  1. I think your new seats look great. I followed Paul's cleanup advice and it works great. Just be sure to use a top load washing machine rather than a front load. Fronts are way too much spinning for the vinyl. Oh and don't use any detergent with a scent... It stays forever.
  2. I have been looking for a set for a long time until Paul found some for me. I was desparate but not that desparate. If they were black leather and in good shape, I would do it in a heartbeat but in this case, someone is dreaming.
  3. I remember feeling the same way a few years ago. I am almost 47 years old and I can remember thinking Jeep died when Chryser bought them. To this day it still bothers me to get MOPAR parts for a Jeep.
  4. Yea that is just what I was thinking. I bought an '09 Rubicon a few months ago. :(
  5. It would be a great truck for hauling a camper and traveling across the country. 80mph down the interstates with that bad boy would be a blast.
  6. Diesel Wrangler in 2010?
  7. Looks good. I see you put in new carpet. Where did you get it? I was curious what you thought of the build quality of it compared to the OEM carpets?
  8. Yes, I hate you too. Name your price on the black rear bumper. :ack:
  9. Those Hoosiers are all over the place. I could tell right away you were from Indiana because of your rust problem. Mine was in that bad of condition except my rockers were in slightly better shape and my cab corners were in much worse shape. Life in Indiana... But dang, that rear bumper is in fine shape. Were do you live? Do you stay out late at night? Do you have any shotguns or large dogs? Are you a fast runner?
  10. I couldnt disagree more. Chuck Norris is a puss AND he owes me money.
  11. These little drool marks are really tears of appreciation. :USAflag: If this would be your primary driver, I would consider an automatic if I were you. It keeps you from spilling your coffee on your lap.
  12. I don't mean to hijack this thread but Pete's comment above brought up a question I pondered awhile back. It contradicts my conclusion. Gearing doesnt increase power (unless you stay in first gear). Specifically, see Eagle's comments in my thread below. My conclusion was the drivetrain would generate the same torque if I wound the engine a little higher. I am running 3:07 and was considering switching to 3:73 but I concluded I would have the same result (or close depending on speed of course) if I kept it in 4th gear rather than 5th. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18501&hilit=gearing Anyone agree or disagree?
  13. Just in case you are not successful, I couldnt find one in good condition around here so I had to go with a Fey. It worked out ok. It is far more substantial than the factory one but I would have rather had a factory bumper. I was able to use the factory license plate lamps. That made it look better.
  14. TeamCherokee.com sells an oem alternative under their interior parts section. It is difficult to tell if they are more substantial, but I don't think that would take much. :brows:
  15. :hijack: What would be really cool is if CWLongshot could install new, more accurate oil/volt/temp gauges yet still allow the old ones to work so the truck was kept original. Then he posts the "how-to" on the forum. :brows:
  16. I needed to replace my parking brake as well. I was unable to find anywhere where you could tear that thing apart and fix it. It needed to be replaced. I think the teeth wear out. You will need to find a replacement at a JY. It is a fairly easy job as long as you are "plyable".
  17. I sold one once. It cost me a lot of money to get it back.
  18. I suggest you do not use a front load washing machine!! Also, spend some extra money for detergent that is completely oderless. The poor old comanche still smells like Tide.
  19. Sorry, I didnt see that this post surfaced again and I have been out of town. Colorado Red was the color. Chief wasnt really too special looking back. Keep in mind it was 1987 so you are REALLY testing my memory: It had the decals which was the real reason I bought it. It had more gauges than the other models. No tach though but oil pressure, temp and so on. The panels were trimed nicely (larger armrests or something). Plus the lower halfs were carpet. The dash bezel was chromed. It has a d44 axle but that was an option that had nothing to do with the chief package. The REAL cool chiefs were the cherokees of the '70's. They had indian blanket trimed seats and door panels. Paul just came through on a black center console for me. I won't put it in until winter. :clapping: JeepinSolder (Aka Alex) is sending me an old style tach so I can use my original gauge cluster. :clapping:
  20. Indiana had the coldest July on record this year. It has been 20 degrees below normal all of October. Today it was 42 degrees and last year on this date it was 77. I wish Algore was right. But since he is no longer coding tcpip protocols and setting up static IP routes, global warming is how he makes his living. We should have kept HIM in a lock box.

Oh yes, the 1976 Cordoba. What a legend. Rich corinthian leather. My mother inlaw had one of those. It would go 0-60 in whatever and get 11 mpg while doing it. It could barely pull itself out of its own tracks. WTF is that doing there :ack: They left out the lebaron?
  22. I did a direct swap with the newer gauges and it worked fine. Prior to the swap, I was getting too cold of a reading on my temp gauge. But after I performed the gauge swap and replaced the temp sensor it worked fine again. I still have the box from the sensor. It was called Duralast TU108 Temp Switch.
  23. Awhile back, I swapped out my gauge cluster for one that has a tach. My old gauges had the blue letters and the new has the red letters. It bothers me that my comanche now has 162k miles on it when it really has only 82k. I tried unsuccessfully to adjust the odometer and ruined one so I thought I should leave my second one alone. Today I found a gauge cluster at a junkyard with a tach and blue letters. I could put my original speedo into that cluster and the letters will match and my odometer will be back to normal again. BUT the new cluster was on an old 4 cyl engine and the tach was reading about 1200 rpms. It was at a junkyard so obviously the engine wasnt running. Does anyone know what it would take to get that 4 cyl tach to ready accurately for a 4.0 and should I be alarmed that the tach read 1200 rpms? Does anyone else's tach do that with the engine off? Thanks in advance.
  24. I don't know for sure but my thought is if you are careful, you should be fine. There are two sections, one for everyone (dirt bikes, quads and 4x4) and another only for the 4x4. I stayed on the dirt bike trails. There was a mud bogg area that was a little tricky at times and my stock comanche would have bottomed out and the springs would have fully compressed many times. But I would classify most of the dirt bike trails as pretty mild. The only thing I would hesitate on is the gravel pit areas. You may have to work at climbing some of the steep hills. I have F&R lockers which helps in the gravel and I was the only 4x4 (don't know if that means anything or not) in that area but it is so big there, I am sure you can find plenty to do without testing your truck and possibly busting something. Also, I would never go there alone. If you go with someone, they can pull you out if you run into trouble. If the comanche doesnt do as well as the wrangler, it would be only because it is a little longer and the tail behind the rear axle would be a little longer. So, don't test it and you would be fine. Also, don't forget that there are enough idiots there that there is plenty of "entertainment" too. Oh and don't take your wife... :rotf:
  25. Yea, hooks on the front and back. I didnt really test it too much. With front and rear lockers, it still struggled climbing those big sand/gravel hills. There was a section in a woods that had holes everywhere. That was a little challenging but I was following a quad, a mule and a raptor so I stayed in that section. It was a new rubicon so I was a little nervious about the paint but I escapted unscathed.
