My MJ is not a DD anymore. I "had" a '94 1.9L Escort that just sipped gas (averaged between 36-40 mpg in varied driving). My wife ended up inheriting her new Subaru due to a death in the family, and I took her Kia Spectra (30-35 mpg) and sold the Escort for $700 cash because we didn't need 4 vehicles. Totaled the Kia last Thanksgiving :headpop: and ended up buying the TJ. It gets 20 mpg average.....not too bad, but I do miss the econoboxes. Jeff

I'm gonna go take a look at it this weekend hopefully (with a tape measure)

My wife might just kill me, but I'm having a hard time deciding not to grab this http://www.eastcoast4wd.net/forums/show ... #post41388 and it's red, too......it'll match the fleet :D Jeff

It's one of those little $5 parts that you will kick yourself for not replacing if it goes bad down the road........ ;) Jeff

Cool, thanks. I've got a brand new XJ sending unit with pump to work with. I was just looking at the 2.5 pump and bracket when I had it out recently, and wondered if a 4.0 pump would bolt into it. Now I know.... Jeff p.s. I'm gonna have to make a roadtrip one of these weekends down to check out your MJ. I'm jealous ;)

fuel pump question..... Did you just swap the 4.0 pump onto the 2.5 bracket, or swap entire assemblies? If you swapped pumps, how did you mount it on the 2.5 bracket? And if you swapped assemblies, is that an XJ or MJ assembly you have pictured there? How'd you make that work? That's the last piece of the logistical puzzle I hafta figure out for my 4.0 swap, what to do with the fuel pump. I just replaced the 2.5 pump in mine about a month or so ago :headpop: (so I know it's good and brand new) and was going to initially try it and see if it will supply enough pressure to the injectors (two others who have done 2.5/4.0 swaps and said they didn't swap pumps, but I would only do it temporarily). Thanks, Jeff

I just spit my lunch out laughing at that one........sorry! :D Jeff

It's all a setup, see....... they're just bringing it back to da 'Burg for the final game of the series :D almost makes me want to go home this weekend, but seeing as how it's a Sunday game, I'd be in no shape to drive back to VA for work on Monday.... ;) gonna be a good TV weekend for hockey, both series ahhhhhh....Lookout Loretta! Jeff

<> that game last night was ugly...... Jeff

as a third backup for you.....I'll be starting a 4.0 swap on my 2.5 MJ here within a couple of weeks. Once I pull the 2.5 wiring harness and replace with the 4.0, I'll have a spare 2.5 ECU. If you need it, let me know. Jeff

Tom, Fuel, air, spark, compression...... You have spark, and air (unless a family of squirrels have taken up residence inside the manifold :D ). I doubt you've lost compression, so that leads to fuel. Your pump may be supplying adequate pressure to the TB, but the injector may not be working. Verify fuel pressure to the TB, and if it checks out, suspect the TB wiring. Hook an analog meter to the two posts on the injector (back probe them) and have someone crank the engine...you should see the meter needle sweep back and forth, confirming voltage pulses to the injector. If not, you may have a break in the wiring to it. Glad to see you're still around  Jeff

Windshield Frame removal question
mjeff87 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just had the windscreen replaced in the wife's car (Subaru Legacy) by a local, owner-operator company this past weekend. The guy actually came to our house on Saturday and did the work in the driveway. We got to talking about the MJ, which has two chips in it that I've had sealed in lieu of replacement glass for fear of the molding clips. He said he could get the clips (was very familiar with them, I was impressed) in bags of about 150 each, if needed. He also suggested switching to the newer glass with the gasket (and eliminating the trim) out of later model XJ's. If enough folks were interested, I could call him and order a bag of clips and we could split them up to whoever needed them..... Jeff -
Game #3......4-1 Pens  Hallelujia Hollywood! Jeff

you'll need to jumper the wiring for the NSS for fire. On the bottom set of wires on the connector, jump the two inside wires together (black and white wires, IIRC). Jeff

I've got a couple PCI modems (NIB) if you want them, and I think I even have an external one, if you have a spare COM port on one of them and can use it. Lemme know and I'll send them yer way.... Jeff

X2 I've got an 89 harness from an auto, ready to go into my 87 5 speed. The only difference is an extra harness that goes from the ECU to the TCU under the dash, and to the tranny wiring. Jeff

  deja va for game two.......4-2 again. I miss Mike Lange, used to be able to pick his broadcast up on the 'net  Buy Sam a drink and get his dog one too! Jeff

Sending Unit, found two suppliers

I have one of the E7091 assemblies (bought from a club member), new in box. It is a Cherokee pump assembly. Jeff -
Wahoo, you forget (or maybe I never mentioned it), but I was a professional chef for about 16 years, up until '99 when I blew my knee up and couldn't walk for over a year.....now I'm a fat lazy state employee who buys food instead of cooking it :chillin: The best food is kept simple with good ingredients, with proper cooking technique. Let the flavor come out of the food, don't try to add flavor to it Jeff

at least we're not talking about barbecue............. Jeff

It's a vaccuum operated valve that allows coolant flow to the heater core. When you slide the temp control on the heater control over to hot, you also are sending a vac signal to it to open up. When it's set to cold, coolant doesn't circulate thru the core. You can eliminate it, you'll just have your core active all the time. It may be a bit warmer inside the cab in the summer, though. Jeff

For an auto, there are 4 nuts that attach to the studs on the booster that hold the pedal bracket to the firewall. They are 14 or 15mm. The two nuts on top are larger, 17mm IIRC. The auto bracket doesn't have provisions for the clutch pedal. The manual bracket has an extended piece at the bottom (at the firewall) that has a stud in it for the clutch master. It is a royal PITA to get all four booster studs and that stud for the clutch thru the firewall and lined up. At least for me it was.....I think an extra pair of hands holding the booster from the engine side while you line everything up would make it easier. Jeff
