it's amazing what some hot glue and paint will do. these are the busted up tails I've had on the trailer this entire time (I'm not putting nice things on the back of the trailer until I get it to a car show). inspired by a painted pair I just sold, I bought some black and clear and started gluing them back together. after bringing the tails into the house I discovered a wasp in one. she was unhappy about that, but I took the housing outside and she flew off. her nest was not so lucky. they look fantastic from 20 ft. I assure you, these are horrible tails. but regardless, weather permitting I hope to get them installed in the morning.

I win. the winning move was to just sacrifice as many drill bits as needed. the sale of a tail can buy replacements.

holy crap does this photo take me back. don't even remember how many went through my hands. 20? more? I had like a dozen in the garage at one point.

a lot of recycling/junkyards will sell used cars too. especially if they realize it's worth 4-5 thousand bucks.

I mean, they both work. but no, I wouldn't take a torch to them when slicing/grinding is needed anyways. I just can't see it saving any time.

I used a sawzall and just sliced along the frame.

there's nothing left of the phillips heads to bite with a screwdriver.

one inner remains (which spun around in a circle) and both outers are there (heads were stripped). drilling them out has proven far more difficult than anticipated. I think I know why this tail was still connected to the bed when I got it.

takes lots of tools and spare parts. keep us posted.

I don't know what those stupid phillip screws are made of, but I've ruined 2 of my uber bits on them. looking for out of the box ideas on getting this light off. (pun intended) if anyone is contemplating using anything but a stainless screw and matching stainless clip nut... DON'T.

So The Hu have lead me to understand something I guess I learned a while ago, I really like music where I can't understand the words. it becomes pure instrumental with the voices just being another instrument in the mix.
