  1. shipping a truck really isn't that much money. should be under a grand. that's a rust free truck for under 1300.
  2. neat! found my new daily driver :D
  3. yeah, 4wd is waaaay overrated since you can swap in BETTER than factory MJ parts in a weekend and noone but us Jeep fanatics would be able to tell the difference. late model XJ parts are sweet upgrades. :D
  4. being an 86, there's simply no way to know for sure. the ratios weren't really standardized until 87. plus all sorts of craziness can be swapped in over 30 years time. easiest way is to check is to jack up one tire, put the trans in neutral, and rotate the tire around twice while counting the number of times the driveshaft rotates. for example, if the driveshaft rotates around about 3 and a half times then the ratio is 3.55. If for some reason the rear diff has a posi in it, then you'd have to jack up both rear tires and rotate them around just once.
  5. someday I WILL make that show!
  6. neat! EGRs are overrated anyway. :D
  7. there is a connector in the harness right behind the drivers side rear tire. corrosion inside that one can cause all sorts of rear light issues. :(
  8. nah, that's a common addition to the older trucks. mostly it helps filling the radiator. fwiw, the little hose should be fed to a catch tank. try the bleeding technique that uses the coolant sensor at the back of the head.
  9. do you want something that simply looks cool? or something that will deflect a buffalo?
  10. hooray for wheeling! . :MJ 1: . all in all I'd say it went pretty good for a shake-down run :D
  11. my guess is that it's usually done for packaging reasons. consider that the MJ is SUA and the XJ is SOA, but the Ranger is SOA and the Explorer is SUA. Either design works just fine for a factory suspension.
  12. or you might be able to use chevy parts. don't know the measurements on them though.
  13. and another apparently made by dynatrac a decade ago
  14. don't know what the kit is, but I found this in my internet searches.
  15. fwiw here's a pic showing the SOA measurements: or if it's easier to visualize it this way:
  16. HellCreek also makes leafpacks for MJs. regular, lift, and metric ton. should be a link in the vendors forum in the classifieds.
  17. pull back the carpet in front of the driver's and passenger's feet and check for dampness in the padding. all MJs are prone to rain leakage into the cab and then rotting of the floorboards under the carpets. next poke your head up in front or behind the rear tire and check out the condition of the steel between the inner and outer panels. our trucks like to rust from the inside-out and right behind the rear fenders is a prime location for rot.
  18. I love that game! :D and I love the door mounts.
  19. 2 things to keep in mind: -the packs have to be stiff enough to resist spring-wrap -the shackle needs to be long enough or the leafs will bind upon full stuff. why are you wanting to go SOA and not stick with new metric ton leafs and SUA?
  20. 150% is a real thing (depending on the situation of course). as in: a 150% improvement over last time. according to my father I need to find an alternative to "not my first rodeo".
  21. seriously. something in the 7s range at least.
  22. I guess the good news is that I've got no memory of anyone having more then the initial hairline cracks, meaning it doesn't seem to propagate into serious structural damage. but rain leakage is an issue.
