permanently fixing the CAD can be a 10 minute job. but the late model shafts will give you the bigger ujoints, so they are a good choice for later.

I've used car-part.com to hunt down junkyard 4.10 axles. my go-to for up to 33s is the late model XJ 30 paired with a liberty 8.25. but the liberty 3.73 geared axles are like 95% of them out there, so if you go that way, any yard will have one (so be picky and get a good one). 3.73 is common in ZJs and TJs front axles (though they will be low pinion). ZJs and TJs usually have a 35 rear, which I would skip. or the silly aluminum 44 in the ZJs which is arguably not any better than the 35.

I spy an extra bracket at the axle side of the track bar. it's designed to accommodate a lift and so needs to be removed now that the lift is gone.

why does your coil spring look non-straight? is the tire coverage the same up front side to side? (meaning is the axle centered?) can you snap a photo of where the track bar mounts to the axle?

the steering stops are adjustable by unscrewing them and adding a washer under them. but something is amiss. 235s should fit

I've done that drive, though it was near 20 years ago. it takes a certain amount of guts, craziness, and a fair bit of stupid to jump in a heavily modified cheap Jeep and expect it to drive 3 weeks straight. I did have my trusty copilot though to help supervise repairs. always seemed to be my turn to drive though...

pretty sure I'd need like 3 separate miracles to make that trip.

welp, the vibration turned out to be 2 bad tires with popped cords. this lets me keep my sanity intact after I rotated them front to back and the vibration got even worse. lol. 2 new tires and the car is back to normal. filter is changed and I got the front pads replaced, but the rear needs a special tool to retract the piston so that got put off til later. headlights should be in tomorrow. oh, and I gotta attend to a bad taillight bulb.

so my godson's grandma drove up from the coast for the holiday and apparently the mild vibration in the steering wheel became a crazy vibration so now I'm fixing yet another vehicle. lol. besides the obvious vibration, I'm also installing new front pads, new headlights and giving the car a good once-over while I've got the opportunity. had to drive an hour and rent a dolly to fetch it first.

if the frame is ok, don't let them total it. it's your truck and you can negotiate to keep it out of the scrap pile.

the rubber trim piece? that's an awfully complicated piece. are they making it as one long strip that needs to be cut for the top, bottom and sides?

although... there are a couple aftermarket things on the wall, but they are 1990 era things. is that nos stick for sale somewhere?

nah, the nos wall needs oem whenever possible. thanks though.
