  1. the 2.5/4spd usually came with 3.55 gears which is the prime reason why she feels super sluggish.
  2. a new latch just glues on with rearviewmirror adhesive. swapping out the pane is far more effort though, but the assembly does come apart after you remove it from the truck.
  3. did they do the truck justice?

    Gas prices

filled up for $3.19 cash/credit on the way back from the junkyard sunday. and of course saw 3.15 cash 1 minute further down the street.
  5. the latch can be replaced and the glass lubed.
  6. that's a good question. the usual choices are scrap sheetmetal formed to fill in just the rust, or a replacement bed. I wonder if a ranger or s-10 would be close?
  7. vacuum strength drops as engine load increases. but in theory it shouldn't drop far enough to fail at keeping the door open. it's the job of the vacuum reservoir to hold some reserve for just that occurrence, but I know guys that eliminated it and claim to have no side effects. the sphere isn't cracked is it? hose going to it is in good shape?
  8. well, I can't say for sure why it's happening, but it's definitely a weak vacuum strength if it's defaulting to defrost.
  9. that.... is a project. very cool though!
  10. my suggest for new-to-you 35 year old trucks is always to leave it alone and drive it a while. weed out all the potential gremlins before you introduce more with reconstructive surgery to the suspension.
  11. I used a cruise control switch bracket back when I did my 90 and a brake switch from a grand waggy to trigger it. that was over a decade ago though, so I'm not sure if I have pics. I'll hunt around.
  12. that's pretty cool.
  13. I might be able to make that happen. but it'll be on the return drive on like the 22nd of sept. I'm making a bee-line for Wisconsin on the way up to deliver a bed. I've been meaning to get out there for so long now. lol. I may come down to the coast in October either way.
  14. assume it is and work accordingly. can't go back once you find out otherwise.
  15. the P in the VIN indicates it is a Pioneer.
  16. good score!
  17. working on a member's truck and her dash is... very southern. so I'm on the lookout for a northern dash to swap in. barring a color-match I'm sure I can find a grey one this next trip north, but figured I'd see if anyone knows of a cordovan dash in a yard between here and detroit.
  18. this gap always bothered me, but rather than do all the work to move the gate up, I dug through my emblems and stuck some on.
  19. super poorly attached front hooks? and maybe running boards?
  20. bunny!
  21. confirmed!
  22. the dashpad surface is insanely brittle. I mean, on some of them you can push your finger through. gotta be super duper careful removing those top phillips screws so you don't touch the pad itself. I recommend buying one of these:
