I beleive I lie somewhere in the middle of all this being that I'm 36 and just now have my first kid. I still remember those high school days, but Ive yet to deal with the kid and her grades. I myself just squeeked by in high school. Its not that I was stupid, its just that I wasnt motivated. My parents didnt care too much as long as I wasnt failing, and at that time, you got an update in the mail quarterly, unless you were really screwing up. I only really screwed up once failing spanish class. I asked my parents to let me out of it, but I don't think they understood at time. I failed the class and they asked me later if I could have gotten out of it and into something else, and I told them I tried that but they had nothing of it... oh well. The classes that interested me were the ones I did good in. Auto shop, and science, and art. Auto shop is obvious, but science, earth science, physical science (not physics), geology was always easy for me. I know its all different now with requirements and such, but if you are able you can try to tailor your class choices so that you have your basic requirements and also classes you know you will be able to do good in. I think my junior and senoir year was 3 hours of auto shop, 1 hour teacher/office assistant, 1 hour english, and 1 hour gym. I know too that if you don't like the teacher or their style it can be different too. I had an english teacher once that never set due dates... so I never did the work. I got an E in the class, a C+ on my final exam and passed the class with a D-. I needed boundaries then... goals to work toward to at least be some sort of motivation for me do the things I had no interest in. It really is good for you! After high school I went to Nashville Auto Diesel College and was on the honor roll the whole time graduated with a 3.6 GPA Associates Degree in Automobile Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology. I worked in body shops for 2 or 3 years before getting asthma bad enough to make me quit body work. And then five years ago I had a chance to go back to school again, this time for auto mechanics. I graduated top of my class with a 4.0 GPA Associates Degree in Automotive Systems Technology and am currently on the college advisory commitee for the automotive program. Youll understand all that we are telling better as you get older. It will make more sense when you are on the other side of the argument... until then just try your best!

A must have MJ...........somebody buy this please!
dasbulliwagen replied to WahooSteeler's topic in The Pub
I agree... especially for michigan. That truck just needs its stuff done properly, would be a good start for someone who wants to build a nice full width... just cut off all the poorly made crap..... I think this is a job for the all mighty Pete! Its even somewhat in his neighborhood. A quick jaunt up I96 and youd be good to go! -
The bleeder should point up, so that air can escape and not hold an air pocket in there.

Used the MJ this weekend to haul the "refreshments" for my buddies wedding. 120 bottles of miller lite, 40 bottles of bud light, 48 bottles of Yeungling, 24 bottles of corona, 48 8oz bottles of Coke, and 360lbs of ice!

Something like that happened to my cousin, his leg got crushed somehow in a golfcart accident screwing around, and by screwing around, I mean, Stealing golfcarts from a local course and vandalizing the property. He ended up geting a bone infection and lost his leg. You just can't screw around on them things!

Youre only 33??? I really imagined you to be much older, maybe 55. And theres no shame in living with your parents if thats what you have to do. I would do it again if I had to... I beleive my relationship with them is good enough to where it wouldnt be an issue. I'm only a few years older than you.

powersteering to manual please help
dasbulliwagen replied to wilderness_guide's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
WHY do you not like power steering? Is yours leaking, noisy??? I also converted from manual to power and I love it. Really helps in parking maneuvers. Let us know what your problem with the power is and maybe we can help! -
I'm soo glad to hear youre doing good. I applaud you for your service to us. Thank you! And about the MJ... just swap in an automatic and then custom mount a gas pedal to the left of the brake pedal and relearn to drive it. My dealership has a customer who had a stroke that took out most of his right side and his truck is set up like that. Its a real trip to drive if you arent used to it. Our area is fortunate too to have a big conversion company nearby that does nothing but fix and convert vehicles for handicapped individuals. I'm sure they could make you a hand throttle and brake too so you can keep your clutch! But anyways best of luck on your recovery.

