1st gear was the best gear with my particular truck! I never got good mpgs when 0-30 was such fun. tire quality starts to really matter though. for a while I had some cheap tires and they were a deathtrap in the rain. for comparison, the tire size was 255/55/r17 and the torque was rated at like 350ftlbs and the ratio was the aforementioned 3.92.

needs rockers, needs floors, need a new bed... I no longer buy rusty MJs, but if I did, I wouldn't pay more than a grand for that one. and that price is mostly because I like the cap.

my Dakota RT with the 3.92 ratio was a fun toy

for the rear you'll want to hunt down a mid 90s Rodeo rear axle. it's a disk braked d44 of the correct width and 6 bolt pattern and comes in some decent ratios like 4.10 and 4.30

poor thing got rear ended pretty hard. the engine and much of the interior was gone including the seat. I'm going back tomorrow to see about the bed and the rockers the pass side is in good shape and if I can unbolt it I'm bringing the whole thing home to slice it up at my leisure. couldn't get the drivers door to open so I'm not sure what to do about that. the bed pushed into the cab and that pushed into the door just enough that it won't unlatch properly.

that is a bummer. but it can certainly be rectified

do you have the VIN from the old truck? if so you should put it in the registry.

I don't want to store them, I want to bring them north to needy MJ owners. doing one at a time isn't very cost effective though. I think I can fit 4 on a uhaul trailer, but that has yet to be proven.

warms my heart to see an MJ being rebuilt rather than scrapped.

it's apparently been there for a month so there's no telling what's left.

not sure if it's a pretty sure that's a reused code and a modern axle.
