  1. Why convert a 4wd Cherokee to 2wd when you can buy a 2wd Cherokee to begin with? I have had 2 or 3 of them. I have a nearly rust free 2wd at home now. It does have a 4wd transmission though. I couldn’t pass up a good running $50 transmission.
  2. What does the outside look like?
  3. What are the dimensions of it? Looks big. I was not surprised by the original price knowing what kind of work and patience goes into that sort of thing.
  4. Even if it needs a little work on the frame, you’re in LA the car hobby capital of the world. There has to be somebody there that can do it resonably.
  5. Less than $500 in parts. That included buying a complete parts Cherokee for $125 just to get the bumper. The insurance qoute to fix it was $4,200.
  6. I would take that truck in a second if I could get it across the country. I’m sure that it is more rust free than anything I could find here. Please take the time and effort to fix it.
  7. Like 75 said, go on car-part.com and find your pieces. There is a white fender in an LA yard and a white hood in Glendale. Even if there is some frame rail damage at the end you can have it pulled out. A 3 pound hammer and a dolly can fix a lot of bent structural sheet metal.
  8. I have fixed 3 Cherokees with similar damage. One of them was “totaled” and had to go through a state inspection to be registered. Don’t submit it to insurance as they may total it. Pull the fender, grill, bumper and hood off and inpect your unibody for damage. Hardest part will be sourcing the replacement parts for the earlier style fenders and grill. If it was a 92 or newer it would be easier to find the parts.
  9. In the comments the derfs are saying 5-6-7 grand max. They haven’t been on Bringatrailer. I don’t think it’ll bring $30k but I wouldn’t be surprised if it brought over $20k. Love the looks of it. It would be fun as a Sunday driver.
  10. I’m not that far from Eagle and I have a solid set of four rims with center caps. Caps can be black or chrome. I can help get Eagles rims ready. I also have trim rings.
  11. Can you get a closer look at the picture and see what the emblem under Jeep says?
  12. 1966-1971 CJ5 with a Dauntless(Buick)V6. It may not be a V6, hard to make out the emblem below Jeep.
  13. Really? Never had contact with pre 1990 2wds so I wouldn’t know for sure.
  14. Again it depends. 1/21/92 and later built 2wd and 4wd have the same slip on rotors. 1/20/92 and older 2wd’s have a spindle mounted rotor.
  15. When my 3 year old kenmore died 12 years ago money was tight and I found a much older kenmore on freecycle and that washer lasted 10 years. That washer died in 2019 and I bought a kenmore set from a guy that was remodeling a condo for $50. It’s been working good since I bought it. My gas dryer is a 1982 Whirlpool. I rebuilt it with new seals, belt and rollers last year. It’s as good as new. Gas heating unit on it is 10-12 years old. Go find a $100 dollar washer off Craigslist or marketplace. If it’s not still hooked up have them run a hose and extension cord outside so you can test it. May new 2006 kenmore lasted 3 years. My older than 2006 used ones have lasted longer. Disclaimer: Your mileage may vary.
  16. Check all the bolts on the track bar and track bar bracket to make sure they are tight and jack the tires off the ground to look for slop in the track bar and steering tie rod ends. Also check your tires for abnormal wear and see if your shocks are tired. All of this contributes to death wobble.

I see in the news that the driver of the Jeep, Bruce Springsteen, got arrested for DWI. Oops!
  18. 69 and later are rectangular on mopars.
  19. 95% 42 out of 44. I got the 66 and 67 chevelles wrong. Anything 67-68 is easy. 68’s have side markers, 67’s don’t.
  20. Got 84% on the Fin test. 47 out of 56.
  21. My score was 96%, 46 out of 48. I messed up on the 52 and 54 Mercury I think it was. Most of these cars were off the road by the time I started driving in 1980. I have always been interested in cars (and trucks and motorcycles) Especially before the safety bumper era. (1973 and newer)

I had an original 1980 CJ5 that had no tailgate. Not all CJ5’s came with a tailgate. Also I’m betting that one has been repainted.
  23. They’re getting harder to find in decent shape.
  24. Cut a section of roof out of a junk ZJ and seam seal and rivet or bolt it in place and call it good. Put a headliner in from a non sunroof ZJ. Toss all sun roof junk in trash.