89 mj 4x4 swap using an HO drivetrain
dasbulliwagen replied to biggwheels's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Everything front door forward will swap over with a few exceptions. The engine and trans will swap in, and the dash will too, front axle will but the rear axle and driveshaft won't. To use the rear axle, the spring perches will have to be made to work with the MJ, meaning cut off and rewelded on in the correct location, unless the rear axle in the MJ is the same gearing as the gearing in the XJ, then you would just keep your rear axle, but you will have to find a correct driveshaft or have your original MJ rear diveshaft cut to the right length, and the interior wiring will have to be adapted to the MJ rear harness in order to make the tailights work properly. And if your MJ is so mint why is it gutted?, What engine trans and wheelbase did it have originally and what is the gearing in the MJ and in the XJ axles? Just ask us whatever else you will need to know as you go along and your project will come out perfect. Let us know what you need and we are here to help. -
My D35 is Growling at me.
dasbulliwagen replied to JACKED88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In normal driving on a dry road, when your driveshaft turns it sends power to both sides equally, but if one tire hits say a patch of ice, that tire will then get all the power due to its lesser resistance. So normal driving in 4wd will have equal power to all 4 wheels, it just all other types of driving that gives us the need for an open diff for smooth comfortable driving especially around corners. -
I agree we need more details, and I have seen the XJ bumper done on the back of an MJ before and I am currently in the process of seeing what its going to take to mount one on my truck, but I'm not sure thats what the OP is talking about. Give us some more info on what youre talking about and we can better serve you!

Saw the title and thought "here we go again!" Then I saw what was up. Good Job!

The engine and trans/transfer case will not work with your truck... just the axles... if you have a 5 speed manual it will probably have 4:10 gearing in them which would work great in your truck, especially if you are going to go with taller tires. You could sell the AX5 trans and NP207 transfer case, and accesories off the engine, or find yourself a 3.4 engine to put in it and have yourself another good running truck. Or swap the axles from your truck to this one, drop in a 3.4 and re sell for a huge profit!

To do this swap sucessfully, you will need an ENTIRE CRD donor, not just the engine. Get a complete donor and swap EVERYTHING over from the Grand to the MJ. That is the easiest way to tell you how to do it. If you buy just an engine, I don't see you ever making it work properly. The CRD engines run fuel induction like a gasoline engine with electronic injectors at each cylinder, and the fuel pressure is MUCH MUCH higher than a normal diesel. You will need all the fuel lines, fuel tank, lift pump, injector pump....EVERYTHING form the grand. That includes the interior wiring too, and guage cluster. You won't be able to make any other guages work with the Grand wiring harness. You may be able to add on a boost pressure guage, but that would be outside of the original harness. This same engine is also used in 2007 and newer Dodoge Sprinter Vans, Freightliners and Mercedes Vans of the same style... so that may broaden your search for a donor vehicle. Ive driven the Sprinters and they pull like you wouldnt beleive, but now that I think of it, if you want to stay with a 4x4 driveline, the Grand is probably a better choice. Good luck and keep us updated.

Brake rotor fitment, 1990 MJ
dasbulliwagen replied to 135Boom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe you have some WJ spindles with the earlier hubs with the correct bolt pattern for our trucks. Just a guess! -
Getting back on subject... WHY can't you have a baby seat in your truck? I have one in mine! I have a bench seat, and the baby seat is strapped in all legal and such. My kid just turned 1 year old and she loves riding in it because she can see out of all the windows better than she can in our other cars. Shes had a seat mount in the truck almost since the begining. And the vibes coming from the 2.5 put her right to sleep too! Either that or the crankcase fumes coming out the valve cover getting sucked into the HVAC ducts! But seriously I fixed that. Theres no reason why you can make this work. If youre not married to the mom, and you are within the law on this, there should be no case for it in court. Let us know what you end up doing. And for gods sake... take down the craigslist ad! here's a pic of her in the MJ. Shes bigger now and has a forward facing seat now in black to match the interior.

Chrysler MOPAR is now selling a stroker longblock too. That would be the best way to for the power you want... stroker that is!
