  1. Eagle, here are the specs for the Mopar Purple cam you helped me get years ago. I still haven't installed it as my old 2.5 keeps on going. Sorry I can't comment on how well it works yet.
  2. If your rear leaves are flat already, I would look into new ones, maybe some Metric tonne springs, especially considering youll be loaded with overlanding gear. At this point too you could go with rear lift springs and stay spring under, or go with some stock height springs and go spring over. I'm not sure one would be more beneficial than the other, but spring under does control spring wrap better, but that may not be an issue for you if sticking with a stockish drivetrain. I assume too by your signature, you probably still have a Dana 35 rear end. This would be a good time to upgrade to a better rear axle with disc brakes. With extra weight, better braking is always a good thing.
  3. It probably too new to consider at this point, but I really liked GM's new 3.0 inline 6 diesel Duramax. It appears to be similar in dimensions to the Jeep 4.0
  4. The attaching clips for these are available from teamcherokee as well, youll need a pkg of them too.
  5. One word for the Eighties Look! WAGONEER! !
  6. Or a drivetrain and wiring swap from a late model Euro spec XJ with the 2.5 diesel option.
  7. Being a European Jeep, I would search for a MB OM617 setup. Easier to get parts for.
  8. That does look like the power steering conector. My truck was the same way, no PS, no AC. I added PS and plugged that in and when the pressure gets high, it tells the computer to increase idle speed. I also added AC to mine, and the AC plug is different.
  9. Promasters are as wide as a full size truck. They probably wouldnt be appropriate for an MJ Bed trailer.
  10. Id really wonder how well those would actually build boost, as each cylinder has its own turbo, there is a period of time between each exhaust pulse, the turbine speed would be up and down and thus boost as well from each turbo. I just don't think one cylinder could spin it fast enough to build any usable boost. When you have them all into one big one, the timing between each exhaust pulse is very short, thus allowing for more turbine speed and thus pressure buildup. Even cumulatively I don't see all those building as much boost as a single could. I wonder too if boost could be lost due to the exhaust pulse timing at each turbo. When one is building pressure, it could be lost backwards at other turbos that are in between pulses. Yes it looks cool, but I don't see it being anything other than an excersize in engineering.
  11. Another NO for the 4.7. I was a dealer tech for several years, and these engines do not tolerate any kind of neglect, and if you overheat it one time, you might as well rebuild it because everything in it will warp, and the valve seats will fall out. Another thing is they are VERY wide, and it would be tight to the inner fenders on the MJ if not impossible to even fit in the engine compartment. As was said, there are lots of better options out there. If you really want to do that much work, Id do a 3.6 with either a NAG1, or an eight speed. Same or better power in a much more reliable and less finicky package.
  12. It's a good quality setup. But, be advised, it will not fit a 4 cyl, AX4-5 setup. The transfer case linkage is too close under shifter being it's farther forward than on 4.0 models.
  13. This is a modified Smittybuilt light bar, made for a Smittybuilt bumper, on a stock bumper. No winch. With a front hitch.
  14. Just as a clarification, my intention was to buy the tires and mount them and road force balance them myself as I have access to the equipment working at a dealership. The AT3 gets top ratings and reviews on tirerack.com and they're US made. Really good snow and rain ratings. With the walmart version being half the price I had to consider them, but I think I'm going to spend the extra and get the 3's. I've never been a fan of the Generals, but that's mostly because I think they are ugly, and not based on any real issues. And there's no way I'm putting Treadwights retreads on my 2015 WK2. I don't care how cheap they are or what ratings they have. If it was an old wheeling rig, it might be a different story.
  15. Mechanical aptitude, or natural talent can count as much as any kind of professional training. If you can show that you have a natural talent for it, some places will take a chance on you. Even places like the smaller dealerships will hire a trainable person with little to no experience for a lube tech. That can be a great foot in the door for experience and possible future manufacturer specific training. A friend of mine started out as a car washer, moved into the parts department, then out as a lube tech, then general tech. He now tunes and builds cars for Richard Petty's Garage.
  16. Yes, Discoverers. That's what I'm asking about.
  17. 1987 Sportruck 2wd 4speed 2.5. $250, running (poorly) no rust, paint dead and covered in sap. Asheboro, NC, 2007 1986 X long bed, 2.8 4x4, 5 speed, $125, blown engine- disassembled. Minor rust, paint dead, body damage in bed. Asheboro, NC, 2008
  18. I've been looking at the Cooper A/T3 tires for my WK2, but I've been a little hesitant on the price. I saw someone say that we should check Walmart for their prices and low and behold, they have the Cooper A/T for half the price as anyone else. I was thinking this has to be an accident, but then I figured it out. Walmart has the previous version Cooper A/T for that price, not Coppers current version A/T3. The A/T3 is $252, the A/T is $125. I looked up the reason for this and evidently walmart has an agreement with Cooper to build the previous model to sell at a lower price point. Cooper says they are made exactly the same they were before with same Warranty. Does anyone here have any experience with the previous Cooper Discoverer A/T as compared to the newer A/T3??? I'd love to only have to spend half the money for these tires. Thanks.
  19. I removed the mechanical fan for straight electric using a fan controller. I can't comment on putting one in front of the radiator, I know there isnt much room there, but if you can make one or two small ones fit, it would just be a matter of mounting them and wiring them up.
  20. Ive had a 2015 Grand Cherokee Limited for a year and a half now. Love it. Its the nicest vehicle ive ever owned. With the wife working from home, I'm trying to drive her car every once in a while to keep it from sitting too long, a 2014 Hyundai Elantra 6 speed manual we bought new.
  21. On late model Chrysler vehicles, it only got a sensor in the spare if it had a full size matching spare, which is fairly rare, but was an upscale option on some. This includes 07 up wranglers with TPMS.
  22. I was looking for a cheap truck (anything but a Chevy) when I found my MJ, specifically I was leaning towards older Ford pickups as I was always a Ford truck guy. I still love the older 96 and older Ford trucks. But my Comanche fell in my lap at just the right time, and Ill never get rid of it.
  23. Mine is used as a 3rd vehicle for me and my wife, as toy project.... the only one I have right now, and as a truck as needed. Being able to use it as a truck still is priority. And in cooler months Ill daily drive it.
  24. I'm sure as you know living in Michigan, driving ability matters more than having 4wd in the winter. I spent the first 28 years of my life there and never had a 4wd, and rarely got stuck..... I take that back, I did have a Grand Wagoneer for a little while toward the end. That thing was a tank through the snow!
