  1. :hijack: I am curious about that too. My steering wheel turns right. It did that since new. Sloppy manufacturing?
  2. This is unreal. Tail lights are on ebay all of the time. What gives?
  3. Mine experienced a similar problem. I replaced all the obvious "easy" things such as plugs wires, coil, tps, etc. but nothing worked. I took it to a mechanic. He replaced the solenoid and EGR. Ran like new after that.
  4. Very nice truck and I personally owe Paul a lot. He was able to find rare black bucket seats for me and later, a black console. Both were in great shape. I am convinced I would not have found any in any condition. Good or bad. Paul rocks. Too bad he doesnt live closer to me in Indiana. Plus, I recently found out he is going to get a different engine and give me his existing one. What a guy.
  5. I thought I remember the body mechanic telling me he couldnt get the truck started after he removed the bed. Then he figured out it needed grounded? I never found out specifically what he was talking about.
  6. I also looked everywhere for decals but was unsucessful. The only decals I found in my search was the "Jeep" on the tailgate and I found one vendor that had the old "SporTruck" but nothing else. The body shop ended up finding a sign guy that made stickers for it. They looked exactly like the originals. I was very pleased. Not to discourage you and keep in mind i have limited knowlege on the subject. But if you look at my truck on the signature, you will notice the stock on my decals were a solid color (all black). I am guessing yours are not. That would make it a completely different challenge in my opinion. You may need to take it to a custom painter but I would certainly talk to a sign guy too. Take pleanty of photos. Regarding the roll bar, you just have to keep your eye open for a used one. They show up here once in awhile.
  7. I need to purchase new shocks for 3 vehicles and am in need of advice. I have 2 Z71 tahoes and a 2003 Grand Cherokee. I pull 5k - 6k lbs boat with the Tahoes and I live on a rough dirt road (not gravel but dirt). The Grand Cherokee will be lifted a couple of inches. The washboard and potholes are very common on our road. I was told by our mailman that I live on the worst road in the county so I do a lot of back country road driving. BTW, the poor comanche rides like a log wagon on our road. :( I have considered Bilstein 5100's or Pro Comp MX6. I have heard numerous times that Bilstein is the best but the ride can be a little harsh and the Pro Comp is adjustable which can be a bennefit. Shocks are one of those things I don't like to skimp on. I am curious if anyone has had any luck good or bad with either of these shocks or if they know what I would expect?
  8. Yes I agree. I live in the country where everyone knows everyone's name. I feel very safe. The only time I don't is when the folks from outside our area come in and rob us. It only happened to me twice. Changing locks won't help. Have you kicked in a door before? It doenst take much and if they made the decision to break in, I doubt a locked door will keep them out. An alarm system would help in that situation because if they did break the door in, they need to deal with the noise. There is more you should be aware of on that too. I wouldnt go heavily armed either. Pistols are a waste, especially with the gun laws. If you really needed to use it, you (or her) probably couldnt shoot straight anyway. A 12 gauge pump with double ought or better yet tripple ought shot will slow them down better than any pistol. It wouldnt even need to be loaded. Anyone can load them fast. The sound alone of bringing one of those babies into the chamber will make anyone decide it is best to leave.
  9. I think I got all of you guys beat. My wife is fairly well preserved. She is getting me something so good I can't even tell you what it is. :brows:
  10. Nice truck. Is that your girlfriend looking out the window? She is a hottie!
  11. Does anyone know what he has in that thing? I'll bet it is the GM 2.8?
  12. That is a nice looking engine. I know of a truck it would look really nice in.
  13. I know of a couple of them in existence in my area. Other than that, it may be several months before I see one on the road. Indiana winters are pretty tough on comanches.
  14. I am not sure. Anything that says FORD may negatively impact the performance. :smart:

    SCAM WARNING!

Just be careful. If it happens in Ohio during December, you could loose an eye. :rotf:
  16. Just to make sure I got it right: This thing is only worth $6470. Other dealers would screw you by selling it at $6995. We're going to screw you for $7795. And if you want to be sure the engine will run for 3 months, that will be $7995? Yea, makes sense to me. :???:
  17. There is no chatter or slipping of any kind. It shifts great too. I just don't remember needing to ride the clutch as much in order to get it moving from a dead stop. The truck came with P225/75/15 tires. I replaced them with P235/75/15's. If my calculations are correct, it comes out to 28.3" verses 28.9". Not much of a size increase.
  18. When I take off from first gear, I feel as if I need to ride the clutch (and the gas pedal) a little more than what I remember from when the truck was new. It never slips when you drive down the road and it shifts flawlessly. Is there an adjustment I can make or is it the early signs that I need a new clutch? She has about 85k miles on her and we always took our foot off the clutch after we shifted.
  19. Don, This is the first time I have seen your truck other than the front. That truck is gorgious. Does the previous owner know what you did to it? And I am not kidding when I ask this question but how do you keep that engine bay so nice? I have tried to clean mine but when I am finished, it still looks like it belongs to a 23 year old truck. BTW, you wouldnt want to sell your old black bumper would you? :???: Gary
  20. Yes, believe it or not, the condition of the truck shouldnt be measured by the condition of the floorboards. They all seem to have that same problem. It is still as much of a steal as you thought it was a few days ago. Congrats.
  21. I hate to disagree with Eagle for fear that he will come to my house at night and kick my butt or publicly humiliate me. Regardless I had an OEM bumper and now I have a fey. To me, there is no comparison. The OEM will fold if you look at it wrong and the Fey will last forever. I should qualify that by stating I use the OEM bumper brackets. Perhaps that has something to do with it. I have been looking for an OEM bumper for a long time but the Indiana salt is hard on them. My fey may be visible on my link below. They don't look bad IMO, but OEM looks much better (but I am a little picky) Your bumper looks to be in too good of shape to hitch anything to it. Keep in mind, if you damage it, you may not be able to find another one. I ran into trouble on my OEM because the tongue of the trailer didnt clear the bumper during sharp turns either. So each side of the ball had dents in it from turns. I believe that was a common problem since I see that on many old OEM bumpers at JY too. I imagine the same would happen to the Fey so I bought a hitch. I would get a hitch.
  22. Nice truck with a lot of potential. I never realized how nice white comanches are. Are you planning to keep it white? Yea, those tires look a little small. They look like the original 225 wrangler radials. I cannot offer any advice about replacing them. I went with 235 "silent armor" wranglers. While I like them a lot, they are not big enough for anyone on this site. Are those seats cherokee leather seats? They look great.
  23. And I assume he would still be able to use his existing gauges? Wouldnt his tach be inaccurate if he had one?
  24. No but I always secretly thought it would be cool. What does it take to get a license and how much does a typical receiver cost?
  25. I live out that way and have seen that truck in person. You can find a lot better truck than that for $600. There is not much there. Also, I should warn you that if you buy an MJ around the Ft Wayne/South Bend area, it won't last long if you drive it in the winter. The salt will eat it up.
