  1. the other mirror was chrome so I assume this was also chrome before it broke. sometimes duct tape just isn't classy enough and ya gotta break out the shiny stuff.
  2. well, I almost got to contribute today, but my MJ trailer blew a tire 5 min into my drive and then I pulled something in my lower back and (necessitating my nephew to come help swap it out) and ended up canceling my big junkyard day (half-off at 4 local yards!) so close

  4. just make sure you weld the tubes to the diff on that 8.8
  5. not sure even the exploder axle is up to handling a 400 horse diesel. that's 60 territory.
  6. without the powder trick I would never in a million years found a couple of the pesky leaks
  7. I might have a spare around here somewhere. I'll go on the hunt tomorrow.
  8. from another bench. how did you manage to break that?
  9. is that on the back part? if you don't have headrests, I'd seek out a rear/back frame unit that does and use that if you're anywhere near atlanta, I can help with that.
  10. chicken butt. sorry, I'm around little people a lot. I'm assuming the sticks came?
  11. I like Minipearl. much better than Eggy, which was all I had in my head. when you're ready, just start a new thread and put a poll in it. I think regular accounts can do that?
  12. I'm of no help. I referred to all my trucks by their color. (which is complicated since I painted the red truck tan... and then bought another red truck)
  13. your stickers are in the super duper capable hands of the never-late, never-lose-anything US post office

  15. if you have real access to the inside of the frame, you can apply the por-15 type products.
  16. headed up to my cousin's place to address some things. ended up replacing the cast iron drain, installing a new sink and disposal, new front steps, all new brakes on the car, blown ujoint on the truck, but I drew the line at the crazy ancient fuse box. I can do a lot, but he's going to call an electrician for that. the house was built in 1900 and so more or less predates electricity and so everything was an add-on afterthought. lights, outlets, furnace... everything. the wiring throughout the house is an absolute mess (some knob-n-tube, some romex) and looking at the four 30amp fuses (that's it, there's nothing more), I'm not sure that anything is actually protected.
  17. at what point does the responsibility transfer from the forklift operator to the driver?
  18. gotta say I never thought about simply adding a vac ball to the 4wd system to help maintain engagement. kudos!
  19. google says they are the same bulbs and the 2 simply refers to there being 2 in the pack.
  20. long, looong ago I fabbed a flat bar that added the pivot hole. but we live in the future now and I, too, would go with the AZZY stuff.
  21. this is more a general tip than for this in particular (the only swap I've done was for a manual), but split wire loom is a miracle working for preventing abrasion issues.
  22. the tach will likely be off. but I can't remember which years might be adjustable.
  23. the lights themselves should rotate up and down, with one of those 3 positions being "on".
  24. should be able to simply blast them with rustoleum. regular paint is pretty tough if properly prepped and applied. I guess you could step up to an enamel paint if you'd like. certain can't hurt
  25. does a pic of my trailer next to Lowes count? because it might be a while before one of my MJs gets to do anything that interesting.
