flood fight is back on! tomorrow the mj will be front row
Comanche County replied to brdhntr's topic in The Pub
yeah big kudos,,,keep up the good fight! -
I agree with Pete, We've done Disney twice at the Wilderness Camp Grounds, much cheaper than the other Hotels in the area and the transit to the parks are free. There's a nightly outdoor movie with Chip and Dale that's free, the kids roast marshmellows, its all free. Turns it into an adventure for the kids.

Cool, post a pic,,,in fact we need to start a thread of MJs carrying or doing cool stuff,,,of course climbing over rocks is cool, but not really what I mean. -

Sir Sam,,, You probably beat me to it,,,,wanna sell me that 4.10 8.8? I'm picking up a TJ dana 30 with 4.10's later today and need a rear,,,,then if someone else wants my 3.73 LS with discs and welded tubes and MJ perches ready to bolt on it'll be available. I had NG drill :wall: or I would have been there all weekend... :fs1: -
I have it because its a Jeep and its a Truck,,,,,its cool to put chainsaws in the back, run over stuff, and spit Copenhagen out the window!

Lets see whos got the most miles on there mj
Comanche County replied to xflowdaboi352's topic in The Pub
I'm a few miles from 197K,,,,no rust anywhere,,,,except I haven't taken Pete's advice yet to check under the carpet,,,,I just put a stinking roll cage in and should have done it while I had the seats out..... No Rust - Like Sir Sam says: Colorado Baby!.......It's High and Dry, and why there were so many TB hospitals here back in the day. -
Well, I think the search function is great. It's largely the reason I didn't sign up right away. I got an MJ, found this site, started reading and researching problems I was facing and all the cool dudes here had already answered most of my questions. But about 6 months later or so, I signed up,,,,mostly after realizing that most of you were as obsessed and crazy as I am. Had I joined right away, I'd probably have over 1000 posts. I don't mind the repeated posts at all. This site is much more welcoming than other (XJ focused) sites out there. You know which one,,,its a pain in the @$$ to search, if you're not a member, then you have to do it through the google backdoor. This site is great, :smart: if we start treating people like their newbie questions are a PITA, then it will go downhill. The site is welcoming, basic and easy, and entertaining. I live in a Hi-Speed internet dead spot, but I can get everything on this site even with 44 mbs. I can't get streaming video to come through without waiting for hours so I come here for tech stuff and to get a fix on chuckles. Everyone started somewhere, sometime and didn't know jack, don't push them away! Think back when you first looked under the hood of your MJ and thought "man, that's a lot of crap". At least I did, now thanks to the tech articles and cool attitudes here, I look at the engine bay and know exactly what everything is.....almost. I Love you Man!

I want a CB! Now!
Comanche County replied to Comanche County's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Guys! Great info. Now I've got a direction to go,, but, this is new territory for me. I just might do something that will work the first time instead of spending tons of time and money "feeling" my way through a problem. Glad you'se guys is smart! yuck, yuck! -
:hijack: Did you run that to a relay to activate the fan? How does it recognize the right temp to turn the fan on? Just asking cause I think that's a good idea,,,I might do the same!

I bought a cb radio at a JY for $5....but I'm having second thoughts on putting it in. I don't have an antenna either. I heard these have to be tuned to work correctly and when I do it, I want it to work right. But I don't know crap about CBs, :dunno: so short of going to a truck stop and having them do it,,,,any advice on how to set it up. What brands would you recommend? Any power considerations, I do actually want to be able to talk further than down the street.

The third heater hose goes to the water pump, not the thermo housing. I replaced my housing when replacing the WP and Thermo, broke the housing by torquing it too hard,,,:wrench:,,,that metal is fragile.
-
Yep, replace the lock cylinder,,, I replaced mine and found at least an ounce or two of metal shavings inside it. I couldn't get the darn thing to even turn, so starting the truck was always a challenge. Got a new one from napa, for about $35. It works great. Use a steering wheel puller and be sure to check for the alignment marks on the column shaft and your steering wheel. I borrowed a puller from the store and did it in the parking lot. Mine were still visible so I didn't have to re-stab the wheel once I had it put back together,,,,if your marks aren't there, be sure to make some before you pull the wheel off. Be careful not to "tear" it apart, take your time so you don't lose any springs or break anything. There's lots of delicate pieces in the column. Bad thing is now my keys say "Government Motors" on them. I'm trying to find some NOS AMC/Jeep key blanks.

weird clicking while turning
Comanche County replied to comanche13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
x4 on the Track bar,,, Mine was doing the exact same thing. It took me several days to find it as nothing was visually loose and I couldn't move anything by hand. I torqued the frame mount end and that fixed it. It kept me guessing for several days. -
I won't sell to a CC member,,,,I give it away!!!! Anyone want a CJ Low pinion Dana 30 with 4.56 gears? Bought it just for the lockright locker,,,will soon have a complete 4.2 minus the crank and rods too for someone if they want it....

Sounds like an awesome set up... I have two 10" MTX subs I got for $50, a 600w Sony amp, and an Alpine head unit. All were purchased at a pawn shop for less than $175 together. It could be a lot clearer, but its super low and really freaking loud inside cab. The main issue was space. I'm 6'2" and have a roll cage in the truck also, so I barely fit. With the tens in seperate boxes behind each seat, I'm a little cramped. I don't understand any of the speaker tech stuff...but, no human being, unless they are completely deaf, can sit in the truck with it turned up for more than 10-15 minutes,,,,it just rattles your brain too much. I know guys have bigger systems in their vehicles and crank them all the time,,,maybe I'm just weak though. I'm at the quiting point for my stereo, I'm calling it good,,,except for some 4x6 Cerwin-Vegas (freebies) I pulled out of a Grand Cherokee that will go in the pillars.

I love it! This truck deserves a really good name, moniker, or cool catch phrase! How about "Hybrid Smasher", "The Great Cornfield Speed Racer", "Tractor Nuts", "Ma Belle", "Toyota Fertilizerer", "Part Truck, Part Tractor, ALL JEEP!" Oooh, the Beastie Boys just came on the radio ---- that's it! "SABOTAGE". Ok, I better stop....

Yeah, cool dude,,, I'll get those pics up later tonight.... Word of advice to anyone else that may see James750 on the road.....Don't try to catch him  ,,,his truck is super charged or something! Especially, don't try it with a complete 4.2 engine in the bed of your truck, especially if you went cheap when you replaced your clutch with a refurbished set, especially if you're lifted about 7 inches with a busted shock, especially if your truck has never seen 80 mph,,,my throw-out bearing is singing to me now, Just got the head put back on and now it looks like I'll be pulling the tranny out again,,,,but hey!!! Its worth it to catch up to another CC member on the road!
-
Yep, buy it, just offer 500 or 600 cash, then meet him in the middle at 750 or 800 after you make him feel like he's won the hagglin'.
