  1. I've got a bunch of Comanche emblems, plus a set of "4X4" ones, if you can't find any. Hit me backchannel and we can figure something out (like give me your mailing address and you can have them..... ;) ) Every time I see an MJ in the 'yards, I pull them off, if they are still there. Jeff
  2. If you ever get down to the Hampton area, check out Harpoon Larry's. It's a pretty "unique" place :brows: Couldn't tell ya where it is, 'cause I was drunk when I was thrown into a car and taken there one night, but it's behind the convention center, somewhere.... Jeff
  3. Actually, I read somewhere (on the interweb, so it must be true :D ) that the "40" stands for the 40th formulation of the product. Guess the first 39 tries weren't any good..... Jeff
  4. Well, the critter is in it's new home. I present to ya all.... Little Willie ;) Image Not Found
  5. you guys...... ;) cats are the coolest pets ever (at least mine are, most of the time) keep a bowl of chow out, and a bowl of water......and a clean crapper, and they could care less about you. In fact, I think they like it better when we're not home than when we are. Try that with a dog. Of course, stepping in a pile of cold, wet cat puke at 0300 on my way to the head isn't really that fun, but it's small tolerance :headpop: Jeff Image Not Found
  6. We've got a contractor on site at work now installing a security fence. Walking past the pile of rolled fencing beside the building this morning, we heard a yelping kitten stuck under a couple thousand lbs. of material. After carefully pulling all the rolls off the stack by hand, we found the source of all the comotion....... Image Not Found One of my co-workers has decided to adopt him. Id'a taken him home, but I know that my one psycho cat would use him as a chew toy, and he'd be dead inside 5 minutes.... Jeff
  7. I've got a corded sawzall and 4" angle grinder (Chicago Electric) that have seen ALOT of abuse, and they're still going strong. Bought a C/E right angle drill that worked pretty well, now it throws sparks and is a bit "challenging" to use. For the price I paid, I'm satisfied.....
  8. yeah, it works......that's what I did for the second bushing :D The problem with the bushings, other than the fact that I should have replaced them BEFORE I put the axle in ;) , is that the mount surfaces aren't exactly parallel. You need one or two offset spacers that come in the accessory kit to make sure you are pressing the new busings in straight. First time I didn't have them, and the bushing didn't go in straight and bound up.....I kept cranking on the press until there was a loud bang, when the press frame snapped in half
  9. I snapped a BJ press in half, trying to press in an axle UCA bushing  Took it back and got a new one, borrowed Jerry's fitting kit and finished the job without incident. It works very well on u-joints, though.... Jeff
  10. Dorman shortbed cable: http://www.partsamerica.com/productdeta ... 86&PTSet=A Dorman longbed cable: http://www.partsamerica.com/productdeta ... 86&PTSet=A HTH, Jeff
  11. From what I remember when I did mine, no. When the cam and crank sprockets were lined up by the marks, my rotor was pointing somewhere around 10-11 o'clock. They can really only go on one way, because of the locating pin in the front of the camshaft that engages the hole in the cam gear and the key on the crank snout that lines up with the crank gear. Jeff
  12. Mine was an 87 2.5 2WD when I got it, and I converted it to 4WD more than a few years ago. You will need a 4WD AX4/5 from behind a 2.5 XJ or MJ for a direct swap, along with a 21 spline transfer case with a short input gear. Stay away from YJ trannies because they have a recessed output requiring a 21 spline LONG input transfer case (if you can score a YJ tranny/TC combo I would go for it, otherwise stick to XJ/MJ). The only part that you will have to source 4WD MJ specific is the rear driveshaft (as well as bed size), otherwise you'll need to cut your 2WD down or have a new shaft built to size. Everything else can be scavenged as a bolt-in from a 4WD XJ/MJ. And, welcome to CC  Jeff
  13. well, that stinks....but glad you found the problem. I got my replacement cables from Advance Auto a few years ago and haven't had any problems with them (knocking on wood :D ) Jeff
  14. X2 once you do get them out, I suggest replacing the OEM screws with stainless steel ones.... Jeff
  15. Where's it at in VA? My wife and I are traveling up to Philly over the July 4th weekend....if it's close, I'll drive it up for ya :D Jeff
  16. when you routed the new front cable, did you run it the same way as the old one? It goes thru a hole in a raised portion of the driverside floorboard as it parallels the rocker panel. You may have accidentally pinched the cable housing with the seat bracket, pinching/binding the cable. Jeff
  17. I always go by feel (but there is a tension gauge you can buy). I find the longest straight span of belt and try to twist it. You should be able to get about 90 degrees...any less and it's too tight, any more and it's too loose. I know, not highly scientific, but it works fer me :D Jeff
  18. thanky.....I'll have to pick one up along with the studs. Jeff
  19. Thanks Brent...I was hoping you saw this post. Lemme check with the local dealership to see if they even know what I'm asking for  and if they can't get them, I'll be in touch. Jeff
  20. Are the pressed-in studs on the 4.0 exhaust manifold (where it joins the intermediate pipe) still available from the dealership? P/N is J400 7109 per the parts catalog. Also, does the 4.0 exhaust use a donut at this connection? (my 2.5 doesn't) TIA, Jeff
  21. your kids don't look a bit like you......... :D Jeff

    zj question

yeah that....it is a D44, but like Pete said, it has an aluminum center section (read....weak) Jeff
  23. hmmmm....that might work. When you swappin?
  24. No, I've got a complete Renix harness (both underhood and dash, plus ECU) plus an '87 4.0L. Gonna stay Renix, at least initially..... :brows:
  25. going from 2.5 to 4.0L.....are the flywheels the same? (I was thinking they aren't, but that's purely a guess on my part :D ) I've got a Renix 4.0L sans the flywheel at the moment. Jeff
