  1. What axles are you planning to run?
  2. What a coincidence, I once traded a 75 dollar 8.8 for a rust free MJ body. I paid about $800 for a 78 Bronco with a trashed body and parted it out for about 2 grand and got free axles in the process.
  3. Were longer control arms part of the lift?
  4. It'd likely take decades to make up the cost of the conversion. :( And yes, your fuel mileage will be a bit lower with bigger tires.
  5. I think it's actually 91+. I'll have to go check out my 90 (when it stops raining).
  6. All I'm saying is, buy another one for this project. Or just buy a 2.5L truck to begin with and save yourself a lot of headache. First rule of engine swaps is: "just because the block is free, doesn't necessarily make it a good choice".
  7. Feel free to start one up. It should probably go in the Pub.
  8. A lot of work. Splicing and fabbing and adapting and yelling. My brain hurts just thinking about it. Or maybe my brain hurts because you're contemplating yanking out a v8 instead of buying a new truck to work with for this project. :hmm: A 2.5L Jeep is dirt cheap these days.
  9. Making it might be tough. It's an overly complicated rotating assembly. It's hard to describe. But any MJ or XJ with the NP-231 t-case (meaning there's no full-time option) will be able to donate their parts. Look into pullapart.com and see how close the nearest location is to you. I know there's one in Norcross and one n Lithonia. Cool junkyards. Worth the trip just to walk around. :D Also, Your truck would have received the BA-10 Peugeot transmission from the factory. Though it's possible that someone swapped in an AX-15 after the Peugeot went belly-up. The AX-5 and AX-15 look very similar, but the AX-5 won't bolt- to the 4.0L.
  10. Where would you put it? The dash is pretty small. :hmm:
  11. I prefer the grease-ables too, but my non-grease-able U-joint from autozone is still going strong. :dunno:
  12. Questions should really go in the Tech forum so more guys will see it.
  13. As long as the bolt doesn't strip, leverage should work. If it strips, then you get to be creative. My bro-in-law's neon had a plug that could have been welded on. In the end we bashed a too-small socket on to it. :D
  14. Mine was about a hundred, but I got it from my neighbor. (yeah yeah, I know. Not much help to ya. :D )
  15. You'd be surprised how hard it is to get the guys to do simple things (for example, taking pictures of the trucks NOT in the driveway). The "who am I talking to" thread is probably as good as it gets. :D
  16. When was the last time the throttle body area was cleaned with TB cleaner and a toothbrush?
  17. Can you take some measurements of the tank?

I bought my Elan 7e and lenses from Abe's of Maine.
  19. It's all itty-bitty. Got any bigger pics? :brows:
  20. Don't ask me. :D I tend to pick up my MJs for next to nothing. Although Jeepco still has me beat in that regard. :shake:
  21. Go ahead any copy anything you'd like. That's why I took photos to share. I'm sure the other guys would be able to point you to some good cages, all I can say is 1.75" DOM is the minimum I would use (my rollbar is 2" DOM, but if I added more, it'd be 1.75) and diagonals are your friends. :D The only thing I regret from the initial install is the lack of a diagonal behind the cab. I left it for phase 2, but phase 2 hasn't happened yet (and it's been a few years now).
  22. If the search is working, you might be able to find it in the Pub. :D Look for threads that he started.
  23. All MJs, no matter how nice the exterior or undercarriage, are susceptible to water getting under the carpet (from like a dozen different ways). And once it's there, the rust will follow. :( The rust-free MJ sitting in my parents garage in Georgia was caught just in time.
  24. The explorer is pretty much the only one that works with our trucks. The rest have the wrong wheel bolt pattern or the wrong width.

I absolutely adore my Canon Cyber-shot. Don't know how much they go for these days though. Probably still over your limit. Besides taking phenomenal pictures, the lens does NOT extend out of the camera (I have friends that have had those moving parts fail), the cover slides up and down to genuinely protect the lens, and it takes like 2 seconds to power up to take a shot. :D Most of the photos on my picturetrail site were snapped with this Canon. The gumstick Lithium rechargeable battery lasts a good long time too. ...and I also owned an Elan-7e. Had to part with the old girl to help cover my bills. Was a sad day for sure. :( But I hung on to my lenses. :D Like my Canon 75-300 zoom with the image stabilization.
