Watch out for Pancreatitus. 'Joe' on another board got it, and I think he's still hospitalized (since last May). :( yeah, I know....I've got a full lipid/kidney/liver panel blood draw scheduled in a couple of weeks (get it done bi-annually) last time the doc asked if I ever had pancreatitus....I said I didn't know, how would I know if I had it or not (?) Apparently, if you have it, you KNOW you have it... I've had about every chol test known to man done to me over the last several years (even had my blood spun up and had the fat molecules in it measured), and it all boils down to heredity.....it's not dietary (although I'm an ex-chef, I do tend to eat fairly well). My body produces chol and metabolizes it. I'm a freak of nature, so it seems. I once worked with a pastry chef way back in the day. She was about 4'8" on a good day, and weighed maybe 90 lbs soaking wet and a board strapped to her @$$, and her chol was 475  mine's a bit higher than that, too (I'm 5'8", and stay between 175-180 consistently). if you plow it, they will pay....... c'mon down and hang with us for the weekend.....our club is gonna be rollin' hard, delivering meals-on-wheels (both people and pets) and running med staff into the local hospitals and pulling stoopid people out of ditches and snowbanks and.....you get the idea :D Jeff

I hit the big 4-0 next month........all I have is gout (controlled with daily meds thank God), cholesterol so high you wouldn't believe my numbers if I told you, and was just started on high blood pressure meds last week. Yay me.... Jeff also blew up my R knee in the late 90's and couldn't walk for about two years, but that's all better now ;)

early prognosis on this weekend's weather setting up for the mid-Atlantic, shows an even BIGGER storm than what we got this weekend. Still too early to lock in a precip forecast, but this one could be a doozey.......stay tuned Jeff Image Not Found

Had our second "major" snowstorm in the last 30 days here in good 'ole Virginny yesterday...... this was my kitchen door around 8 PM. We got about another 4-5" after this, then it finally died off ('bout 15" total). Glad we moved to VA from PA to get away from the snow  Jeff Image Not Found

I've got a set of those strap bolts, off an MJ in the junkyard. I got them for Tom (mjtjnj) but forgot to give them to him when he was down here a couple weeks ago (oops). If he ends up not needing them, I can send them along to whoever needs them. Let the bidding begin at one 6-pak of Bud Light........ ;) Jeff

whatever year you decide on, do not....I repeat DO NOT get one with a 2.5L if you plan on DD-ing it on the highway. I speak from experience....... Jeff

you really don't have to swap out the dash/cab harness unless you really want to 'cuase it's a bit newer and may be in better shape.....just need to swap the engine harness and 4.0 ECU (since your keeping it Renix). Jeff

use a good set of flarenut wrenches...... spray down the threads at both ends with a good penetrant (Kroil, PB Blaster, etc. not WD-40) beforehand and give it time to wick into the threads drink beer after removing, not before  Jeff (welcome to CC, too......)

I've looked at a 60/40 Dakota bench more than a couple of times while in the junkyards, thinking about it.......looks to me like it would fit width-wise. You can fab all the rest. Jeff

How do you change the door pins?
mjeff87 replied to trapperbb's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Channel lock pliers......put the upper jaw end on the bottom of the pin and the top jaw end at the edge of the bracket that the hinge end sits in, squeeze and the pin will pop up. Once it pops, use a pair of needlenose to wiggle it free. Install is opposite of removal, minus the needlenose step, and with the channel locks flipped over.....press the new pin in from above. Jeff -
Jim can use it....he's got a grandpa build going on :D Jeff

Comanche trouble . . .1988 2.5L TBI.

sounds fuel filter related to me.... Jeff -
I know hornbrod was fiddling around with this awhile back.....not sure if he ever figured it out or not. The problem is that there may not be a way to switch the wiring (at least easily) either at the potentiometer in the tank or on the printed circuit for the gauge cluster. Even if you did manage to reverse the polarity, there's still the difference in scale on the pot between Renix and HO.....you'd get the needle moving in the right direction at least, but wouln't be extremely accurate (like the factory setup is accurate to begin with......) Don, you ever figure this one out? I've got an old Renix pump assembly sitting in the parts pile I can take pics of for you or let you borrow if you need one to pick at....lemme know. Jeff
-
Renix and HO gauges are wired differently (polarity is reversed and resistance is different)....if he swaps in the HO cluster along with the 95 cab wiring, it will read backwards and a bit off as well. I'm running an HO pump on my 87, 1/4 tank on my gauge is full. I never figured out what "empty" actually reads....I usually fill up around the 3/4 mark and that only takes about 8 gallons. Jeff edit: just reread your post......you've done 20+ 4.0 swaps? wow...

started rigging up some 'lectric in the garage today.....well, not me but my Jeep buddy Danny. We lifted his Rubicon yesterday, and I brought him back two 30 packs of IC Light and a couple pounds of chipped ham with a bottle of Islay's sauce when we went to PA last week (it's a Pittsburgh thing if you don't understand ;) ). We ran EMT from the box back to the workbench and installed two 20A duplex outlets (each on a seperate breaker) there, and dropped two duplex outlets below the box in the front of the garage. We offset those becuase we're going to drop in a 220 outlet beside it down the road, and we're gonna rewire my bootyfab overhead lights too. Did all this in about 2 hours, then went to Hooters for lunch with the rest of the club that showed up to drink and watch us work...... EMT run Image Not Found outlets at the bench Image Not Found cleaned up the bench Image Not Found outlet below the panel Image Not Found

Yes, it's steel....and you hear a bit more valvetrain noise with it (if that matters to you). Changeover was '97 model year. Jeff -

Ditto, that's the way I'm running mine currently. I've got a set of RE perches for the tube, just haven't gotten around to welding them on yet. Shocks are Monroe something-or-others for a stock Taco......way short and way cheap, too :D Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found
