This is great too. :rotf: I disagree with $500 MJ. They would look awful if they were blue. They need to be RED. :clapping:

Not to hijack this thread but :hijack: Back in the day, I had a '75 chevy V8 that I gutted the cat on. I was really glad I did it. Fast forward, when I bought the comanche with a rotted muffler and cat, I considered a straight pipe to preserve the "performance gain" I remembered from the chevy. I decided to go with a stock muffler and cat instead. I was amazed at how much torque I lost by not having a working muffler and cat. Someone said in a post long ago the 4.0 needs back pressure. I thought they were full of it. But they were right in my situation.

That is GREAT! :clapping:

Jealously is a very ugly thing. You sicken me. (I have always wanted one of those things). And she is even in great shape too. Diesels rock. I had a VW Jetta that would get 47 - 52 mpg depending on driving habits. Congrats!

Sorry to start another "Best Oil" post. Dino verses synthetic has been beaten to death in other posts so I won't go there and regarding Wal mart, Don's is better than mine ;) . The general consensus from previous posts is that today's oils are not designed for our engines due to low zinc & phosphorus which is required for flat tappet engines. That being said, I was curious what everyone thought about running 50 weight oil in a 4.0 ? Mobil 1 15w-50 to be exact. The manual always said 30 or 40. I ran across the following chart and Mobil has an oil designed explicitly for flat tappet engines. I thought that was very interesting. Plus, this oil has very high zinc & phosphorus. I notice it is SM rated rather than SL: (It is about 3/4 down on the first page) http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Files/Mobil_1_Product_Guide.pdf Do you think I am hard on it if I run 15W-50?

I have always been a sucker for these old cherokees. It has had over 200 views on it. I think they are all from me. $20k. Wife won't let me get it though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUST-SELL-RARE-MINT-79-CHEROKEE-CHIEF-30K-ORIG_W0QQitemZ220587196644QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item335c0580e4 I realize it is very expensive but I am still suprised no one has bid on it.

2011 Grand Cherokee and it possible Alfa brother!
glundblad replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in The Pub
Maybe I am too old but 1" tall sidewall tires on a 4x4? Puke! -
The fog light relay for an '87 with factory fogs is located at the left front corner (drivers side) of the engine bay. Correct? And that is the factory fog wiring harness right beside it. The factory fog relay is not located on the right side under the relay cover, right?

And where do you think anyone is going to come up with another NEW 2001 Cherokee Classic? Seriously, guys, I know your intentions are good, but I was cheated out of a NEW vehicle, not a low-mileage used vehicle. There IS a difference. You were absolutely cheated. You will not find anything close to that. If you wanted a new xj, that was your only opportunity.

Contacting the BBB is a waste of time. They have no teeth. All you would be doing is formally stating you are "dissatisfied". They're a car dealership. They probably get a BBB complaint once a week. I have purchased most of my cars through the years from local small town dealerships where I knew people. This last time, I couldnt do that. Last summer, I bought a new JK but had to go to a Fort Wayne Jeep dealer. I knew what I wanted. A 2 door Rubicon, Orange, hard top. They would have needed to locate one which they couldnt do (even though I did). The "sales manager" who was probably 20 years old leaned on me pretty hard to get me to buy a lifted, a stupid looking modified, soft top, 4 door base model. It was a POS and all show (no dana 44 F&R). I was polite but the dumba$$ wouldnt shut up. He kept asking, "What's wrong with this?". Over and over and over. Then I went to a small town dealer and was treated the same way again. They all suck. Hard to believe their business model includes skrewing the customer. Hard to believe they went bankrupt. Even if it costs you, call a lawyer.

OME front coils $50!
glundblad replied to WahooSteeler's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
The 930's didnt lift mine anywhere near 3". But unfortunately, like an idiot, I forgot to measure my before & after heights. They were rated at 1.75" lift and I think I got that. It still has a nice rake but is more level than it was. About perfect now. The handling is instantly noticable even with my POS shocks. If you got the 930 coils for $50, you should be in prison because you stole them. :clapping: -
OME front coils $50!
glundblad replied to WahooSteeler's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Great find. I bought some OME 930 coils per Don's recomendation. I thought they were unbelievable. I noticed on our dirt road after driving 30 feet. -
ebrake replacement secrets?
glundblad replied to jpdriver1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It has been awhile but it seemed to me the easiest way to get to parking brake for me was to remove the lower panel of the dash. Then I vaguely recall something about a brace for the dask or steering wheel that I removed. Remove the kick panel of course. After that, you only needed to be small, nible and double jointed. -
That is me at the top of this post. They're right. They are expensive. I paid $50 - $60 if I recall. I wanted them pretty bad. Ebay was the only place I have seen them. I may be wrong but if I recall, I have seen them at $80. Oh, and please no comments about the driver side being crooked. I need to fix that. :shake:

Best method to clean upholstery.
glundblad replied to MCF90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yea, what he said. And don't use scented detergent. The smell never goes away. Also, don't use a front load washing machine. They will look new when you are finished. -
I have never seen a black/tan one before. It looks like your comanche was maroon? I always thought Jeep Colorado red with Tan interior would look very nice.
-
I noticed that too. I also love the rake but mine is has more than most. Dunno why. I noticed that when I bought it. It got a little worse when I replaced the rear springs. I added OME 930 coils for 1 1/2" lift but it still has a pretty good rake. About perfect now.

Haha. My girlfriends grandfather told me he once took his shiny new Grand Wagogneer over a pass around Leadville (the name has slipped my mind). His wife argued his new Jeep would get torn up, but they still went for it. Got to the top and saw a family of 4 in a convertible GTO. Guess with big motors and a limited slip rear end you can do anything. If your GF'S GD was driving a brown/tan Waggy over Mosquito Pass in July,1972 tell him you talked with the driver of the Blue '65 GTO convertable,389, 4spd,posi trac, who remebers him and the pleasant conversation we all had. Jim I would be curious to know how this part of the story ends. Talk about a small world. :dunno:

Very nice clean truck. Of course since I live in the cold state of Indiana and you live in Florida, I must say I hate YOU!! But welcome to the forum.

If I recall correctly, I have asked a similar question in the past on this forum. The general consensus was there was no carpet available that matched the quality of oem. So if you need new carpet, you would expect to sacrafice quality to some degree. Anyone chime in if I am wrong?

Backroads MJ 86 4x4 longbed 4 banger
glundblad replied to Backroads's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Dude, That is a nice looking truck. You said at first you didnt like the long bed. I am not sure what you are talking about. I think it looks very good. That 3" lift you have makes it look just about right. Oh and one word of advice. Be nice to that rear bumper. You may not be able to get another one.
