: yeah that: :agree: Had the same symptoms you posted , it was the column switch on mine . There are a number of " How To " threads with pictures to help you through the replacement process . In the meantime , just plug-in the new switch at the column junction to get you by until you have studied up on the swap procedure . I won't kid you .....It's a SOB job :headpop:

Ranger 60/40 Bench Seat Installed
vaquaro replied to Abyx's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I really like this swap , as I would like to have buckets ,but need a bench at times so this setup would be ideal  I'm vertically challenged at 5'7" so the higher seat works for me . Could you give more detail /pics of your install ? -
Suggestions for taking a 2WD offroad

:agree: The come-a-long is a great tool , with a danforth boat anchor it works even when no trees or rocks within reach  -
Suggestions for taking a 2WD offroad

 Get yourself a " Trax-mat " bed bladder , they are baffled so water doesn't slosh . Adds up to 300# right where you need it for extra traction . When your done off-roading ,just pull the plug . I leave mine in year-round as the mat is durable enough to throw anything on it without damaging it . -
Temp. sender : L.S. rear cyl. head (1 wire ) Oil sender: @ oil filter adapter . Plug & play , remove old , replace with new. Tach. will most likely need to be re-calibrated ( "search" tach. pot adjustment ) Normal idle 8-1200 rpm . Hopefully you bought cluster from 88-90 MJ/XJ , if not return/exchange it .

You ain't the the first :brows: The other curve is the thermostat housing , drips coolant the same way onto the lower hose . My regular maintenance now is to replace the pump, thermostat ( & flat file housing , seal with aviation gasket seal ) every 2 years . I've done it road-side way too many times :shake: no more .Needless to say, don't over-tighten the serpentine belt . Cheers  Gord

How to get better fuel milage?
vaquaro replied to Live For God's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This topic always comes up concurrently with gas prices  Regarding Jennsens post , probably converted to Imperial gal.( 10% more than US gal.) , roads /hiways around Calgary are mostly flat and maintained better than any where else in Canada , the man obviously keeps his trucks in good repair/tune . ....Here on the Wet Coast I commute 40 km each way to work , about 50% hiway & 50% stop and go city ,complete with steep hills . Winter mileage 13.5 litres/100 km (20.8 mpg ) , Summer 12.5 l/100 km (22.5 mpg ) Strait hiway @ 100kph + 11.5 l/100km (25.5 mpg ) , Strait hiway @ under 100kph 10.5 l/100km (26.8 mpg ) . I should add my hiway drives are usually mountainous , using 3rd gear often to climb the steeper sections . That,s my $0.02  -
Not sure about the broken clip idea , but replacement lock sets ( one if you want carry an extra key ) are cheap . They're a little fiddley to install , good light and a mirror helps :wrench:

Try checking all elec. connections with special attention to the ground located behind your left tail light  -

My Wife and I were touring the San Juans About a month ago . Anacortes to San Juan , Stayed at Roche Harbor Resort ( Amazing , hated to leave ) then back to Whidbey and down to Langley village for the night ( story book town ) . Then over to Everett for a tour of the Boeing Plant . We're lucky to live so close to Washington state , and often take long weekend tours . Try the "Cascade Loop " tour

I found cracked insulation in a few places , temporarily taped it up but plan to replace/fabricate new loom for the entire cab to tail lights section . The wire is really brittle in a number of places so all new with a 10ga. jumper ground back to the battery will be included in the re-fit . I hate doing electrical work :headpop:

--- COMANCHE OF THE MONTH - JUNE 2012 ---

:Canadaflag: Alberta has a lot of natural resources .....You're one of them   -
Ground seemed OK , but re-cleaned it again . I'll have to pull the loom apart (gauge goes back to normal if I wiggle the loom ) to find where the weak wire/insulation may be shorting out ? :hmm: Well after 22 yrs. the wiring might be a tad worn :shake:

Gas gauge going past full mark ( milage indicates it should be at the 1/4 mark ) then recovers back about 1/2 . I think it's probably a ground problem because the needle fluxuates in time with the turn signals/ brakes when turned on . Am I correct that the ground is the one behind the left tail light ? Are there other connections I should be checking ? :dunno:
