I've got a small kiddie with the plastic mounting bracket screwed to the lower vertical portion of the roll bar below the top of the bed. If a fire breaks out under/in the dash, I don't think it's of any benefit to remain in the cab and try to put it out. You can quickly be overcome by noxious fumes generated by a vehicle fire...plus it would take balls of steel to sit there and try to extinguish a fire that would quickly engulf the cab. If smoke starts pouring from the dash, best to get out ASAP. Put your extinguisher in the bed and fight it from the outside. It will only take a few seconds for a small extinguisher to empty its contents anyway. Without an installed fire suppression system, its best to have two or more bottles, extinguish one, call 911, then go to your secondary bottles. Then get away from the vehicle. One could make a good argument for diesel fuel when it comes to fire suppression. There's a reason why military vehicles are all diesel powered. If your gas (benzene) powered MJ catches fire and you don't get it put out in the first few seconds, the fuel could explode. Best to get away (most likely you'll be forced to anyway by the heat and smoke) and then just let her go up in flames. Then call your insurance company, then call a cab to take you to the nearest establishment that serves alcoholic beverages.

Not since high school, but I've been dragging a couple of boxes full of them around with me for the last twenty years in the hopes I'd build em again when I had a kid. I think I've got some more in the attic, or they've disappeared over the time. Here's the contents of one box. They're all built, I just didn't open everything up. Lots of spares too.

Exactly what I did.

What Is The Best Steering System?
Comanche County replied to TGTgoHARD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Crossover steering. -
Good time to switch over to the HO style too. No more upside down filter and more filter options. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/Oil_Filter_Mount_O-Rings.htm http://www.yuccaman.com/jeep/filter.html

Mj To Wj Steering ?
Comanche County replied to 88elimnator's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have WJ steering and WJ brakes on my MJ. However, I have an export WJ knuckle on the driver's side using the two upper arms for high steer, it is reamed for 1-ton tie-rod ends set up with an inverted T steering. If you're dead set on an WJ brake and steering set up and if you're under 4" of lift I'd recommend retaining the stock UTK WJ steering and retain the crossover steering. If you're higher then I'd go OTK and retain the crossover system. After driving mine for the last couple of years with the inverted T, I think I'd rather have an OTK crossover set up. Yes, the WJ axles are a bit wider, you'd have to shorten your drag link and tie rod. The easy way is to get the knuckles and brakes mounted first then measure how much you have to shorten the tie rod and drag link. You can cut it yourself, then take it to a machine shop to get some DOM tubing welded over the WJ rods and get welded and reinforced. Otherwise, you're better off getting custom links made for your tie rod and drag link. This is a common swap. I recently had T&T customs out of Wyoming make new rods for me. It ran about $200 bucks. You might get off cheaper by having a local machine shop sleeving a stock set up from a WJ. Here's mine, not pretty but it works well, I surprisingly locked up the 35s on dry pavement the other day......: http://comancheclub.com/topic/22479-deep-in-the-heart-of-comanche-county/page__st__160 If you have and questions about the particulars, PM me... No water pump is a "performance part". I'd trust Hesco's measurements and tolerances on a crank or any of their stroker kits, blocks, rods, pistons, cranks etc because they build them in house. I don't know if they cast and build their own water pumps in house with home made bearings because they're so cheap when sourced from overseas. IDK? No clue where their WPs come from. But it doesn't matter. Even if they do build their own, a water pump is a throw away part. Just expect it to go bad anytime, regardless of where it comes from...its an easy job to replace one. A WP is a normal maintenance part, unless its made of unobtainium and gold plated there's no reason to cry over one, its just another normal maintenance item. High flow is one thing, but the cooling and volume capacity of the radiator is far more important.

Well if we don't meet in TX, I got you covered from Bama to GA anytime.

What time frame are you thinking the PCS will happen? I should be making few trips to TX in the summer, I could help on the TX-GA leg if the timing works out.

Sir Sam is slowly reeling us in if you couldn't tell. :)

Looks more like a rod end for a 3 point hitch on a tractor.

The same thing happens with Wranglers and CJs when you take the top off and leave the windshield up. Dust gets caught in a vortex behind the windshield. My fix for this back road vehicular dust bowl was to put the windshield down and let the wind pass through. No more vortex,,,older flat fender Jeeps solved this with vent doors in the windshield frame (CJ3A) or hinged glass (CJ2A). I imagine the same would work for your shop. Directly opposite of your roll up door, install a large window or another door. This would let the air go through the shop. Or, if that's not possible, the tree idea may work. If you want fast growing trees, just plant a line of cedars. Its a little dry out where you are but they should grow fast with a little water.

Haha, yeah a good thing, those guys own about 15 plus MJs back here in the states. You got a ways to go but if you can round up all the Swedish MJs you could catch em. The more MJs the better! -

'68 Plymouth Barracuda Notchback
Comanche County replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
There seems to be really stupid money in muscle cars nowadays. I'd polish or repaint it and put a new interior in it then take it to auction. Use the proceeds to buy another Jeep. -
19 - looks like a dried snake hide 23 - I think is a DNA sequence. 27 - some sort of contemporary/abstractish art with manequins 39 - possibly represents a burned or dishonored treaty between a Native nation and one of the states? Not sure which state flag that could be, Cali,WA maybe? 40 - no clue 41 - a 60s advertisement for ? 42 - air force recruiting poster implying you could become an astronaut, classic bait and switch? 43 - a PSA warning of the risks of using midget robot doctors?

I dreamed the other day that I died and went to heaven. I was met at the pearly gates by Steve McQueen. He was riding an Triumph TR6, he stopped and put the kickstand down as I stood there on the other side, then waved for me to follow him. He didn't say a word. I followed him through what seemed miles of fields of beautiful poppies and moning glories and wind blown trees and grass lined prairies, although it actually took only a second...then we stopped at a garage and he lifted up the sliding door. On the other side, as the door lifted, I first observed some boots, and as it rose, it exposed John Wayne, and a beautiful Willys MB behind him, and on his right was the Gipper in his CJ7. John casually remarked, "Hey Steve, you ready". Steve said, "Oh yeah". Then John hopped in the MB, and Steve jumped in a early CJ5 which was nestled in the back. They cranked the engines, and I said, "Hey, who do I ride with?", then John Wayne said, "Get your own damn Jeep you Sally!" Slightly perturbed at his insult, I looked in the back of the garage, and there was an MJ. As picture perfect as any Jeep Comanche could be, it sat in the corner of that dark garage as if it were waiting for me, put there by God himself. As I turned my eyes to the MJ, beams of light erupted from it and spread to the horizon in every direction and the engine turned on by itself and I could see the unibody softly rocking from side to side with every rev of the engine. I walked over and opened the door, it was an 4x4 Eliminator with all the options, I sat inside,,,,dropped the clutch and slid it into 1st gear and for a second gazed at Steve McQueen and John Wayne looking over their shoulders waiting for me to pull out of the garage to go wheeling with them in that great offroad park in the sky. I tried to follow the Gipper out. But, the engine died and wouldn't crank again,,,I thought it was the ballast resistor... Then my F*&^#*%^ alarm went off, and I flopped out of bed,,,swearing I will never drink Tequila again.
