Getting sidetracked helping a buddy out with a TJ 2.5 rebuild....had a leaking (not blown) head gasket, my guess is the RTV some PO used to seal the head had something to do with it. -
Slip yoke but its enclosed.

Anyone seen this? Looks like someone had some leftover Jeep parts laying around.

Hang in there man!

For 4x4 launches a 249 with a good VC isn't too bad. I imagine a 242 in full time would be okay, but I'd opt for the 242HD from a WJ for the bigger output shaft. You'd have to do something different to run a speedo since the WJ doesn't run it off the TC.

Backdraft has another nice one, 97' conversion.

Need to get off my tail and finish it, had a little holiday delay and I've been a little under the weather lately. Some JY scores, another 4.10 29 spline 8.25, Trac loc from a Dakota, D30 3.73 carrier, some cheap amazon LED lights, the obligatory cupholder, and some 280z vents I pulled a while back. Not sure if I'll use the vents, I might cut the front off the right one so they're identical. %50 off weekend so pulled another 4.10 8.25" w/ ebrake handle, a ZJ box and a compressor from a 92' Brougham. Just a carrier swap, backlash is at .006, I think the pattern is good. Its a challenge keeping everything clean working outdoors, but I've got a little parts washer and lots of brake cleaner. This Trac loc is nice and tight, came out of a 98' Dak. -
Just friendly eye poking...

Funny you mention a 240. Lately I've been looking for 240s to pull Dana 30 LSDs.

Renix forever!!! . :MJ 1: .

There's a reason why there are more HOs in the bone yard than renix models. Its because HO owners aren't as intelligent as as Renix owners. They simply don't know how to change the oil or check the coolant.

Dome light fix
Comanche County replied to Fernando87mj's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Nice! Every MJ owner should do it. There's some LED bulbs that would fit in there too. -
Our sage has spoken, I'm off to buy some JD.

Is anyone else sick? I was down hard around Christmas, I feel fine now but still coughing my brains out. First time in many years I haven't had a flu shot, sure enough I got it. A woman that works at the local walmart recently died from flu complications. I've seen several news reports stating it's been an epidemic flu year.

A buddy and I recently built his hunting rig. Its a 95' with a 4" lift, 32" mud tires, 8.8 LSD and 4.10s, Nate's front and rear bumpers with recievers for a cradle winch. The roof basket is a Walmart version with some selective supportive welding/bracing with an extra roof slider for support in the middle of the basket. For carrying deer he made a cargo carrier which slides in the rear reciever. A truly offensive LED light bar is on top. Its got a lot of little touches. He also uses it to tow his duck boat. I like what he did with the carpet, just rip out the rear cargo area. Keep the front carpet it, helps keep the Jeep warm.

reusing Amc head bolts?
Comanche County replied to BlackBeast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think they're a sorta hybrid TTY bolt and can be re-torqued 2-3 times max -
Some DOM and heims, a cool hand knitted camo beanie from the mom-in-law.

Been raining and haven't touched it in a few days. But here's a few more pics. I also picked up a used set of 32/11.50/15 BFGs - old kind. The Rodeo bumps, they'd bolt right on. I could just buy new bumps but that would be cheating... :thwak: I'm thinking about welding on some extra spring perches as a contact point for the bumps on the axle. The one on the left is a rear FourRunner bump, I think it would work up front but I couldn't get the other off. The others are off of Jimmy's/Bravadas. They'd work too but the large cup they snap into wouldbe so big in the coil it would make removing and installing the coils a hassle. Cut the pinch seam and hammered it home, I think I ought to weld up the cuts though. I was also wandering the yard and found this Discovery. I was hoping to find a compressor but this one didn't have the air suspension... :dunno: I don't know much about Rovers...but it did have a nice Italian made bottle jack that the counter girl let me have for free! Another little easter egg for the XJ. I actually don't like the way the front is turning out. These JY bilsteins are a little too much shock for this amount of lift. I'll only have about three inches of up travel before they bottom out. So I have a lot of bumpstop in the coils. Down travel should be pretty good though. I think I might try some longer springs...not sure yet. Haven't cut this side's pinch seam yet... -
