  1. Oh, and Explorer leafpacks can also work. They sit a bit lower than even 2wd MJ packs. But you must reuse your MJ main leaf and re-drill it to accept the slightly larger Explorer center bolt. 4wd MJ on the left, 2wd in the middle and Explorer on the right:
  2. Not that I know of. By this point in time, the condition of the leafs matters a lot. I swapped out my old rusty 2wd leafs for a rust-free pair from FL and got an inch of lift. :dunno: While we're on the subject, to help battle the springwrap I added a second MJ main leaf to my packs by cutting off the eyes and placing it directly below the main in the new pack.
  3. 2wd MJ packs sit about 1" lower than 4wd packs (from the factory at least)
  4. I've got 1 of the three necessary requirements. There's space at the parents' place in GA. :D Too bad I have no money for purchase or shipping. :(
  5. I believe I saw it on "Extreme 4x4" the tv show. Essentially, you pull out the 3rd member, gut the housing, pull off the knuckles, flip the housing to become a drivers side drop, then reassemble. If you say it fast enough, it almost sounds easy. :D
  6. Checked the engine block ground? Just a thought. I also had a super rich condition in my 86 (carbed, so I don't know if it really correlates) due to a weak connection at the coil (the wire that feeds 12volts to the coil). The weak spark wasn't burnign all the fuel in every cylinder. Eventually I blew up my muffler while trying to diagnose it. :D
  7. Don't be happy just yet. It could easily be a 3.55 or 3.31, etc.
  8. Impossible to know for sure. 86 was a funky year with few hard rules. :(
  9. So what are you waiting for? Go write that DIY!
  10. Any 2.5L block from any year Jeep will work. (note that the older CJs had a "iron duke" 4banger and that is a completely different engine)
  11. you can still use the block.
  12. Aaahhhh. That's a bit trickier. :ack:
  13. I've seen it done before, but flipping the Toy axle still sounds like a ton of work to me. :ack: More power to ya.
  14. Autozone's website shows a speedo cable available.
  15. With 33s I'd bump up that ratio to 4.56.
  16. I'm confused then. Can you show a picture of what you're looking for?
  17. I used a steel punch. Just be very careful.
  18. You won't break a thing. Don't sweat it. As Geo said, a lot of MJs run even higher rpms.
  19. 4.10s work just fine with 31s on the highway. I've got 3.92s and 28" tires in my Dak R/T. The lowest possible rpms don't necessarily translate directly into better mpgs.
