  1. I'm sure that paint job will be fine as long as he doesnt take it out in the rain.
  2. Very Nice. :clapping:
  3. I was always too lazy to put the jack away correctly when I could get behind the seat. It makes me no difference if the seat tilts forward. If I need to put something behind the seat, I put it behind the passenger seat. No problem.
  4. Dakota seats?
  5. That white thing with the factory roll bar? I think I'm in love. Is she still on the road?
  6. If you are still taking a poll on those wheels, I am sort of a purist. I always liked comanches with BFG's and those factory white rims.
  7. I would be honest with her and tell her that her back side looks much nicer than that old MJ's does. Of course, this assumes you have an after market bumper and not a factory one in pristine condition. If you have a pristine factory rear bumper, that changes everything.
  8. I think I would have rather had the MJ before he did anything to it.
  9. There is no way I would cut the roof off that poor truck. If it is fixable, I would fix it. How common are cab fires in MJ's? I was able to get a bed in nice shape due to a cab fire.
  10. don't get me wrong, they look good. You might have a little trouble getting $2,000 out of them. Although you said they do tilt forward so who knows. :brows:
  11. Has anyone gone to Moab lately? I am curious what it is like. I am going there tomorrow and staying for the week.
  12. I have gone there once and really enjoyed it. Leaving for Moab this week and pretty excited. My schedule changes fairly rapidly but I'd consider going if you wouldnt mind me bringing a JK rather than an MJ. It is a Rubi so it goes pretty well. There is no way I could wheel in my MJ. Would I scratch up my JK?
  13. Ouch. They sold for $150?
  14. And Don, you are a bit of a pessimist. If you took the time to look more closely, you would see that seat belt buckle is in good shape too. :brows:
  15. What a pitty. Back in it's day, that was quite a truck. I would hate to guess how much it would cost to bring that old girl back to life.
  16. My '87 4x4 has a very annoying squeal from my front disc brakes that I cannot seem to get solved. The pads are fairly new (less than 5k miles). The brake booster went out and it was replaced. The calipers had developed some rust in them which according the shop, had prevented them from opening completely. So I had them replaced as well. The truck stops on a dime and it doesnt pull. But after I drive for about 4 minutes, the left front develops a squeak as I drive down the road. If I press lightly on the brake peddle, the squeak stops. I can't tell if the right does it. I have taken it back to the shop twice since the calipers were replaced but they can't seem to fix it. Any thoughts on what may be causing it?
  17. I feel I need to answer this. I own the dvd's Gone in 60 Seconds, Bullit, and if I recall, I have the original Gone in 60. They are all very good. My personal favorite is any episode of an old TV show from the '70s called "The Rockford Files". The chase scenes were not long or dramtic. He never drove up an auto carrier and jumped 5 cars or anything like that. It was nothing flamboyant but it was authentic. Jim Garner drove most of his own stunts. I saw on a news show how easy it was for him to do a reverse 180. He could really drive. He gave the credit to the car in most cases. Yep James Garner, The Rockford Files. I'll bet Eagle sits around in his shorts watching it on dvd all the time.
  18. I have a set of Goodyear Silent Armor on my MJ. They run very quiet. According to GY website, they rated them very high in all season traction and stopping. I went with those and was pleased until recently. Regarding the dura trac, my son wanted something more aggressive than the silent armor for his grand cherokee so we went with the dura trac. They seem to wear very well and traction is exceptional. He tested them out many times in deep snow in our back field. He has no LSD or locks. If I recall, according to the GY site, they were rated very well in most road circumstances but they performed equally well off road. The dura tracs would look much better on my MJ than the silent armor. I know nothing about BFG but I would consider the road noise as a factor due to my driving style. I assume the BFG would be quieter than dura trac but that is only an assumption. I would absolutely get dura trac for the JK and if I off road the MJ, I would get them for it too. But make no mistake, there is road noise in the grand cherokee with these tires. I would imagine the MJ would be worse. But they look so cool...
  19. I must confess I am a little sensative about the subject myself. I think it is the most misunderstood holiday we have (excluding Christmas of course where Jesus shouldnt be mentioned :dunce: ). Went to church on Sunday. The pastor asked the vets to stand up. don't get me wrong, we owe them alot. But it is about those empty pews, those guys that never made it back and because of them, we are not speaking German or Japaneese, Confederate States of America no longer exists, the ones that stormed Normandy and saved all of Europe, tossed Sadam and threw the Tallaban out of Afganastan and so on...
  20. Were is PETA when you need them?

    WTF

Someone had a really bad idea...
  22. Sorry, didnt see your question. Part numbers are on another post: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23743
  23. I didnt sleep well last night so I'm a little tired. May as well say something controversial. Around our town, (don't know about everywhere else) it seems Memorial day is starting to turn into a holiday to remember lost loved ones. While remembering those folks is a good thing, that is not what it is about. It is about the vets that gave it all for us.
  24. I think my butt drags more than Don's. :clapping: Front N35/Rear N36L
  25. There has been ongoing questions about shocks and which are good or bad. I feel I would be doing everyone a disservice if I didnt mention this so here goes: My '87 with 83,000 +/- miles had the factory original front coils on it along with OEM shocks and Steering Stabilizer. The shocks and stabilizer probably had less than 3000 miles on them. But I felt they sucked and I am anal. :shake: A guilty party on this forum (who shall remain nameless) convinced me to go with OME shocks and coils. I can't begin to tell you how surprised I was with the result. I replaced the coils first and could tell a difference before I left my driveway. I got about 1.75" lift in the front on OME coils. The OME shocks were almost as good. I need to confess that my rear leafs are new but I don't know what is back there. I had them replaced in a pinch and I think they are the stiffest leafs known to man. So the back of my 87 is very stiff (unless they are all like that). The bottom line is I sense a better improvement on the front than I do the back. I highly recommend the OME coils and shocks. I live on a rough, washboard dirt road and I compare it against our Z71 Tahoes and the Tahoes are still much smoother (they are not unibody trucks). The steering damping is better than the Tahoes. I should point out the tahoes still have their factory original shocks and ss. On paved hilly back country roads, I would say the MJ is just as good as the Tahoes although the interior is a little louder. I have a JK rubicon that really likes the bumpy roads but in the MJ's defense, it's body is not welded to the frame either. But going down the highway, I have more wind noise on the MJ. The rubicon MIGHT edge out the MJ on the highway but not by much but the MJ wins with the coolness factor. It is a truck and those rear leafs have something to do with it. Recently I replaced the OEM Sterring Stabilizer with an OME one. I think the OME ss is as big around as their shocks. That change was more dramatic than the shocks or coils. On our dirt road, I get road feel but absolutely no vibration. The steering is slightly more stiff than what it was. I am absolutely convinced this is much better than when it was new from the factory. My two cents.
