  1. you'll definately need the underhood wiring harness from an auto. It has an extra subharness that connects to the TCU and the tranny, and extra wiring for the second TPS output (which feeds info to the ECU/TCU for shift points). As well, you'll need the auto TPS that has that second output. You'll also need auto flexplate bolts in place of your manual flywheel bolts because they are shorter. I've got a spare set if you need them you can have if you want them. Jeff

  5. Just remember it like a D30...driverside is the shorter side. If it's a complete axle, I won't be jerk and just pull one shaft....I'll leave it for someone who wants the whole thing. Gonna run down to my 'yard this afternoon and take a look around, haven't been there for awhile.... How often does your 'yard have 1/2 off days? Jeff

  7. I could use the short side axleshaft.....what do they charge for just the shaft? Jeff
  8. The big brown Jeep-parts delivery truck paid me a visit yesterday as I was pulling into my driveway after work. They're running 2 guys per truck, and they were hauling azz (had deliveries at about every third house on my street). I tried to slide them each $5 for beer money or something, but they wouldn't take it either. Must be company policy :dunno: Jeff
  9. X3 I'm running 5.5 TJ coils, gave me @ 4-4.5" lift. Jeff
  10. I don't have any experience with cables, but chains yes. Pros: they work in snow if you have a solid base to "dig" down to (i.e. blacktop, concrete). If the base under the snowpack is loose, they keep digging, and digging, and digging......especially with an open diff. You can get a decent set for less then $50, and purchase replacement cross-chains as needed. I used chains on my MJ when we first moved down here to VA and it was still 2WD, and drove circles around just about everyone in the couple big snowstorms we had several years ago (but that's not saying too much because NOONE here who is a native can drive in even a dusting :D ) Chains or cables, it doesn't matter, neither work in ice and shouldn't be used. Cons: Installation is a pain, but no different than cables. Especially if you've already got a ton of slush/snow/road crap already accumulated on your rig before you put them on. It can be a messy affair. Not recommended for running on dry pavement, work best if you are in a continual snowpack environment. If road conditions change as you drive and you hit clear patches, you need to keep speed down, and the cross chains will wear faster. Hopefully someone who's used cables will chime in and add to this. I would guess that chains would work better than cables, especially in deeper snow, but I couldn't say for sure as I've never used them. Jeff
  11. if you're traveling via I95, gimme a holler when you're around Richmond. I'll buy ya a beer  Jeff
  12. started it for the first time in two weeks, let it warm up in the driveway. Noticed a strong smell of gasoline and saw a growing puddle amidships.....fuel filter was leaking. Replaced filter and flexible lines to and from it, drove it around a bit, and reparked it for another couple weeks :( Jeff
  13. Greg, Best one I ever saw down here since we've been here was ANIGAV. Think about it a bit, it'll come to ya Remember, we run both rear and front plates in the Commonwealth. Jeff
  14. My ’87 has a black interior, it was an AMC thing….and a sunroof too (not sure if it is OEM or not). It's nice, but it turns into a pizza oven in the summer..... Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found
  15. 4LO, put the e-brake on.....or not, if the rear isn't off the ground.
  16. yup......mine's right around 5.5", just have to trim out the fronts a bit more. Jeff
  17. Here's how it's sitting now, on 35's (don't want to hijack the OP's thread here). RE adjustable uppers, Rusty's (I think) fixed LCA's.....I'm going longarms here in the near future, the shortarms are functional but pretty rough riding, and the LCA's are limiting droop. 19. :fs1: :fs1: :fs1: That's the weekend before the wife and I go on our annual vacation. Lemme see if I can work the old magic on her a bit...... Jeff
  20. pull the rockers, bridges, pivots, and pushrods (keep them in order) and soak them in solvent, then brush them off with a toothbrush or other soft-bristled instrument. Use compressed air to blow through the pushrods to get all the nastiness out if the insides. Jeff
  21. my experience.... 33's + 2.5/AX5 + 4.56's= crap on highway 33's + 4.0/AX15 + 4.56's= ok on highway, about 2500 @ 65 mph 35's + 4.0/AX15 + 4.56= just about perfect, @2100 @ 65 mph (my junk is not safe to take much past 65 ;) ) I've got a buddy with the same setup (4.0/AX15) in an XJ down here but he's on 4.88's and he's fine with it. Jeff
  22. I'm running a H.O. longbed unit in my Renix shortbed now. It works fine, but the bottom of the unit does not fit into the "cup" inside the tank as securely as the shortbed assembly. Can't comment on the fuel gauge inaccuracy in my case because of the reversed polarity (H.O vs. Renix)......other than the fact that my gauge is backwards. Just have to remember that when the gauge is getting close to full, it's time for me to fill up :rotfl2: Jeff
  23. haven't done it yet......been really busy at work the last couple of weeks. If we get back from PA early enough on Sunday I'm gonna run down to the 'yard and grab a VC. Started the MJ up yesterday just to let her run a bit......rubber fuel line @ the filter cracked and is leaking :fs1:
