  1. more power = better
  2. so this is the ad I found a while back, and these are all the trucks in the CC registry that share the code "AJS: SUN/SOUND/SHADE PACKAGE" in their printout. I'm thinking there's a connection? (with the code being a reused code) The one truck even has the Fourwheeler sticker in the window.
  3. get a code reader that's bluetooth so you can use an app on your phone
  4. see, that's exactly why I carry a hydraulic floor jack. jacking up the axle seems way safer than jacking up the body and drooping out the suspension just to get the tire off. but a farm jack does have it's uses and so it was still in the truck.
  5. overly complicated death traps...
  6. pretty sure it's in the same location as the 4.0: back of the engine, on the bellhousing, top and to the drivers side
  7. wait, this isn't one of those times where you need to stomp hard on the pedal to reset a switch, is it?
  8. that is bizarre. double check the vin. a single number off would give a different truck.
  9. make sure to get a fire going so the fat man can't pop in and steal your cookies!!
  10. yeah, I've tried to sit down and organize stuff to figure it out, but it's such a daunting task I quickly shelve it for another day. not only are a lot of the codes reused, but your truck is also missing a ton of codes because the chrysler computers literally don't have some of the the 86-90 info. your build sheet should be much longer. if you look at a 91 or 92's build sheet, it'll show you what I mean.
  11. BigD Don passed back in I think 2015. we didn't find out for a while after that though.
  12. sent the first batch to Don's daughter Kate to hand out to the family. I think it turned out pretty good. a huge thanks to the guys that helped make this possible. Kate sends her deepest appreciation.
  13. we're talking about a whole inch and change difference per side. taken to extremes (both in large track differences as well as in high speed maneuvering) I'm sure there are things to consider, but I'd wager a large sum that none of us are going to see or feel a change with an inch and a half offset. I wish Don was around to chip in. he was one of the first to add spacers to the rear only.
  14. do dually trucks have an issue with front tire scuffing vs single rear wheel trucks?
  15. being a slightly different track than the front is not the issue here with either axle. the 8.8 is theoretically wrong because it pulls the tires in towards the bed and can cause rubbing. plus the bed is already wider than it should be relative to the front and this exacerbates the visual issue. the "same width" is more myth than rule of thumb. plenty of regular cars/trucks have done it over the years. like, every dually for example.
  16. a wider rear axe will not cause handling issues. guys have been adding spacers to the rear axle (without adding them to the front) for years now with no ill effects.
  17. brilliant! I'd say this is a much better idea than slowly poisoning yourself.
  18. it did not go as well as expected. he repaired a bunch, but only a couple were fully functional afterward. and there's no way to know if an ebay unit will work or not. I wouldn't buy unless they have a rock-solid return policy.

I've edited out the "reused" codes that say the wrong thing.
  22. technically no, but I swapped the old box back in earlier this week (power steering works again!) and in the near future I'll be able to measure this different box's swing.
