Flex in the fire wall do to rust
dasbulliwagen replied to Lorenz's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The clutch master is different between 84-86 and 87 and later. I had that issue when I swapped an 86 AX5 with external slave into my 87. The clutch master bolts are rotated 90 degrees between them. -
Haggerty classic car value guide shows $7200 in good condition, but doesnt ask your location. Hemmings shows them at around $17,000.00, but only compares ones theyve had listed before!!! NADA guides shows $3300-$10,300 depending on codition for a base model.

I used Noico, bought off of Amazon.

It's been a slow day at work. I got the sound deadening in. Did the floors and the back of the cab. I still have enough left of a 36 SQ ft box to do the roof if I ever feel like it, or the inside of the doors.

I got the floors wire wheeled, then coated with a rust converter. Then seam sealed a few pinholes, and put a topcoat of Rust-Oleum enamel to seal it up. Next will be sound deadening, before the carpet gets put in.

I'm not sure if this is in the realm of what youre looking for, but I modified a Smittybuilt light bar to mount on a stock bumper for mine. It follows the same curve as the stock bumper and lined up good with the factory over riders. Trimming was required though, and I added the two smaller down support bars to existing holes in the bottom of the bumper.

Tire sizes, lifts and pictures
dasbulliwagen replied to Dammerung's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Around 6 inches with stock JK size tires (around 32") on 17" aftermarket wheels. I used 5.5" RE springs, RRO drop brackets, Core4x4 control arms and track bar, and spring over in the rear on 2wd springs with longer shackles. -
The bench has been sent out to get done, and the old rubber floor has been pulled out. You guys are right about these rusting from the inside out. The only rust on the whole truck is on the interior floors! I bought stuff to get them cleaned up and coated, and then ready to lay down some sound deadening material. I'll have more pics as progress happens.

I saw one on Facebook this morning listed for $39,990. It is low miles and had a lift and some upgrades, but still had stock geared open axles that were trussed, Its getting ridiculous out there.

An awesome food channel is YOU SUCK AT COOKING. A great general arts and crafts channel is EVAN AND KATELYN. Anything from MARK ROBER is great. And SMARTER EVERY DAY, and STUFF MADE HERE, all great for science and engineering

Time for an update. I pulled the bench seat out of it to send it to get recovered. My friends dad is now working with an upholstery guy, so I'm going to get him to recover it. Ill be going with new black vinyl, with red stitching and maybe a diamond pattern stitched inset. While the carpet is out, Ill be laying down some generic dynomat, New carpeting to replace the torn up rubber floor, and installing the cable front axle disconnect. Ill load pics of the seat out later for some before pics, and more pics once I dig farther into it.

But that is a boon for potential truck shoppers. You can grab a pristine late-model Jeep Comanche 4×4 for $30,000. That’s 50% lower than the price of an equivalent Jeep J10, Hagerty says. And good-to-excellent models are even cheaper; you can pick one up for $10,000-$20,000. Ive always said that Id never sell my Comanche, but if someone wants to give me $20,000 for it, Id probably take it.

Don't be an idiot like me...

Those caps were used on other Jeeps as well if I remember correctly. I think they could be had on the YJ and TJ with the same steel wheels. -
It could be that your adjustable links arent long enough. I had a similar issue on mine. Longer links put the sway bar ends up higher to be out of the way of other stuff and the springs.

86 2.5L Cooling System
dasbulliwagen replied to eaglescout526's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a similar issue on mine. ended up the original radiator was clogged, even though it had been flushed and kept good coolant in it. I bought a cheap plastic tank model and it did fine for a few years, but it blew the lower tank off one night at a downtown cruise. I replaced it with a fully welded aluminum rad. I also went with a higher PSI rad cap from a TJ and some water wetter. Every little bit helps, but I havent had an issus since.
