    your first car

"My first car" could have many meanings. First that I was allowed to drive with any regularity: Dad's '86 Aerostar (v6, stick shift :D ) -long gone First that I could even have remotely considered "mine": Mom's old '85.5 Escort (stick, last year for the carb) -long gone First used that I bought: my '88 MJ (2wd at the time) -still have First new that I bought: '2000 Dakota R/T -still have
  4. Blown engine or not it was one sweeeeet ride. :D I assume you told the new owner about the club, yes? :brows:
  5. Fullwidth baby!!!!
  6. Between a couple of the diff cover bolts should be a small metal tag with a bunch of numbers on it. The gear ratio is on there somewhere.
  7. done.

  11. I've changed my mind. The DIY forum has been unlocked and you guys can post your finished projects in there at any time and everyone can respond to them at any time. I just ask that the original author update the original post if any changes are made. I know it might make the rest of the discussion sound weird, but I want the first post to be the project.
  12. This one in particular has a lot of good reading in it. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6664
  13. Sweet. I think I'll be doing that. :D Thanks!
  14. When in doubt, add a catch bottle. I had to. :(

    1992's

Last time I saw those numbers it had "4x4 only" next to them.
  16. If it helps at all, this is the procedure for adjusting the linkages.
  17. Lots of good facts (and opinions) here: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6664
  18. The T-case is a mechanical linkage, the front axle disconnect is switched by vacuum.
  19. The front U-joints and the Dana 35 will be your weak links. You'll likely eventually want to upgrade the front U-joints/axleshafts to the larger 297/760 size and swap out the rearend with an XJ/MJ Dana 44 or Ford 8.8 from an Explorer. The more gentle you are on your stock axles, the longer they may last.
  20. In my opinion, the best things you can do are routine maintenance and then gears, gears, and more gears. What trans do you have and what size tires? Done a tune up recently? Running the original cat?

  22. I cannot stress how important it is for everyone that wants a hat to get in on it now. The minimum buy amount is 45 hats and I don't know if we'll ever have enough interest to do this again. I'll certainly try to buy a few extra, but can't make promises as to how many (all depends on how much money I can free up to do it). Please send me a PM with the following info: -your order -your address -are you paying with paypal or a money order -and if you need any more stickers, magnets, or club business cards. Especially let me know if I've never sent you any ComancheClub magnets yet! I'll reply with: -either my address for money orders or my paypal addy for that -your total And if you pay with paypal, please put your screen name in it somewhere so I don't have to hunt down who just sent me money! :thwak: I'll be placing the order on Dec 17th. Once the order comes back to me, I'll send them out asap. Hats take a couple weeks or so to make after I place the order. We're getting in to the christmas crunch so it's hard to say how long for sure. The prices are as follows. Hats: $17.40 each (actually $16.40 + 1/50th of the $50 setup charge) shipping (box included): $3 (might vary slightly since I'm still looking for 50 cheap small-but-sturdy boxes) Payment though paypal: $1 (they're going to charge me) Can cozy: $1.50 each Shipping for can cozies with no hats should be about $1.50 (since I can stick them in an envelope) So as an example, if you wanted one hat and 2 cozies and are sending it via paypal, it'd be about $25 total. As with the stickers/decals, donations beyond the actual costs are welcome and go towards the website fees. To refresh everyones memory, the caps are made in the USA :USAflag: and they'll look like this but be khaki/tan with brown embroidering: "ComancheClub.com" will be stitched in an arc across the back and a version of this image stitched on the front: Can cozies will essentially look something like this: http://www.t-shirtexpressions.com/NewPictures06/iig_can_cozy.jpg that's a generic image I found online, but they are the style with the folding bottom that collapses to fit in your pocket. If this goes over well, I'll look into doing T-shirts next. One project at a time though.
  23. Got a picture of the damage to the fender?
  24. Not sure if it'll help anything, but your driveshaft is on backwards. The rubber isolator should be down by the axle.
  25. No one will ever have to pay anything to use any feature on this site. Not while I'm in charge at least. It is empty for the time being. If you are doing a how-to, please put it in the tech section for now.
