a good 2.5 WEEKS just figuring out how to press and remove bearings between the two axle regears. My town is full of rich idiots who have zero practical skill sets of any kind.. This means that parts and hardware stores are scarce. If you go a few counties over, their grocery store has more tools than our best tool store. When I say parts are scarce, I mean I spent 3 days going to 7 stores trying to find a piece of pipe that would fit over the 8.25 pinion to use as a press. Never did find one.. By complete chance, I noticed that the ball joint press kit had a sleeve that was the exact size I needed. Mind you, I only have a few hours here and there to work on this project. The regear took about a full day of labor per axle. I'm extremely technical and nitpicky and end up spending a lot of time double and triple checking over things, or adjusting. Things like checking backlash on every single tooth, while spinning and seating/oiling the bearings. If you're meticulous, you'll spend several hours with setup bearings just adjusting and testing different shims and patterns. The Dana 30 was actually the easiest to do. Everything is a nice size to work with and once you have your setup bearings, it's just time consuming and not extremely difficult if you understand the math and what you're doing. I made a boo boo and had to completely undo and remove my carrier once I had finally set everything up because the cross pin wouldn't cross the ring gear! I didn't have the tools to shave a tooth, so I just unbolted the ring and did the spider setup and replaced it. thanks for the response, ^ this would have probably been me if I hadn't found a jy TJ with 4:10
  19. How long did it take you to do the gears?
  20. alright, so I finally got some stuff done one the jeep but laziness on fixing my computer and house sitting did imped my posting of it. first of picked up 5 rims with 31" for 80$ the tires have a little cracking in them, but the tread is almost new and for 80$ I can't complain. I also got my interior put back in. [/url] I haven't bothered with replacing the carpet yet, or headliner. also found this in an xj with 160xxxkm on the clock installing the 4:10 dana 30, also turns out 86 high pinion rotors don't fit 98 low pinion hubs. also in none comanche news finally got myself a decent air compressor alone with a few other new tools. compressor hose reel problem i hadn't bought enough hard line initially and had to go back for more.
  21. that rear bumper is clean, Nice.
  22. Looks nice. What are those mirrors off of?
  23. hmm i'll have to take a closer look at mine and see if I really want to butcher it just for convenience sake.
  24. I was thinking of setting it up like in new cars where they have a female end in the head unit then use a double male for ipod to head unit.
  25. If one was so incline to use a female end instead of a male, would it be the same process?
