As long as you can shift properly, the interlock cable is not necessary. I disco'd mine from my floor shifter in my XJ a long time ago.

map sensor throttle body connection on renix

I used a length of vacuum line with the plastic pieces at the ends to join it all together -
Rear axle swap questions. Mostly Exploder 8.8
Crash replied to Crash's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pretty sure the Exploder leaf plates are basically the same as the MJ plates, just longer to accommodate the larger axle tubes. The exploder shocks mount behind the axle, IIRC, but should be easy enough to swap. It will probably be longer than I want, because the friend whom I'm supposed to be picking up the 8.8 from is on vacation! Maybe I am slightly bitter, since I have to pay to fix my truck? haha. -
Rear axle swap questions. Mostly Exploder 8.8
Crash replied to Crash's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Staying SUA, so i figure that i could use the Exploder leaf plates with the shock mounts for meow. I live in California so it's pretty clean. Thought about finding a longer soft line as I plan on some lift at some point. But, getting back on the road is more important currently. -
The search engine here and naxja lack. The only thread I can find on this is old and is missing some answers. My Turdy5 gave up a couple weeks ago. Instead of polishing this turd, I would like to swap in a better axle. Most likely will be able to pick up an Exploder 8.8, complete, not sure on specific gears, lsd, etc. But something functional is better than not. I know that the mounts need to be removed, and new perches welded on. And possibly shock mounts. But in theory I can use the Exploder spring plates to run the shock like the mj is factory? Also, what I have gathered is that the exploder soft brake line will bolt in to the MJ hard like, true? One of the biggest things I need to know is will the park brake lines from the exploder work, or what do I need to get to make them work. My MJ is a manual, so this is important. It is also my understanding that flipping the backing plates side to side will put the calipers in the front and make the cables closer? Apologies if it seems like I am writing a book. But, I just want to make sure that there is not anything I am missing. I will be staying spring under.

AX15 installed now- shift (tower) too far back.
Crash replied to dkroll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is this the shifter you have? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Core-Hurst-shifter-1989-1999-Jeep-Cherokee-Comanche-6-cyl-w-AX15-5-speed-/281751911409?hash=item4199b8fbf1&vxp=mtr -
Never seen one that looks specifically like that. But my renix XJ had one that was a band-style wraparound and attachment to the bellhousing. Can't say for sure exactly what it was, but not really necessary.

Underbody coating for rust protection
Crash replied to indreland's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have several cans of the Permatex Rubberized undercoating that I will be using on my MJ. I want to get stiffeners welded on first though. -
Is this still a "thing"?

So, discovered Thursday eve while at the beach for my girlfriend's bday that the BA10/5 and stock drive shaft are superior to a Turdy5. Got my MJ into some soft stuff and something broke in the Turdy5.

Opinions On Fender Flares Pics Wanted
Crash replied to 87mjdriver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Trim your fenders as necessary and use FLEXY FLARES. -
The sensor for the fan is the one in the stat housing. You can check resistance and check specs. I would do it hot and cold.

ax15 from 92 YJ for my 4x4 swap
Crash replied to egghead's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Clutch itself should be plug n pray. Renix flywheel needs to be used. Late model AX-15 (if complete with bellhousing) is external slave vs internal. -
MJ D44 fell through. But I recently picked up a HP D30 non-disco housing form a buddy of mine. Today, I found a YJ D30 with a Detroit Tru-trac, 4.56 gears and Warn hub conversion. I will for sure be keeping the gears and TT for my MJ. Ordered a new pair of Matching tires to go on my MJ. When I find matching spare/s I will use my almost bald matching Yoko AT-s.

Looks nice. The DSG is a great trans. Much better than the previous Tiptronic POS. Easy, and fairly inexpensive to mod to make lots of power. If I ever get around to buying a new, or at least 21st century made vehicle. It will either be an Audi A3 TDi, or a Golf TDI.

Front shocks from XJ are the same as MJ. Rear MJ shocks are eye-to-eye mounting vs XJ lower eye, top is bar pin. You can press in a bar pin or make, buy use a bar pin elim. And hornbrod, What they were trying to say is that the sway bar mount as a BPE turns the head/bushing 90 degrees from factory mounting. Which in theory puts torsional force on the shock as it moves since the lower mount faces the same way.

Never had an urge to ever go back to AZ, Maybe I will for this. Oh wait, there's a member that is going to make custom plates. That I would be able to use to build whatever I want. I think I will take that option!

Rear amber tail lenses in factory tail lights
Crash replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I agree to a point. For XJ, I really like the Euro tails but the amber is minimal. I also like the waggy talis that are all red, minus the backup of course. What seems odd about this is that these trucks came FROM THE FACTORY with Fully red tail lights. As do a lot of other vehicles. I guess it is one thing to be picky about something that is aftermarket, but factory? That sounds like a load of fail. -
The 3.4L is a plug n pray upgrade for the 2.8. It just makes sense. Proabably cheaper than a head swap on the 2.8L

I do not have one yet, but times however many on the boostwerks linkage, I plan to convert my XJ eventually and my MJ when I do a 4WD conversion.

87 is renix, they will actually run decently without an Os2 hooked up. Yes, they do run on ECU parameters, but they do run. A while back when my O2 was failing on my renix XJ, I disco'd my O2 sensor and it ran fine until I could afford to buy a new one.

can a '97 front clip be installed on a '88 comanche?
Crash replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks to have a "W" cut out, so I would guess warn? -
What's the word on this?
