  1. how di you mistaken that car with the fuzzy pig lol :rotfl2: Javelin, Javelina,... I missed a letter. :D
  2. I got to touch it. :D
  3. I went halfway in my 88. I added a later model "open" radiator (one with a cap), but kept the rest of the closed system. Seems to work just fine and I have a radiator cap to fill through.
  4. I wanted to make sure I mentioned it if anyone else was thinking about going with a 242.
  5. I hate to burst your bubble, but it's a photochop. He did a few more variations on it too.
  6. If anyone is contemplating a 242 swap and are still running a CAD front axle, then you'll want to plan on permanently shifting the CAD so that it cannot disengage. If it lets go while in AWD mode, you can kiss your 242 goodbye.
  7. No doubt. I still haven't figured out why the search is so hinky. I've tried adjusting the settings with no luck. Maybe the next update will fix the software, Besides, if anyone gets tired of responding to common questions, they don't have to respond. Everyone's situation is different and I prefer members to ask their questions so that the answers can be tailored to the details at hand.
  8. We'll see how cool it is after you get third degree burns. Or when the fumes come wafting into the cab. :D
  9. You might want to post an ad in the classifieds. Plenty of us don't have inspections in our neck of the woods and I'm sure someone would be willing to help you out.
  10. If I needed to replace all that, I'd rater go buy a later model XJ front axle that was in better shape than mine and swap it in. Last Dana 30 I bought was about $150 complete and just needed a brake job. (the brakes will be different between an 88 and the last XJs so don't expect to reuse the 88's rotors etc.)
  11. Early MJ AX-5s were external, Later were internal.
  12. car-part.com may be able to help you out. Same with finding a Dana 30 with 4.10 gears.
  13. I never buy new tires or wheels. :brows: My used set of 33" trxus cost me 300. With rims. I'd sink my money into gears.
  14. 15x8s will hold the bead better. What axles are you using? Gearing?
  15. Great. sigh... Guess they haven't quite worked out all the bugs. I have a choice in the forum setup to allow forwarding of messages. It's a choice. But apparently checking "yes" doesn't actually mean yes. :shake: "Item one fifty-one on today's glitch list. We've got all the problems of a major theme park and a major zoo, and the computer's not even on its feet yet."
  16. Be prepared for that nice 2.5 to suck if you're adding bigger tires without regearing. :( And if you're going to 33s, it'll suck a lot.
  17. Friends don't let friends use lift blocks. They will cause major spring wrap issues. If you seriously need more than 6" of lift, add in an AAL (personally I'd go with more MJ leafs added in). And if you're on a budget, why are you going so big? What are you doing for axles? tires? gearing? Steering?
  18. There is a "forward" button located at the bottom of the PM. Why it's not next to the "quote" and "reply" buttons, I'll never know. :dunno:
  19. Great! Then you won't mind driving over to Detroit to install my engine. ;) Oh, and even better, the garage isn't available at this moment so you'll get to do it outside. :rotf:
  20. Be careful with the exhaust, especially with a 2.5L. The stock engine is designed around a certain amount of backpressure. If you free up the exhaust too much, you can gain some top-end HP, but lose a lot of low-end TQ.
  21. Best bang for your buck on the 2.5 will likely be removing the stock radiator fan an installing an electric one. Other than that, gears, gears, gears, gears, but that isn't typically cheap. What axle ratio do you have now? 2wd or 4wd? Tire size?
  22. I misread that and the pig was not the first thing that popped into my head. :shake:
  23. Are you at least swapping the little speedometer gear to keep your odo accurate with the bigger tires?
  24. A-hem  But anyways, back to the issue at hand. I seem to remember that all MJs came with the 3 holes for the crossmember, just that the unused ones weren't tapped. Make extra sure you don't have a pair of unused holes under there.
