Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. I ended up replacing just the thermal fuse itself instead of the entire unit. Picked one up at the electronics store, took about 5 minutes total.
  2. Thank you for the help, I'll keep you posted, this gives me a direction to start in.
  3. Thank you for the help! I do have AC. Will be ordering the right part # today!
  4. My parking brake pedal has started "springing" back after I push it down. It comes back up about half way. Is that an adjustment at the rear drums? As always, any help is appreciated.
  5. Picked up a new blower resistor this weekend. Replacement has 4 electrical terminals. The old one has 5 terminals so I have a wire with no place to go. Any ideas where to put this one? Any help is appreciated.
  6. Airborne Janitor- That sticker is never coming off! ghetdjc320- I'm already getting a groaning sound from the diff, so it's gotta go. Figured I'd regear from 4:10 to 4:54 at this time. Since I won't be doing any hardcore wheeling with this rig, not putting a locker in, and have always been easy on the skinny pedal, I'm hoping to be able to stay away from any more upgrades. But I appreciate the advice
  7. Next up is this "minor" issue! I guess I wasn't as lucky as I thought with the rear differential! Oh well, upgrade time! 4.54 gears for my future 33" tires and a limited slip in the rear are coming soon!
  8. I picked up some indoor/outdoor carpet and installed over the foam. I also found some thin plywood underlayment for the bed sides and front. I used spray adhesive on both the foam and plywood. I first used velcro to hold the carpet panels to the sides but ended up using a couple self tapping screws. Since I'm going into the plastic bedliner beneath, more holes didn't bother me. Last was a Bedrug universal truck mat. I've used the Bedrug on previous trucks and liked it alot. The cut-to-size mat went in very easily and attached with plastic "Christmas tree" fasteners to the bedliner ribs below. I also ran a power port to the back. it has an on/off switch with two usb and one cigarette lighter size port as well as a voltmeter. I ran straight to the battery with a fuse.
  9. Next I started in on the Shell and bed. I grabbed some 1" foam insulation and gorilla glue and went to work. I used a bit of expanding foam in the corners and bigger gaps
  10. Build Update: Someone prior to me installed the incorrect fuel sending unit. I ended up having to drop the tank but it wasn't that big of a deal to drop, install the new unit and reinstall the tank.
  11. Right on! Thanks for the info!
  12. Death Wish is a great name!
  13. Going to replace the old seat belts. Does anyone know if the 2 or 4 door Cherokee ones will fit?
  14. Axle moved like crazy when I removed the control arms and springs. Took a bit of coaxing to get everything lined up correctly
  15. That's it so far. Next is to get the bed set up for camping while still allowing for cargo. I'm considering a few different configurations for the back, will keep you updated as I decide. I'm also getting the drive shaft u-joints replaced and have adjustable rear shacked on order from Core 4x4. The rear of the truck sits down slightly so the shackles will take care of that. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how the build is going. Knowing exactly what I wanted to use the rig for makes it alot easier to build it right the first time.
