  1. note the direction of the shock eye orientation. they are different than XJs and other rigs.
  2. forgot all about the rear shocks, or more precisely the lower shock mounts.
  3. you should be good to go now.
  4. make sure you use an AX-15 crossmember.
  5. what's your IP address?
  6. :dunno: Haven't a clue. I'll pass it on to our hosts and see if they have any ideas.
  7. any 23 spline 231 will work. you'll find them behind 90+ 4.0s (2.5s are all 21 spline) in pretty much any small Jeep (XJ/MJ/TJ/YJ/etc) that had command trac. you'll want the XJ/MJ linkages though (including the little arm on the t-case and the bracket on the body). try car-part.com if you haven't yet.
  8. I love easy fixes :D can you copy/paste this into the "most important tip" thread?

neat! where'd ya find those gems?
  11. congrats!
  12. I borrow a decent gas powered power washer. :D works fantastic!
  13. have you tried spinning the tires by hand? this technique works pretty good for removal. put a bolt of other steel item in there and turn the steering wheel.
  14. since the leaf springs are located by a bolt head in a hole in the middle of the perches, trying to redo the ubolts won't move anything. 3/8" isn't enough to worry about. that's only 3/16" off and that could easily be caused by bushings or spring differences. 2" seems to be the most common spacer size, probably because it allows for plenty of lug and nut space inside that dimension. I doubt you'd notice that half inch. just make sure you get good quality ones like spidertrax.
  15. have yet to be in a situation where 35s would have saved me. :dunno:
  16. my 88 came to me sans handle, and for years I just fished out the connecting rods with my fingers and yanked.
  17. when we finally get a comanche museum together, we'll need a tv showing the old commercials non-stop. :D
  18. try jacking up the front end and turning the tire by hand. then turn the steering wheel all the way to one side and rotate the tire again.
  19. the metal clips I had eventually rusted and gave up. thankfully I was able to find the guard that fell off. eventually glued them both on with silicone. my truck doesn't see street duty so that's the only reason they are still there. otherwise, they are kinda annoying since they dim my already dim headlights (which makes them illegal on the street). I would not do it again. :(
  20. not sure what you're talking about. got a link?
  21. are you talking about the XJ prop valve? MJs don't have that. we have a plain old splitter valve up front (looks like a prop valve). we have a rear height-sensing prop valve.
  22. how's the turning? and flexing?
