I'm guessing it's the vent. either way I'm ignoring it for now. just got back from the store and I think I now have everything to do this. we shall see... oh shoot. forgot the gear oil. whatever. I'll top that off later.

so which line does what as I'm looking at the frame below the rear seats? I ask because the second one from the top has a large rust flaw in it. Is that the fuel feed? fuel return?

dodge, chevy, and ford trucks probably all have longer rear lines with the same fittings.

years ago I ran full syn until it became obvious I needed to change the oil every 2k and then it got cheap-as-it-gets oil. and I can feel the difference when the new oil goes in, even after just 2k . every other ride in my family gets full syn.

the pullaparts are full of libertys just waiting to give you their 8.25. even car-part.com should be able to find you one for a lot less than 400. don't shy away from deeper gearing just for the sake of the freeway. my Dakota came from the factory with 3.92s and 27 or 28" tires and a big honkin' thirsty v8. wouldn't trade that ratio for anything.

I prepared to the nth degree when I drove out to Moab and back and the only real trouble I had was the dang water pump that wasn't even that old. bearings ate themselves. Prep the truck, but also prepare as if you were expecting to camp inside the truck for a couple days in the cold. and have those items in the cab next to you.

I have a single NOS housing. it is the most gorgeous red hue I've ever seen. had to buy a pass side and then trade a member to get a black trimmed drivers. but it's mine now and will forever hang on the wall. (on my NOS bedside with the NOS gas door and NOS flare and NOS mudflap and NOS bumper endcap) art is art and my art is beeeeeautiful

ahhh, the ol' yahoo group. waaaaay back in the day. sending emails back and forth like cavemen. back when I had to actually buy shop manuals and leaf through them to answer questions instead of just googling. and I still remember when Tom (Aslith) asked if I wanted to take over the reigns of the Yahoo group. what an honor it was! (and still is!) but it's you guys that make the club into what it is.

I guess I'm not certain what you mean for the little ones. are you routing the soft lines past the leaf springs? or the hard lines past the leafs?

your dingy old taillights can look shiny and new if you simply hit them with some gloss clear. worked wonders on the lights I put on my trailer.

I prefer my truck to look "stockish" with flares and a bed. now, I'll trim or move or maybe even go with aftermarket flares to fit bigger tires, but I like to stay as close to the factory proportions as I can. but it's all just personal opinion. your truck should look the way you want it.

new alternator is in and we're back to where we were a week ago.

that sounds like an excellent time for a vacation.
