it's one thing when you bring in the next generation on a project, it's a whole 'nother level when they bring you in on a project. you're for sure doing something right! also many of us feel your pain and I just couldn't not share:

I got it for free so no loss if I just scrap it. it may look ok, but the area above the flares is thick with bondo/rust/newspaper and the rear has been squished in an accident. I just can't figure out any reason to keep even a part of it. (aside from the flares, bent tailgate and gas filler neck of course). it really pains me, but I've got to make room and keeping something with 0 value just can't happen.

absolutely. precisely why I'm just taking a half and only for sleeping. during the day I want to be on top of any warning signs.

on occasion I pull a muscle in the middle of my back, practically crippling me. don't know if it's the same muscle each time, but it's always in the same general location. one thing I've noticed is that it's NEVER when I'm doing something stupid, like wrestling with a Comanche bed. I spent all week moving rocks around, hauling heavy or awkward things out of junkyards, and today I was dropped mid-sentence as I was just standing there and turned slightly to the left. what the heck you stupid body! It could be worse (things can always be worse) as my dad has had spinal issues much of his life, but jeez that sucked. due to my other health issues I don't feel "good" every day, and so losing a day like today that could have been quite productive really stings. but the pain has subsided and tomorrow is another day. might pop half a muscle relaxant tonight. how many of you guys have back pain related stories? I'm sure there's more than a few. the human body sure is... complicated.

I can't even find an answer using google. they are a different part number than earlier shafts though. what brings on this particular question?

it's really only a partial sheet. the older years had a lot of info lost before getting into the Chrysler computers. but you can piece together more of it by comparing the parts that are on the truck (and assumed to be original) to the codes found on 1990 MJs that have the same features. there's even a chance of finding the literal sheet of paper with the build codes on it! it could be behind a door card, or the rear wall panel, or in the suspension under a seat, or even shoved up under the dash. there's no real rhyme or reason that we've found for where it might be or even if all trucks had it.

it's only 8 years old!

the truck was rear ended hard enough to push the bed into the cab so hard the door didn't come open without a crowbar and a sawsall. turned the truck into a slight banana shape. not sure if the frame was still perfectly true. I don't own a welder so making a trailer just isn't in the cards for me. gave some thought to the frame caps, but that's a bunch more effort than I really want to do in a junkyard. interior trim is all safely stored away in my barn while ripping out the carpet I discovered the shifter knob so I grabbed that too. that's the bumper you see under the bed, trying desperately to touch the spare tire crank

arguably any tire that isn't a "snow tire", isn't a snow tire. that little snowpeak only means that the tire isn't completely deadly when the temps drop. you'll see what I mean soon enough I was one year from having an AWD stickshift MJ with snow tires as my winter beater. then we sold the house and I had to cull the herd. dang. was super looking forward to that.

I using the entire back frame (or at least that's the plan). I don't see any way to disassemble the frame any more. it's like the foam was molded right to it.

the contrast between the paint and those flares is unlike anything I remember seeing. super good score though! looking forward to the progress

topper is waaaaay cheaper and waaaaay easier to haul a thousand miles. plus there's a certain satisfaction that comes with sleeping in your truck. (and doing it comfortably)
